Tim Russert. A favorite "Son of Buffalo"; Avid fan of "The Buffalo Bills"; Tenacious Journalist; Devout Catholic. Just a few things he is known for.
Russert was born in South Buffalo. He went to Canisius. He went to Woodstock, case of beer in hand. He had a law degree (with honors). He was on the Board of Directors for the Baseball Hall of Fame. He was named to one of Time Magazines "100 most influential people" list one year.
At the time of his unexpected death (at 58) he was the longest moderator of "Meet the Press, NBCs Sunday morning show. He often closed the show by saying "Go Bills". His son is also a Bills fan.
While he was alive, Russert worked with the South Buffalo Alive organization to create a children's space, conveniently next to a public library. This space is a place for children to paly, and adults to come and sit quietly on the benches. There are some gardens and nice wildflowers as well. It's a smaller space, right on the street, but there is parking and its well maintained. This is all in the neighborhood Russert was born and raised in.
