We got married in October of 2010 and used Ben as our photographer for our engagement and wedding…read morephotos. He was great! We looked at several photographers during the planning process, but went with Ben because his friendly personality put us at ease immediately. He has a great combination of being very professional and easy going. He always had our best interest in mind, and you could tell that this number one goal was to make sure that we were happy with the photos. For example, I felt sick the morning of the wedding. We were planning on taking our couples photos in the hours before the ceremony, but Ben could see how bad I felt. So he suggested that we just wait and take the photos after the wedding on another day. As a result, I was able to rest and recover and to actually enjoy the evening. Ben really went out of his way to make sure that the final photos turned out great and, more importantly, that we were able to relax and enjoy our wedding night. He made it so easy to trust him to take care of the photography which gave us one less thing to worry about. Also, Ben's photos are really wonderful and very professional. He has a great style that makes them so much more than just the posey photos you sometimes see. You can tell that someone artistic and talented is working the camera. Everyone who saw the photos after the wedding kept saying that they looked like they were from a magazine! Ben also offers a service called Fish Eye Fun, where he sets up a fish-eye camera photo booth with crazy costumes and props for your guests to use throughout the party. We definitely recommend this!! It was SO MUCH FUN, and we had multiple guests tell us after the wedding that they loved the idea and thought it was so unique. The guests all got to take home free souvenir photos of the night, and we ended up using the photos as a guest book during the wedding. This idea was such a big hit that someone at our wedding was trying to see if Ben could come do it at her wedding in Texas! It's easy to get lost when you're looking at photographers and their packages and how much each little thing costs. We learned through this process that, while cost is important, the most important thing is to find a photographer who you can work with easily and who understands what's important to you. That's why we're so happy we chose Ben. We totally loved Ben and would recommend him to anyone and everyone. We're planning on using him for all of our photographical moments in our future :)

I can't overstate how good Travis was. But don't take it from me, take it from my sister-in-law who…read morebasically does a family photo shoot every few months. She flew out to Colorado, so we booked Travis for three families together: a group of 6 adults and 5 kids. He recommended a beautiful spot near Morrison, and we rolled in with lots of chaos and various stages of readiness. Here's what my sister-in-law said: "this was hands down the best photo shoot I've ever done, and the photos look the most amazing. I want to come to Colorado and do this for all my photos." You guys, he had pre-thought out the spots and kept us moving. No awkward standing around just trying arrangements and then it's over. We got to walk, we got to climb on benches, we had five different settings, and as we hung out and visited between spots, he got some beautiful candids. I did not expect that the site and photo shoot would actually be a fun outing. Then we very quickly got the photos within a couple days, and they were gorgeous! One of the couples ended up using a photo for their engagement announcement. My sister-in-law basically looked like a magazine cover in some of her shots. The shot of two little cousins running while holding hands was downright heart-melting. So all of this is to say that Travis was the complete package and more than I expected, and when you're blown away by a service, you want to tell the world about it.

An hour in to my event start time Dayton was standing around socializing with my wedding guests. When I noticed and asked what he was doing, he acted confused. I informed him that he should already be taking photos since he was paid for the full 6 hour event. He began taking them, but asked me periodically throughout MY WEDDING DAY what kind of photos I wanted him to take/what other ideas I had. I feel any professional photographer should be able to answer this on their own. After dinner, which he was invited to join us for, he was again sort of loitering with some guests until my husband went and tipped him (for no reason other than the fact that it is just proper etiquette.) I guess receiving a tip, prompted some new found enthusiasm in him as he then started taking pictures again and asking me for ideas on what kind of pictures I wanted. This finally all culminated with just a bunch of portrait taking, outside, as we were losing the sunlight.... Actually getting the photos was another ordeal in itself. He mailed them out in a paper mailer the first time, which showed up empty with a split in the side. I can't help feeling a little awkward that some stranger probably has a copy of my wedding photos. I contacted him and he said he would mail them out that day. After not receiving them for two weeks, I reached out to touch base and received no response from Dayton for 5 days. When I finally heard from him he claimed that he had not been able to get back to me because he had been on an extended shoot, but had mailed the photos out two days prior. So I guess he could make it to the post office, but not answer his phone? When I finally received the photos, there were only 243, not the 300-400 I was promised. Editing was incredible poor. Many were either too dark or overexposed. Angles were strange and many not centered properly. There were some things that should have been cropped out if not avoided entirely (ie- and ugly broken utility box on the wall he took some of my husband's portraits against.) There we're also some photos that I remembered him taking that were left out entirely. A photo of myself on the staircase which was probably my favorite of myself that day, as well as a photo of my cousin and I and one of me and a close friend. I reached out to him to see about getting those photos and again, received no response for 4 days. When he did respond (December 21), he said that he was spending time with family and didn't have good phone connection, but would mail out the rest of wedding photos the first week of January. It is now the first week of February and I haven't heard from Dayton or received any photos.

I booked a studio session for some professional head shots, and there was really not one single photo that she sent me in proofs that I did not absolutely love. (Usually when I get head shots done, I end up weeding out a lot of pictures that really are not appropriate or that I don't like, but these were all absolutely fantastic.) She mixed some very classic poses in with more artistic avant-garde poses and styles- and they all worked wonderfully. Michelle asked me some insightful questions prior to my session that helped us plan out our hour together. Let's face it, studio session head shots are not inexpensive, but these are the best I have ever had taken. There were so many good ones to choose from, that this photo session will last me for years. She has a great eye and I cannot recommend her highly enough. Worth every cent and more.

Having just moved to Belleville, I wasn't sure about which photographer to contact, being as I am only familiar with St. Louis wedding photographers and such. I could not have made a better decision! The shots turned out perfect--we were able to capture the "holiday" warm, fuzzy feel--even though it was nearly 60 degrees that day! Michelle managed to make us look plenty cold. Her props were great, and she had many ideas that I hadn't even considered. We have a 7-year old girl, and Michelle knew just the way to get a genuine smile out of her--not that fake smile kids serve up in these situations. I have had so many compliments on my photographs, and have referred Green Wall Studio to several of my friends in the Belleville area. And when my wedding comes up, I'll be calling her again, too!

When she first met with us, she helped us create a "package" that included everything we needed, modifying it based on how many hours, if we wanted the second shooter, etc. She has a great eye for scoping out places to take your photos and listens to what you want out of the experience, too. So, for our engagement photos, we wanted a more urban feel, and she took us to Tower Grove area for photos. For our wedding, we wanted more nature and so we went to Forest Park. Even on a busy fall day in Forest Park, Cate had come by ahead of time to check out the spots where the best fall foliage could be found! As a result, we have some awesome pictures! One of the greatest things about our wedding photos is that we have two angles of everything. Her second photographer was amazing! She took just as great of pictures as Cate, and it helped us capture alternate aspects of everything. We waited for about 10 weeks to get our photos back, but when we did, we had a treasure trove of about 1200 pictures! When my husband and I looked through them to narrow down our favorites, we still ended up with about 500 "favorites!" Cate mails you your photo collection on a USB drive that is in and of itself a work of art (it has a wooden box with one of your pictures screen printed on it). She also sent along a form issuing us permission to print the photos at your discretion. Meanwhile, she also posts a virtual gallery where you and family members can order professional prints. We had a very good experience with Cate and are whole-heartedly recommending her to all of our friends and family!
