This place is amazing! They sell coffee and tea, in a wide selection. The coffee is roasted locally…read moreby 3 different roasting companies. Lots of different teas are on display. Although the coffee was really tasty (I had the medium roast), what really impressed me were the teas! What do you call those flowery jasmine scented ones that blossom in the teapot? You don't see them for sale just everywhere! I got a few as gifts; they're 70 cents each. You walk into the main serving area where you go to the counter to order and pay, and pass through to the next room where there are couches and a high table with chairs. Free wi-fi - just ask for the access code. The young man at the counter was very informative and knowledgeable, and not shy to share the details! Incidentally, they have a section of items for sale near the entry door. Usually, they carry cup sleeves which look to be hand crochet. Neat oh! However, on this visit, they were sold out. Time for me to get the needles and yarn out! Oh yeah!! Beware their hours, though: they're only open 8:00am to 5:00pm during the week, and only 8:00 - 1:00 on Saturdays. As they grow, so perhaps will their hours. I would definitely go back!

In the intervening time, a lot of upscale coffee shops have cropped up, and Coffee Culture has stiff competition! They have also expanded, and I have been to another location a few times. That one is fine. We came in here today looking for the free wifi they offer on signs posted outside, but we had great difficulty getting in, and when finally we did, it was very slow and lethargic. Aside from that, the staff was polite and friendly (not to mention how patient they were as we struggled with their internet!), and although they offered to clean up the table we wanted to sit at by the window, and they were quick about it too, under the table was all kinds of garbage! Yuck! As for the food: we each got a breakfast sandwich which were tasty enough (mine was just ok), and the coffee was good although bitter near the bottom. However, the cookies were delicious! Coffee Cultures offers a combo coffee and cookie. I would absolutely get the cookie again. But with such fierce competition out there, and better access to wifi elsewhere, that cookie I order next time will probably be to go. :-( Unfortunate too, coz sometimes you just want to get off the couch and out of the house!! Oh well.

Pilot Coffee Roasters - Iced matcha latte

As we walked in, I noticed the open concept and minimal decor and fell in love with it! We were greeted by both the employees working right away and I must say, the customer service was perhaps the best part of the entire experience. We were never rushed to order as they gave us plenty of time to debate the menu and when it came time to order, the gentleman was very thorough and helpful with the sizes of drinks, explaining the milk alternatives which are free of charge, order was clarified to ensure it was correct - all in all, you could feel he took his time to get things right for us. When our iced matcha beverages were handed off, he realized he didn't let us know they come Una's a default and there, he offered simple syrup or vanilla syrup of our choosing since we do prefer our matcha sweetened. After tasting, we told him two pumps wasn't sweet enough and he kindly added more syrup for us. I personally ordered the seasonal white chocolate matcha as a hot beverage which was tasty but a little too sweet - I would request for half sweet next time. I also got the sea salt chocolate chip cookie as I couldn't resist (it looked so good in the pastry display!) It turned out to be absolutely delicious - the edges being the best part. My mom said it paired well with her Americano which was made with their Heritage blend. Speaking of which, before my mom ordered her coffee, she was offered to try their brew before buying which was really helpful as it ended up being too acidic for her. The Heritage blend was much more her preference with the nutty notes. All in all, a nice place to study and/or grab a coffee and snack to go! I'd highly recommend anyone to visit if in the area.

OMG! I have to write a review that sits right on the fence - for a Tim Horton's, of all places!!!…read moreOh the irony! I went to this location twice over the weekend - once on Friday, served by an adult who was working the cash as well as serving, all by herself in this little corner. I asked her specifically for 2 cups of Tim Hortons' new Dark Roast coffee. As she was pouring the coffee, I noticed she was holding the clear glass caraffe, so I asked her how she can tell whether it's regular coffee or Dark Roast? (I have noticed that when they pour Dark Roast, it is from a thermos-style caraffe). At this point, she looked up to the screen ahead and above her, and said, "oh yes, Dark Roast", and she took the cups of coffee she had just poured, and poured them down the sink. In pouring her 2nd try at the correct coffee, she spilled it all over, so I patiently waited while she cleaned all that up. No longer was this a quick, pop-in pop-out visit! Then she proceeded to pour the correct coffee for the 3rd time. And I noticed once again that she had picked up the glass carraffe, so I asked her again how she can tell the difference between the two coffees. At this point, she heaved a great sigh, and proceeded to pour these two coffees she had just poured down the sink again! She did, finally, get my order right, but what a waste of good coffee! And the lineup behind me was building up! She had to ask for backup to help her out! My second visit to this location was on Sunday morning. I was greeted by 2 young adults. Obviously these 2 were morning people; they were right on the ball! Not only did they get my order right, but they also offered other things to upgrade my order to combos, which I accepted, thereby increasing my sales order. Everybody went away happy. Well done! Kudos to today's youth!
