Anytime I'm home visiting family in Ohio and we need a cake for a birthday, anniversary or homegoing service this is my go to. On this visit I needed both an anniversary and a birthday cake. I called at the beginning of the week and placed my order for pickup Friday afternoon. When I stopped by Friday to pick up the cakes they were both ready. I always let them be creative with the cake decoration and only provide the words to place on the cake. The cakes looked beatiful and smelled divine! Needless to say the small cake was gone in no time and there may be two pieces left of the quarter sheet cake which I'm sure will be eaten today;) You can request a half white half chocolate cake so all your party goers will be happy! The cakes were moist and the frosting (buttercream) was sweet, just what you expect in a great cake;) There is a convenient drive-thru on the side of the building. Be sure if you go inside to wear your mask as there a posted signs on the door. I would absolutely recommend this bakery for all your cake or cupcake needs!

I learned that too much of a good thing is not a good thing. Once again, I am faced with this dilemma as an adult. I could eat an entire dozen of Sarah's oatmeal raisin cookies or the cowboy cookies. But I find myself in the same position as my childhood. Oh my goodness! These are the best cookies I've ever had in my life. And you can only find them at Sarah's Café and Bakery. Each cookie weighs 47 pounds and is a meal in itself. Perfect with a cup of coffee. Of course the coffee is good. My wife and I have had lunch there. The menu is vast and tasty. When I found out the owners changed hands I was worried things would change. The only thing that I see changed are the donuts are bigger. We were out exploring the area when we stumbled across this charming little bakery run by a group of Amish girls. The moment you walk through the door, your senses go into overdrive. The smell of freshly baked pies, cookies, breads, and pastries fills the air, and I swear I started drooling before I even reached the display case. As I quickly learned, "walking in here with self-control is like bringing a snowball to Florida." It simply doesn't exist! Mine certainly didn't. I ended up leaving with two peach fry pies, a loaf of cheddar jalapeño bread, and a glazed donut. My wife chose one of their giant fresh-baked pretzels with cream cheese. It was served warm and was absolutely delicious. Then I dug into the glazed donut, and wow--light, fluffy, and it practically melted in my mouth. This was our first visit, but there's no doubt we'll be back. In fact, I can easily see us becoming regulars. A quick heads-up: they accept cash or checks, but no credit cards, so plan accordingly. Country Crust also has a cute little café area where they serve pizzas and sandwiches. From what I saw, those sandwiches were absolutely ginormous. I didn't order one this time, but trust me, the brisket on a pretzel bun and the Reuben both have my name written all over them for a future visit. If you're anywhere near Bainbridge and have a sweet tooth--or just appreciate great homemade baked goods--do yourself a favor and make the drive. Parking in back, big signs for that, and exit through the skinny alley. Inside it's a nice old brick building, but airy and bright. They have a few lunch items, and they do have hot dog buns on the day coneys are their special, but didn't have them on a Saturday. And by the time I got there most of the donuts were gone. If you're local, you know to get here early. Service was friendly, prices were decent.
