Mr.Puffs - Woohoo! Love a baker's dozen

I had never heard of it, but apparently they're an established chain. The store is large, bright and cheery. The smell hooks you immediately. It's basically a gourmet doughnut holes shop, with plenty of fancy coffees and cold beverages to accompany. I wanna say, think Tim's crossed with Starbucks, with the emphasis on the Puffs. The puffs are made to order, with so many flavours to choose from. You can purchase half dozen, dozen, and up, and mix the flavours for each half dozen. We bought a combo box of Oreo and Nutella. You can watch the staff preparing the dough in the kitchen, and while they add your toppings at the counter. Idk if they somehow learned about it being a birthday visit, or this is usual, but we got a baker's dozen. I'll take that puff instead of a cherry on top for sure, because they were delicious. They are on the sweet side. Our drinks were also on the sweet side but delicious. The coffee is freshly ground on order and everything tasted fresh. We both opted for coffee based cold drinks but they have slushees, fruity and I think some tea options. The coffee was nice and strong without tasting bitter. The seating was a little odd, cute little stools in line with the honeycomb decor as opposed to chairs. The space felt really open, like your conversation can be heard all around. It was clean and very spacious. The staff on our visit were great. I would definitely return if it were closer to me, and I will totally check out other locations.

I always see the drive-thru with cars lined up. I had just finished having a late lunch at Sunset Grill. I decided to walk over to this cafe to check it out. I walked in and noticed that there wasn't an available spot to sit down. I wasn't thinking about plopping myself down, but it was busy. There were seven staffers working diligently. It looked like clockwork observing them. A friend of mine had recommended a Starbucks insulated tumbler. I didn't see it at this store. I also don't know whether it's available in Canada, as she is stateside. What stood out was a vacuumed-insulated cup sleeve that keeps your coffee or tea hot. It was different! I headed to the order area and got a nice male barista. I ordered a grande iced peach green tea. I got my Starbucks barcode scanned to pay for my drink. Done! I waited patiently for my drink. It took a while. I saw a tall iced matcha latte being made. It sat on the pickup counter for as long as I was there. I then saw a hot drink for Peter accompany the iced matcha latte. Do these people order drinks and walk out the door? Maybe they were mobile orders. I have no idea. A female barista asked her male colleague if he could make my drink. It took little time for him to make it and then call my name. I thanked him and wished him a great day. He reciprocated. I went to take a couple of photos of my drink. I got a paper straw and happily sipped my drink as I walked back to my car. This drink was yummy. It was consistent and had the best peach flavour. The ice level was perfect. It was great dropping by. I'd return when I'm in the area. I'd like to try the drive-thru next time. (78)

The goods: It's the regular Starbucks fair. It's a corporation so everything's made the same no complaints. I like to meet people here if we're going to be going on to something else in the neighborhood we could grab a quick drink. Great Vibe, Disappointing Espresso (from an ex-Barista)…read moreStepped into this spot looking to grab some genuinely good coffee. As an ex-barista, I'm fussy--I hate spending money and not getting a quality product. Unfortunately, the coffee was a swing and a miss. I ordered one iced latte and one hot latte. In both drinks, the espresso was burnt. I actually watched the barista pulling the shots, and I could tell immediately. To make matters worse, the hot drink was barely a latte; it was essentially a cappuccino based on the absurd amount of foam on top. Plus, the milk itself was ruined. There's a certain temperature and texture for steaming milk, and this was clearly burnt milk that had been frothed way too aggressively. Aesthetically, the café is lovely--it's cute and a great spot to work from home. My recommendation? Skip the espresso drinks. Maybe try the matcha or a pastry instead. I definitely won't be back for the coffee.

I have not tried their coffee before, but seeing the reviews, I think it's worth a try. Relatively new at hand drip and Aeropress, so I asked the staff for recommendations for beans based on my liking and brew. She was very friendly at narrowing down to two bean types for me. She mentioned that most of the beans here are balanced, and the origin of the beans can be single or multiple, depending on the roast. The flavour profiles, strength and origin are all printed on the packaging along with the roasting date. Along with fresh beans, this location also sells a variety of loose leaf tea and also a large selection of coffee equipment and accessories. Having been searching for a milk frothing container, I have stumbled onto the right place. Brewed the coffee right away at home and the flavour was bright, smooth and fragrant. I'll definitely come back for sure to pick up more supplies! Note: Although there are equipment and a bar visible, the location doesn't serve any beverages. I think it'll be a great idea for customers to sample their beans before buying, so I hope that will come in the future!

Fuwa Fuwa Japanese Pancakes - Tiramisu pancake

There was only one person doing cash and making drinks and doing various other tasks, it took forever for anyone in line to place their order. I waited so long I started downloading their app to try ordering that way, but it did not have a "dine in" option. We tried their savory croffles and a mini cheesecake (chocolate flavour). The food took forever to arrive (turns out one of their staff was out getting eggs and milk from the grocery store!). After a while I asked for the cheesecake first since that doesn't require cooking! The croffle was an interesting concept that works well - it's a croissant shaped like a waffle. The cheesecake was average and I would not order again. My main complaint is that they were severely understaffed and that the wait was unacceptable even though the restaurant was basically empty. If it was even half full you'd have to wait up to an hour for your food! If you want to try this place, get their app and order way ahead for takeout.

There were multiple tables following up with their orders who came before us. Upon questioning the staff as we were initially told 3 more mins when 30min hit, they advised that there was something wrong with their pancake cooker machine. However upon asking how long it would take ? They wouldn't provide us with an answer. The staff looked confused the entire time and were super unorganized. When we finally received our pancake after over an hour wait. The pancake was nice and fluffy and tasty but that doesn't really make my experience at this location satisfactory. Unfortunately, I'm quite disappointed in this location and not sure if I would be back at this particular location.

Friendly service at the counter but can tell they slow down a bit during the rush hours trying to make everyone's orders on time.
