It was mid-day, where a snack was needed to get us to dinner time, and Yelp to the rescue again. A quick search turned up Famous Town Pie Shop, and what an excellent choice this was in more ways than one. It turns out Yelp's hours of operation for this place are wrong, so we showed up just as they were closing. Being the chubby Merkans that we are, I tried the door handle and they were still open (thankfully). We were greeted with favor though as the nice staff welcomed us to try the last pies of the day. I asked for them to surprise me with whatever was available and settled on two savory pies. Uh-mazing! It had been a while since I'd last had a really good savory pie, and good ones are most certainly not available in the Southeastern U.S. of A, so this experience was amplified a bit. The crust was spot-on, the fillings were flavorful, and the portion size definitely is large enough for most North Americans. Once we scarfed down the pies outside, the owner came outside and gave us some outstanding recommendations on NS and excellent conversation. I would visit this place in a heartbeat again if we are ever in the area. This is one of those little gems that we love stumbling upon in our travels.

I was just looking around when they introduced me to their Chai Cookies. I love Chai, so I had to get one. They were $2.30 each (taxes in) and quite large. They also introduced me to their soft baked pretzels, which looked really good and were also quite large ($3 each), but I decided to pass, maybe next time. I was looking at their chocolate chip cookies and I found it really cute that the girl said "I promise you that no one took a bite out of these, they are just broken like that." They did in fact look like someone took small nibbles around the edges, haha. I have a soft spot in my heart for bakeries that go ahead and sell imperfectly shaped or less aesthetically pleasing goods. This is probably because my own baking is not much to look at, but it is delicious - my own opinion, but also the opinion of others who have tasted my baking, lol. Anyway, they are relatively new, as they weren't there when we were last in Liverpool a few years ago. They sell sauces, pastas, water bottles, and other items in addition to baked goods. Girly Girl that I am I was immediately pulled in by the pink signage and the call of beauty products. Once I got inside I was amazed by all the wonderful stuff!! Soaps that look like slices of cake and cupcakes, unique scents of whipped body butters, and bath scrubs that are a consistency I have yet to see. They are firmer and don't make a mess when you use them at all. Now for the service and packaging! The owner is lovely and took the time to wrap all of my treasures in cupcake holders with gumballs and ribbon. It was such a nice touch to finish off the bakery theme that runs throughout the whole store. I highly recommend stopping in here. The owner tells me a Halifax store is coming soon just off Spring Garden. I can' wait!!

Add a light shake of sea salt, and you have found my ideal breakfast treat. My husband had the apple cinnamon crumble muffin. We made an audible "mmmm" on his first bite. Our Americano and latte were exactly as we hoped. If you have time to linger, go upstairs and sit on one large leather couches. We met some native Nova Scotians and never felt rushed.
