I grew up in Nova Scotia and on the south shore at my cottage in Port Joli! Seaside (known to some…read morelocals as the Dairy Treat) has always been a must stop for ice cream on the drive from the city to the cottage for my family. I always took this place for granted while I lived back home and you don't realize how lucky you are to have a little gem like this until you move away. I was just back home for vacation, it's been 5 years, and I was dying for a good feed of clams and chips. Not the clams you get out here or anywhere else. I mean real clams...the whole clam belly, snout and all battered and fried!! My mouth is watering! I have to say I was not disappointed!! I had heard that it had been taken over by new management and heard mixed reviews from the locals but I'm one of those who takes reviews and what people say with a grain of salt. I prefer to make my own judgment, plus I'd never pass up clams and chips!!! I was really impressed to see they have added a patio and tables outside. I enjoyed relaxing on the patio and enjoying my lunch. The inside looks much the same as I remember it, it was the best feeling to visit a childhood favorite place that never disappointed me. I was also happy they had coffee flavor available for their soft serve ice cream (which is the best btw) I loved the clams so much I had to go back for lunch on my last day on our drive back into the city!! I couldn't leave Nova Scotia without indulging again...god knows I can't get clams like that back here. Do you deliver?

My egg salad sandwich just needed some salt and pepper but that was a simple fix. One not the egg salad is only made with egg and mayo so if you love it for the mustard just be wary. Then they give you a number to place at your table. Once your food is ready, they bring it to your table. It was my husband's and my first time there, but my husband's uncle and aunt are regulars. They had their usual orders, which were the Club Sandwich ($8.50) and the BLT ($6.25) I got the Fish Cakes with Chow Chow and a side garden salad ($11.95). My husband got the Chicken Curry "Panini" (either $8.95 or $9.95, I forget). The sandwiches do not come with sides. My fish cakes were quite good. They were a little more potatoes than fish, but still flavourful and tasty. It was my first time having chow chow (which I've been told is a very Nova Scotian thing) and I would describe it as a green tomato relish. It went well with the fish cakes. The side salad was mostly romaine lettuce with some cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions and grated cheese. The dressing was a creamy ranch. The salad was nothing special IMO, but ingredients were at least fresh. My husband's "Panini" was more of a grilled sandwich, as the bread was sliced sandwich bread and not the bread one usually associates with panini. It was pressed in a grill though. He liked it, but it looked too mayonnaise-y for me, lol. My husband's aunt and uncle enjoyed their sandwiches. Staff were friendly and the place has a relaxed cafe atmosphere. There aren't that many places to eat out in Liverpool (NS), but Memories seems to be one of the more popular places. There's free parking in the town lot, by the information centre, which is really close by (well, everything in Liverpool is close by, lol, but you can literally see the cafe from the parking lot).
