This year's RAD Fest -- the 10th annual -- was phenomenal! My family hosted two dancers from…read moreDetroit, the duo known as Thank You for Coming, and as hosts were invited to grab tickets for any shows we would like to attend so I had the good fortune to enjoy much of this year's festival. There was such a wide breadth of performances, ranging comical to heartbreaking, musical to musicless (and even Saturday evening's final performance in which the audience was enlisted to provide some of the music themselves in a call and response). A few of the pieces left me goosepimply and gutted, while others stirred belly laughs. Kalamazoo is so fortunate to have a festival of this caliber in our backyard on a yearly basis.

Absolutely stunning…read more I have no shortage of good things to say about this company. I just got a sneak peek of their performance debuting next week and wow.. so eloquent, dazzling and heartfelt. I was welcomed with open arms and my experience here was so pleasant. I would love to actually take dance classes here (which they offer) so cool! The atmosphere is warm and cozy and the dancers are so talented and passionate. The event was absolutely amazing per usual and I really appreciated the time and effort they put in to let us get a peek of the full show which I am sure will be amazing. If you're considering, definitely come see a show here! The percussion to accompany their upcoming show is so unique and I left in awe. I brought my mom this time around and she was talking about it the whole way home! haha she's a big nerd and this was SO up her alley, mine too! You definitely wont regret coming to see a show here and I know I will be back! :D

I got a perm here being my first ever perm. I have naturally curly hair but explained I wanted more…read morecoil to it and uniform curls throughout. I had Ashton D. As my hairstylist and loved every second of it the guidance from the supervisors and even some of the nearby students was so fun! The amount of laughing and just enjoying my time was like no other hair appt I've ever had I highly recommend letting the students here hook you up they always have a super fun bunch working there!

I'm rating this place 2 stars despite going here twice with a good experience because today was…read moreabsolutely awful. First of all, I wanted my hair dyed purple and so they were bleaching it for that but only bleached the roots when in the past I've had my stylist bleach my whole head and everything be fine so my color came out choppy, which was whatever thats like okayish I guess I can fix that easily. What I did not like was the fact I said I didn't want my hair cut wet cause I have curly hair and the teacher there INSISTED, so I let her and shes just going at my hair with the scissors, had to explain I wanted curtain bangs and she gave me a completely different type of bang and said to pull it to the side to make it a curtain bang and also cut it too short and immediately after cutting it too short told me to just straighten my hair. Okay well I'm crying at this point cause I don't want to heat damage my hair for it to look good and now I'm gonna have to, but even then it doesn't look that good because the haircut she did is choppy. After all of that, I am still crying but trying not to and she says "Oh well I can pay for your lunch" and then I told her I would want Elaina next time because she actually knows how to cut my hair, I hate being rude but its true cause why would you cut curly hair wet? You need to check for the shrinkage and also insisting after your client is clearly nervous or uncomfortable is so unprofessional, also with the bangs I had given her an example photo and someone else searched up what they would look like curly and she still was insisting that she cut it how she did which I can only pull to the side to make it look somewhat curtainy when my hair is straight. Anyways I had to tell her to put down on my thing I would want Elaina twice because for some reason she was insisting on putting it down as someone else who did my hair a couple months after Elaina did even though I said I wanted Elaina. Anyways, she also told me she was going to put down that I was picky in my chart which is gonna make it harder for me to get my hair done by people because they are genuinely going to think I'm picky when I'm not, I've asked for this same haircut twice and got it done correctly it was only her who didn't do it right. It's making me look bad to hair stylists who don't know me. Not to mention, she also took it upon herself to put down her own co-worker saying she cuts hair better than her co-worker just so I would feel more comfortable which to me is really weird cause why is that the first thing you jump to instead of your credentials? Really weird and unprofessional to immediately go to putting people down to make yourself look better even if its in small situations like that it says a lot about your character. The teacher was named Ms.Tamaka or something similiar, I would highly recommend people who get their hair done here don't get it done when she's teaching because her level of unprofessionalism will leave you unhappy in so many ways, and I pray for the hairstylists learning underneath her.
