Super fun though to join their app & get other deals with desserts sometimes featured. Best thing at Tijuana Flats is trying the different sauces. The portions are a lot smaller, the flautas barely have anything inside them, and the service is slow and non-existent. They used to come around and check to see if you needed refills on your soda pop, but now you're lucky if you even see someone behind the counter. The sauce pumps barely work too. We went for the Throwback Thursday menu. I got the steak bowl and my husband for a beef burrito. I probably wouldn't get the steak again it wasn't much. However I had a bite of my husband's beef and it was better so I'd probably get that next time. The cheese sauce is the same as it's always tasted. Honestly, this place has gone so far downhill. I ordered my typical chicken nachos and a side of small guacamole. There was probably a bag of cheese on top of the nachos barely any lettuce or tomato and my guac was half full. Honestly it was disgusting You overcharged me for chips and cheese. This particular Tijuana Flats is located on N. Avalon Park Boulevard and is located in a small strip mall next to a Walgreen's. This Tijuana Flats is basically located on the corner of N. Avalon Park Boulevard and Waterford Chase Parkway. With its location, this Tijuana Flats is convenient to both residents of Waterford Lakes and Avalon Park and is not that far off of East Colonial Drive for anyone in the mood for Tijuana Flats and traveling along East Colonial Drive. Tijuana Flats is a chain that coincidentally started here in Orlando, Florida. In addition to their Americanized version of Mexican food, Tijuana Flats also offers a hot sauce bar. Being a huge fan of hot and spicy food, this is a huge plus for me. I called in a takeout order. They gave me a pickup time of about twenty minutes and I headed over. The staff was friendly when I got there and I was on my way in a decent amount of time. I had one of their burrito bowls. I went with the Megajuana, which is their biggest and has double meat. Before I said that their food was an Americanized version of Mexican food. Kind if like a Chipotle, but they do not do an assembly line type build your meal. It is also a bit more than Chipotle, though the food is similar (truth be told, I probably prefer Chipotle over Tijuana Flats). The evening of July 3rd, we took the kids out for dinner--we're moving and between packing, cleaning, and just trying to keep three tiny humans alive, convenience is survival. As part of our "Orlando Farewell Tour," we chose one of my favorites: Tijuana Flats. Fun, casual, kid-friendly... they even offer applesauce and apple juice with their kids meals. Perfect, right? We spent around $60--app, entrees, kids meals. Our 2 year old twins were happy, staying in their seats, and our 10 months old was squealing with excitement over his shredded chicken. No tantrums, just the usual baby joy sounds. A college-aged, and clearly undertrained, employee walked up and said: "I'm going to have to ask you guys to try to keep it down. I get they're kids and all, but can you try to keep them quieter please?" I was stunned. We were one of the only table in the restaurant. I truly thought he was joking. But nope--he was dead serious. As someone navigating postpartum depression and anxiety, that moment hit hard. I felt embarrassed, angry, and ashamed. We boxed up our food, left, and I emailed corporate. Maybe nothing comes of it. But maybe--just maybe--another family in a vulnerable moment won't be shamed like we were. Call me crazy, but if your restaurant offers applesauce as a side, maybe don't police the happy squeals of a baby. read more

In a society where customer service has been on the constant decline-- it is SO refreshing to go to a place where they treat you with kindness. I walked in, was acknowledged and greeted by the young lady at the register. I told her I needed to figure out what my mom wanted and she politely told me to take me to take my time. I didn't get her name-- Once I was ready, Anthony took my order. I was a little extra because I was getting these for my mom in Atlanta as she loves TJ Tacos. I asked if they could separate the ingredients like a mini-catering order. I've never had a bad experience at this Tijuana Flats but today was extra lovely because Anthony offered to give me some ice for transportation of the taco goods and he gave my mom his kind sentiments and a courtesy treat as she is dealing with some health issues. I always say "you don't know what people are dealing with so try to be kind and extend grace"-- it was very awesome being on the receiving end of this kindness and it means so much to me-- the smallest gestures leave the biggest impacts. So I had a review drafted at 4 stars since we frequent this place and haven't been disappointed until recently. I always get the nachos and usually they're quite good. Good portions with lots of toppings. However the past 2 times have been regrettable. The first we dined in during lunch. We had trouble finding the meat and there was literally no queso. I popped in the other day for a takeout order on NYE. It wasn't very busy, but the service could have been better. I walked in and went to the register area to place my order and there was a young girl doing something on the computer. She seemed busy so I stepped back a bit since she wasn't ready. However, I was never greeted or acknowledged in that time and I stood there a few minutes. She never looked up to say hello, or to tell me it would just be a moment. It was like I wasn't even there. This is the Location closer to me, and I go there often. I use the app to order to go and so far have had a good experience with them. I also Like the app rewards. We sometimes eat in, the ambience and the service is very good. The only complaint I may have is that sometimes when I order to go, there are no utensils, even when I added on the notes to please put some in. It has happened even when I have rice and beans and need at least a fork. To start, I have never had a good meal here. Today my boyfriend and I decided to give this place one last shot because usually when we go to this location the food tastes bland, like it's been sitting in the window for 20 minutes, and it always take forever to get your food. Today was just something else... it took 50 minutes for me to get my food, almost an entire hour of just waiting. After 40 minutes I got up and I asked where my food was and they said it'd be right out and they brought my boyfriend his food about 2 minutes later and it, yet again, looked like it had been sitting out for the entire time of us being there and it wasn't hot and of course tasted bland. I just don't get why after sitting there for the first 20-30 minutes they didn't bring us out some chips with salsa or queso or literally anything for the inconvenience. As someone who worked as a waitress for years I totally get things like this happen but like I said it's been every time we go there it's a bad experience. They ended up refunding us for our food and we didn't ask them to do that but ultimately I would just like to pay for my food and have a good meal. My wifes and kids order was also a mess! Did you guys run out of meat and forget the difference between soft and hard shells? Pretty basic stuff... i'm scared to think what else this place may not be doing like maintaining health and safety protocols. Ever since I came here with my boyfriend and friend. I like it here and I don't mind stopping by here if I had the money (college budget here). It's really close by to our new place so I'm happy. Oh yeah, Pokemon Gym over here~ The menu is pretty simple, what kind of protein you want and what do you want in it. I wished there's pictures of each meal category because I know some people never had chimichangas and enchiladas. Also, almost each restaurant makes their nacho bowl differently. I guess if you want to know before hand, look at people's Yelp photos. I really like the chimichangas. I get this all the time. If you want extra sauce like queso, it's .99 cents. The jalapeño is pretty fresh, defiantly gives you a kick. Since I can't handle very spicy (they give you four jalapeños if you want jalapeños), I asked them lightly put them. They give you two which is fine for me. Really like the sour cream layer on the top. You have option getting lightly fried flour or wheat and then sauce (costing 99 cents). They don't tell you that the sauce is extra cost. But it does say on the menu in the corner. I wished they say it out loud just incase people don't want to pay extra. My other friend said the nacho bowl is pretty good. I'll try that next time. I signed up the member club online and got the Tijuana Trio for free. You don't really need to print it out, you can show on the phone. I really like the queso. Maybe it's just that day or not but I thought the guac and salsa was okay. I feel lik the salsa was eh and guac was little bit bland. But getting the trio is pretty good price, I would get it again to see about the guac and salsa again. So I went with my girlfriend and friend last week for the first time. The place looks cozy and cool. Staff people are nice and patience with you when you're trying to figure out what you want. They will serve the food, you don't need to get up and get it. My friend told me there are sauces in the back to dip with your meal. They all look good; I couldn't just choose two or three. So I took all the medium spicy to the hottest. I really really like spicy. The two highest spicy sauce were really good. If you really really like hot damn spicy, try it out! Sauce doesn't dominate the meal with jalapeños but enough super spiciness in it. The other sauces are good but I really like to something with really really spicy :P My girlfriend and I ordered Chicken quesadilla and chicken & beans chimichanga. We both shared the two meals cuz we had to limit our budget since we just spend a lot money at our new place. But anyways, All meals came with small chips on the side which I like. The chicken quesadilla was pretty good but not fulfilling. I would eat this for lunch or snack unless you have small appetite it eating with other meals. The chicken & beans was really good. I came here based on Yelp reviews, and boy am I glad I did! The hubs and I are in Florida for business and fun, he's busy today so I got to roam around, where better to than go get some Tex Mex? Mexican food is fast becoming comfort food to me. There were ample parking when I arrived around lunch time. I was a little confused when I first came in because there weren't anyone at the counter and no one spoke with me. I finally saw a sign that says to grab a menu, order at the counter then find a seat to sit down. Phew, that wasn't so hard! I got the guacamole and chips, and chicken flautas. Too bad they didn't have horchata. The girl at the counter was super sweet and nice, she gave me the chips and guac on the house just because I said it was my first time there! I was stoked! After sitting down, my appetizer came quickly, the guacamole tasted refrigerated so I don't think it was made to order but prepared probably hours before. Since it's free I can't complain about free! The chicken flautas were pretty good, it's not like what I had in college but the chicken was flavorful. It had a warm dipping sauce that was good but I don't really know what it is! All in all I had a lovely meal, the atmosphere is lively and laid back, lots of regulars, the price is really affordable, my meal was $9 something including taxes and tip.
