It was an easy walk from the city and even though it was quite sparse inside (like most hotel restaurants) we were shown to a table on the raised platform and the view was lovely. We ordered a bottle of Cloudy Bay Sauv Blanc but unfortunately they were sold out but they agreed to let us try an alternative before buying the bottle. We ordered the Garlic Prawn and Char Grilled Chorizo Salad to share which was delicious and generous enough if you are after something light as a starter (5 medium prawns). The Black Angus Rump was fairly thin and although we ordered med-rare it came out med-well but was still tender and tasty. The Confit Free Range Pork Belly was a bit dry and the crackle wasn't as crispy as it could be but the taste...yummo! So delicious. Dessert was a toss up between the Summer Berry Pudding and White Chocolate and Bailey's Cheesecake to finish. We chose the lighter option to share and the berry pudding was light and fresh with a small scoop of ice cream, strawberries and a pistachio biscotti crumble. All up the meal was delicious and the staff were attentive without being intrusive.

Just the name of this place itself should pique anyone's interest, but even more than that, the ratings for their coffee has been consistently high. To my pleasant surprise, the coffee didn't fall short of my expectations! While I'm not usually a fan of dark roast, I enjoyed this roast, as it didn't taste burnt at all. Though the coffee didn't have a particular nutty or fruity aroma, it was still aromatic and smooth. It was a little more acidic than I would have liked, but that's me being overly critical. I would give their coffee a 4.5/5, at least for Brisbane standards, and the location is quite perfect for those who work in the city! This morning, a meeting in the CBD provided the convenient opportunity to casually suggest Frisky Goat. Like a pro. Keep in mind this isn't really a spot to stop and mooch, although there are a few stools and bar tables for you to perch upon. And in a history of bottom-of-office-building-cafes equating to less than amazing coffee, you'll be surprised to know Frisky Goat (pouring Supreme Roasters coffee and Bunker Hot Chocolate) are a cut above the rest. My latte wasn't overly milky and I could actually detect coffee. Impressed. Plus, I know the guys at Bunker are pretty fussy with who they give their hot chocolate too, so they've got to be good. Oh, and for my lactose intolerant buddies. Bonus points. They offer almond milk for $1 extra.

I dropped by this place after being invited by a colleague for a coffee break. I was impressed with the coffee served. I got a large Cappuccino for $4. It was well-extracted and served ready to drink. These guys have a limited food menu as well so you can pick up a Toastie and Coffee for $7.

My coffee was affordable, 3.50 for a small, and was creamy, delicious milk, frothy and sweet with chocolate on top and served in a vintage floral mug. All my stars for this place! Fourthchild is one of these great hang outs and boasts such a Melbourne-esque feel as soon as you walk through the doors. Upon entering it's the simple but gorgeous layout that strikes you first about this little joint. There are fabulous small details such as cakes being served in star shaped liners and orange juice in a jar with a paper straw that makes me love Fourthchild is the bees knees when it comes to delicious baked treats. My personal fave is the flourless mini chocolate cake, or I hear the carrot cake is also a winner. Their coffee is worth boasting about, with the Barista clearly capable and experienced on the coffee making front. It's my understanding that Fourthchild also does a mean breakfast/brunch on the weekends and is the only place I know who sells organic, iced earl grey tea. So swallow your pride, and make a trip to the Switch for some Fourthchild action. It will not disappoint. Bare in mind that it's a hit with the locals so best to get in early or late to avoid crowds.

Not as busy as most Brisbane cafes on a Sunday morning it was steadily filling up when we arrived around 10:30am. It had been on my list to visit for a while so friends and I piled in the car for a Sunday road trip to "The Switch" There were five breakfast items to select and unintentionally we had five people dining who all chose individual items. Don't expect many frills from this menu. It is simple and removes any temptation for decision overload (although when looking at their cake cabinet it may be a different story). They make most of their goods on site and it shows (in a good way). The bread for my scrambled eggs, mushrooms and spinach was more like a damper- it was soft in the centre, fresh and the right amount of crunch in the crust. The meal was good but lacked a little flavour for my liking. The eggs could have been improved with some simple seasoning or herbs. Of all the meals we sampled the best would have to have been the "frenchie" french toast with banana, salted caramel and honey comb. Surrounded by tempting sweets and cakes I'm going to take a stab in the dark that this is what fourthchild excels at, rather than run of the mill breakfasts. Still, all in all, minus the delay in our coffees arriving to the table it was a pleasant out-of-town cafe breakfast. Should I be local, I'd be all over this place like a rash.
