The Loft at Due South - Chicken Marsala

The wedding was June 12th and I think I've looked at the pictures from the wedding every day since. The staff was so nice in making sure that the guest and wedding party were content and happy. The invitation said 6, but the wedding didn't start until 7, but no one seemed stressed about it, so I assumed it was an early time on the invite to make sure people didn't arrive late. There was a cash bar, and while I spent $48 without tip on 4 drinks, I'd happily to it again. They poured up a good drink There was an outdoor patio for standing around while we waited for the ceremony to begin, taking pictures, talking and smoking etc. The wedding was lovely overall and this venue only added to the atmosphere. The food was delicious, there was salmon, chicken tenders, brisket, Cesar salad. The collard greens were not to my tasting, but I'm from the south and nobody makes collards better than my grandmas and aunts. Again....Kelly and her team deserve all the accolades for what was seemingly a stress free wedding environment. I'm not sure of the cost, but the mother of the bride assured me it was reasonably priced for a wedding planned in less than two months.

The Bibb Mill Event Center

The event center is beautiful and we enjoy our visit year for the rededication reception. We were able to park up close to the entrance. We were very lucky, as there were numerous events going on that weekend. So it was crowded. There were plenty of directional signs everywhere and the staff was there to greet you and show you exactly where to go for your event. The staff checked on us as soon as were seated and the manager came around also to check on us during the reception. She was so kind and was very attentive. The food there was absolutely amazing. We had salad to start and the entree consisted of beef and chicken, with rice, carrots and green beans. Both, the beef and chicken were so tender and everything was seasoned really well. We also enjoyed the bar, as the bar tender was really friendly and made great suggestions. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, as the event space was large, clean, and had a great ambiance to it. The scenery outside was also breathtaking at night. This place is a gem.

This event center is gorgeous, 5/5 location and spaces to rent. Their catering is pricey but is…read morealways delicious. Staff seems to do a good job handling multiple events simultaneously and keeping large groups separated. Drink services are atrocious, I've been there for multiple events and the bar line is always extremely long, super slow and over priced. The bartenders are working hard as best they can but management fails to properly staff the bars with enough people or have multiple bars. I've had events where most people only were able to get one drink the entire evening and call it quits early solely because of the bar. If the Bibb ever gets their bar situation corrected they'd be a 5/5 event center hands down.

Rothschild-Pound House Inn - Happy Couple after Wedding at the inn

Rothschild-Pound House Inn

My girlfriend and I wanted to getaway for the weekend and our internet searches brought to us to…read moreColumbus Georgia. Our main reason to visit the area wasn't Fort Benning but to explore Providence Canyon State Park. We initially wanted to stay at a B&B near the Florida border but decided to book a room at the Pound House Inn. The Inn is located in an older nieghborhood with several remodeled homes. It's three blocks away from the waterfront district. I was really surprised when I pulled up to see such a luxurious home, manicured hedges, large deck with chairs and the inside gathering area had finished floors and antique furniture. We checked in by meeting with the innkeeper who showed us to our room the Governor Forsyth suite. We walked around the side of the main house through a wooden gate and gravel path to the dillingham cottage. This building had a small deck and front door. Through the door, a hallway led to two rooms one them being the Governor Forsyth suite. Once inside the suite, the room has it's own small foyer type area. A countertop with window and chair. Below was a very small box mini fridge. Past the foyer on the left is a door where the toilet is located and the sink is on the outside. The corner of the room is the extra large 2 person jucuzzi tub with overhead shower inside. In the middle of the room is a fireplace with cut outs on both sides making it visible from either side of the room. Beyond the fireplace is where the bed is located and small tv with satelite capabilites. The suite wae very nice. The innkeeper gave us a tour and explained the building was 150 years old. He gave us a key for the deadbolt and said he lived on site. He gave us a telephone number to reach him just in case. The room had everything we needed. It was cozy and felt like it should a luxury room at a B&B. The bed was comfrontable but had an uncovered window at the top of the wall near the ceiling that let light in early morning. The Tv was probably 32-34 inches with a basic satellite package. We didnt use the gas fireplace with activation nob nearby. The tub worked great and we never ran out of hot water. The wierd thing there isn't a separate shower. The shower head isn't adjustable and is on a high pressure setting. There is a () shaped tub/shower has a curtain for privacy. The first night at the inn we saw a extremely large palmetto bug above the TV. It was literally the largest palmetto bug I've ever seen. This was the only time we seen a bug. No ants or roaches infestation was seen. Although spotting the palmetto bug was unsettling, bugs like these are common and there bound to get in. We decided to walk to the waterfront area (three blocks east of the Inn). While walking we passed other cottages with suites available and many old homes turned into law offices and other businesses. The first building when we reached the waterfront area was the government center. Beyond this building, many restaurants (mostly upscale) can found along with Columbus State University. We visited the river walk and several shops and listened to street performers playing music. We had a nice time at this Inn. We weren't offered wine and crackers. We didn't visit the main house for breakfast. At check in, I saw travel packs of cereal, Pop-Tarts and yogurts available. I think for the price guests should be offered cooked breakfast. I did some research and found a restaurant used to operate a few houses down and supplied the Inn with gourmet breakfast for guests but after it closed this practice stopped. Both times I visited the main house, the innkeeper had a tv dinner on a table. I couldn't expect him to cook for me when he isn't cooking for himself. A white cat named lucy could be found on the porch or roaming around outside. This feline is the innkeeper's pet and is super friendly and wasn't affraid to jump in my lap and beg for attention We stayed for two nights and weren't bothered. Another couple stayed in a different suite one of those nights and the other we were the only guests on site. Ultimately, I think the pound house inn was a great alternative to hotels in the area. The price is steep but what it offers was worth the stay. The innkeeper was hospitable and his historic Inn offered great in room lodging amenities.

Good luck getting anyone to answer the phone. I've left…read morenumerous voicemails and no call back. I'm trying to offer the Inn a beautiful antique but no one answers the phone. I've heard rumors that the Inn is for sale. I'm about to inherit a good amount of $$$ and might want to buy it. I was in the hotel business for seventeen years and I know what it takes to make guests feel comfortable and welcome.
