Christian has such passion for his clients and work. You won't find a better motivator out there. I'm fitter than I've been in years!

The turn-in to the lot is extremely narrow and my Jeep Wrangler barely made it through. If you drive anything larger than a sedan, be warned: it's a very tight squeeze and not easily accessible. Once inside, I had questions about parking and class logistics, but the front desk staff gave me pretty dry, short answers. I had signed up for a "Strength" class, but as someone new to OTF, I didn't realize there were two different formats running simultaneously - one focused on the treadmill, the other on weights. When I was asked where I wanted to go, I said "tread" without understanding that it meant I'd be on it for the entire class (I thought just a starting point/ warm up). About 30 minutes into the class, I realized I may have messed up. I went to the front desk for clarification, but no one was there. So, I approached the coach as quietly and respectfully as possible. I explained I had mistakenly joined the wrong group and asked to switch to the weight room, which still had an open spot (and where I was originally scheduled). The coach immediately dismissed my request, saying, "If I let you do it, I'd have to let everyone do it," even though I clearly didn't understand the class setup and was trying to correct an honest mistake. Also why would everyone else want to switch if they were signed up for treads? She seemed more annoyed than understanding, and didn't offer any real solution. I then asked if I could use the rower instead of running (I have bad knees and don't enjoy running), but again she refused, saying others might want to do the same. The rowers were empty. The only option she gave me was a stationary bike and by that point, I just felt completely dismissed and unwelcome. I come to the gym for the helpful guidance and support from the trainers and staff or else I would just use my apartment gym on my own. I minus well have today.

When I initially started I had fears of being intimidated or overwhelmed by the high intensity, but the coaches are so welcoming, and members are focusing on themselves. It is truly a judgment free zone. They have recurring events and giveaways to promote community. Such a big fan!

I'm not a boot camp kind of girl, so anyone yelling at me isn't going to see me ever again. Holly's encouraging voice, coupled with her no-nonsense, take no prisoners approach is perfect. I never got away with a bad body position, especially if it made it easier to perform an action. She KNOWS. I suffer from low back pain and was not a runner when I began training with her. I now run/walk 3.1 miles every week, with the goal of running that full 5K by the end of summer. And my back issues have improved over the course of our workouts. and because I'm stronger and know how to safely execute movements, I'm able to tackle weight training. If you're looking to gain strength in a supportive environment, become a runner, or improve your athletic ability, I can't recommend Holly enough.

The workouts are different every day and are fun, well-rounded combinations of calisthenics, cardio, and weighted stuff. The coaches demonstrate the exercises (plus modifications) at the start of class, so it feels doable for everyone. And if there's something you can't do, chances are you're not alone! I've been coming here for 9-ish years and have seen athletes of all levels join FFN. Some are new, some are injured, some are pregnant, all have a place. I really like how the coaches get to know each member's skill and comfort level over time--if you want to push yourself, they'll gladly help you do it (safely)! I just started going to their Barbell Club classes (strength training), which I'm not great at yet. There are people lifting HEAVY weights around me while I'm still learning form, but I feel really encouraged by them. It's been a fun new challenge! You'll get out what you put into this place. And I've got a forever-gym, great friends, and a fitness routine that supports my goals. Just come :) it'll be fun.

One of the very first things I noticed about this local business is the fact that they included pronouns of all their instructors directly next to the class name. I thought that was so inclusive and awesome...and to be honest, I have never seen it before in any fitness or yoga class I've ever attended. It says so much to me about their values as a studio. I attended the trauma informed yoga class with Sarah via ZOOM. I really appreciated how easy the studio made it for me to find the link and that the process was seamless. Another thing that attracted me to the studio was that I was astounded with the diversity of experience, education, and the focus on mental and spiritual health that their website explained for instructors. For example, Sarah is a body positive advocate that doesn't believe in diet culture or fatphobia. She has a focus on trauma informed practices and making yoga accessible to all bodies. Her bio online says she has worked with many different organizations as a licensed master social worker. It makes a huge difference when the folks who teach trauma yoga classes actually know what they are doing versus trying to implement something they read in a book. Overall, I had a wonderful experience with the studio, even if my own computer issues did force me to have to log out early (if you're reading this Sarah, sorry about that!) If I find myself near music Row in Nashville I wouldn't hesitate to take another yoga class at this wonderful place.

I found this gym through a long search for trauma informed yoga classes. As of Feb 2022, this gym is the only gym/studio in town that offers these classes and they're once a month on Sunday afternoons. The teacher was good and the class was very chill and low intensity. To attend that class, I bought 14 days for $14. As a first year teacher, I try to get my money's worth out of things so I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone and sign up for a class. The gym is a little hard to find your first time depending on where you're coming from, since it's underneath the yoga studio at street level. I came in, nervous and not knowing what to expect. I had signed up for Sweat with Jess, the owner. Sweat is a circuit class, but there's a lot of flexibility on what exercises you actually do. Jess led us in a warm up then explained the first circuit, but I must have looked like a deer in the headlights. She came up to me and quietly asked if I needed some help and I said yes please. She got me some small weights, demonstrated, then stayed with me until I got it. She was fantastic at checking in with me throughout the class in a quiet, respectful way. I've never met a class instructor like her, who was equal parts personable and professional. She was so encouraging, kind, funny, and clearly knew her stuff. It was a good workout, but I really appreciated that she told us to listen to our bodies and do what we needed. The class flew by too, which I have never said about a workout class. I've already signed up for my next class! I cant even put all the amazing things about this gym in a review, partially because my hands are sore from the kettlebell. I highly recommend checking out their website, they have a fantastic vision/ purpose.

I've been working with Jim for 4 months and have been thrilled with the results. I am down a size,…read moreI eat with purpose, and I feel strong and healthy. When I started looking for a trainer, I was not seeking dramatic changes. I am well into my 40s, and have a busy life with an overwhelming amount of responsibility. I was looking for relief from having to manage my exercise on my own. I think I just wanted someone to do it for me. I thought of hiring a trainer in much the same way as hiring someone to clean my house...one less thing I had to take care of. I figured I'd show up a couple times a week, get my workout in, and be able to check it off my list. But what I got at Cutting Edge was so much more. Jim is a true professional. His knowledge of training physiology seems endless and as a result, there are times he changes my form by a millimeter and suddenly it feels entirely different. My workout is so tailored and so effective that what would have taken me hours to accomplish on my own, I achieve in a fraction if the time with James. I can't believe the strength I have gained from a man who is so incredibly gentle. Sometimes he hands me an intimidating weight and I will say, "Can I do this?" He says, "I wouldn't give it to you if you couldn't." And even though I don't think I can, I suddenly want to be able to do it so badly simply because Jim thinks I can and I don't want to let him down. And then the crazy part...I actually do it! Jim is patient and insightful. He responds to my emails promptly with thoughtful and clear advise that I can follow. He posts a regular blog to social media with training and nutrition suggestions that really keep me on track between sessions. But the secret to Jim's success goes even beyond that. I tell my friends I love-hate James. For example, the other day as I was leaving a session, he said, "Lay off the beer tonight. Green tea instead, okay?" Four months ago, I would have said, "Oh shut up!" But by this point in our work together, although I still thought, "Oh shut up" I went home, had a cup of green tea, and thought about how grateful I am that he's got his eye on my health. When I work out on my own, I hear him telling me I can do it. When I am about to reach for the chips (or worse - skip a meal), I wonder what he'd say if he could see me...and I grab an apple (or a protein source) instead. James's influence has become an integral part of the health and fitness decisions I make every day. I won't lie. Personal training is a huge expense and I did have to take a second job to afford it. But I have come to see it not as an expense, but as an investment. I am proud of what I've accomplished with Cutting Edge and I have never felt stronger.

I always leave feeling so good about myself and everything I just accomplished... the results aren't just obvious in how I look (I finally have a butt!) but how I feel and deal with things in life. The weekly emails and healthy (really good) recipes are a huge bonus. I can not recommend this man enough. 1 million stars.
