They're many options in the local area in regards to Taekwondo, however I believe I made the right choice when choosing Tiger J Taekwondo. Master J, Master Kim and entire team are patient and I've noticed how confident and driven my son is since starting earlier this year. Highly recommended

Master Kim was dishonest with our payment and also failed to process our official belt certificates, so we never received them.

My six year old loves taking TaeKwonDo classes here. He is still a white belt but will be tested…read morethis week to get his yellow belt. He has learned so much in the last two months of taking classes. We come twice a week, Monday and Wednesday from 6:30pm to 7:15pm. If you miss one of those days, they have a make up class on Saturday mornings. They have several different classes to get into, the starting age is 5yr old. They have a family class that you can take with your children as well. This location also has a Demo Team and Sport Poomsae! They all compete with Master Kim's help and guidance. Master Kim is a 7th Dan Black Belt in the traditional Korean martial art of Taekwondo. He has a Master of Arts degree in Physical Education and Teaching, specializing in Taekwondo. He is also has a degree in physical education and teaching! He is exceptionally talented. They offer different specials here too. When we came in it was $49.99 for the first month and it came with the uniform. Kind of like a trial before you spent the full amount on something. My son ended up loving it, so we signed up for a full year. They automatically withdraw the payments which is nice, one less thing to worry about. Stephanie up front is great and very knowledgeable. We really like her! They are also very patient with my 3 year old. shes not old enough to take the class yet but they allow her to stand close to the entrance, and let her follow along. Shes still not able to concentrate and focus enough to do the class, but its nice they let her see what they're doing. She only follows along for maybe 5 min but its a start. She'll be more than ready once she turns five.

My daughter has attended this dojang for about two years since she was 6 and we'd still be going…read morehere if we didn't need to move. But move we did... so it's about time I leave a review. It's located on Bellaire next to Pollo Campero in a slightly run down orange retail center. It's hard to miss once you see it. They do have a shared parking lot with a handicap spot right in front of the dojang but parking can be tight during busy times like belt tests or larger classes. They offer a 1-week trial period, which is ideal. In my opinion, trial classes are mandatory before joining a new dojang just to see if it's a good fit but if it's only one class, it's merely a peek. One week - if you can make it to multiple classes - will give you exposure to most of the other students and instructors you will meet and is more accurate. There are several martial arts places in the area, but this one won based on value but also the atmosphere. They offer unlimited classes for the monthly membership cost as long as you attend the classes for your age group (ages 4 and up), they don't pressure you to compete and has a more supportive and relaxed feel so you can go at your own pace. The classes aren't very crowded either so you sometimes get more attention to work on things you need to work on. You have the option to apply for a belt test every 3 months so that's not rushed either, so this place is definitely not a McDojo. They do provide a handbook that outlines all the testing material for each belt so you're not going in blind and they'll focus on testing material leading up to it, helpful for the students that don't attend as many classes. The other students are pretty good sports overall. Females are in the minority and my daughter is small for her age but she never really felt left out by the other boys. Master Derek and the other instructors are knowledgeable and personable. They teach WTF taekwondo here from stances, kicks, blocks, punches, and poomsae to footwork, breaking, kicking combinations, self defense, and sparring (though no weapons so far). They also teach the five tenets of taekwondo. I even joined the adult classes when I had time though very casually (more for exercise) and I didn't feel pressured to go any further (though there's always encouragement). It was fun and Kim's Olympic Taekwondo felt like a second home with how often we were there. Both my daughter and I miss them but there were some pretty great memories. Fun fact: Master Derek has a background in physical therapy so that's a plus while practicing a contact sport... especially once you pass a certain age. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to learn taekwondo, whether or not you're a beginner. Or at least try out a few trial classes to see if you'll love this place as much as we did.

Her knowledge of Tae Kwon Do goes beyond measure, but her attitude and persistence in her teachings and encouragement is second to none. Although, I consider myself a well-rounded athlete, I have never been pushed both mentally and physically as much as I have here. What I love most about the school is that each instructor has learned under Master Kim and developed his or her own unique way of leading a class. The school not only challenges me physically and mentally, but it is fulfilling in a cultural, social, and therapeutic way. I highly recommend this school to any ages and all levels!

As a parent, finding the right activity for your child can be challenging, especially when you're…read morelooking for something that builds character as much as it builds skill. I recently enrolled my son at Master Min's World Champion Taekwondo, and the experience has truly exceeded every expectation I had for what a martial arts program could offer. My son has always been energetic, curious, and full of personality, but one of the biggest struggles we've faced has been helping him focus and maintain self-control. Like many parents, I wanted to find a positive outlet for his energy, somewhere that would teach discipline, respect, and structure in a way that still felt fun and encouraging. That's when I came across Master Min's Taekwondo. From the very first class, I noticed something special about this place. The instructors don't just teach kicks, punches, and forms! They teach values. They emphasize respect, teamwork, and focus in everything they do. The phrase "Yes, sir" and "Yes, ma'am" became part of my son's vocabulary almost immediately. It was amazing to see him bring those habits home, using polite responses not just in class but in everyday life. What really stands out about Master Min's program is how it connects physical discipline with emotional growth. The environment is structured but positive; the instructors are firm, yet incredibly encouraging. They manage to hold every child accountable while still making them feel confident and proud of their progress. For a parent like me, someone who wanted her child to learn self-control without losing his sense of joy, this balance has been priceless. One of the most unexpected benefits has been the cultural exposure. My son now knows how to count to ten in Korean and often walks around the house practicing the words he learns in class. It's a small but meaningful example of how the program expands beyond just martial arts, it's also about appreciation, global awareness, and personal growth. I've also noticed changes in his body language and overall confidence. He stands taller, pays more attention when spoken to, and even corrects himself when he realizes he's not showing proper focus. Watching him bow to his instructors and classmates is such a proud moment as a parent because it shows how seriously he's beginning to take respect and discipline. The studio itself is clean, organized, and welcoming. Every class runs smoothly, and the communication with parents is excellent. They take the time to explain what each belt level means, celebrate every child's accomplishments, and motivate them to set realistic goals. In a world where kids are constantly distracted by screens and instant gratification, Master Min's World Champion Taekwondo is a refreshing reminder of the importance of structure, manners, and perseverance. It's more than a martial arts class it's a life-skills program disguised as a fun workout. If you're looking for a place that will truly shape your child's character while building confidence and respect, I can't recommend Master Min's enough. It's been one of the best decisions I've made for my son's development, and the results speak for themselves every time he proudly says, "Yes, sir."
