This review is a long time coming, and it's coming from a place of frustration and loss. We started out at the Pleasanton studio in August of 2017. My daughter performed with the company from 2018-2021 at the Fremont and Livermore studios. The issues and problems that we ran into are still spilling over to my daughter's dancing. The teacher turnover is RIDICULOUS. Teachers come and go so often there, and it throws the dancers off. During the 2020-2021 competition season, in one month, we went through 3, yes THREE teachers. There is absolutely no consistency. There is absolutely no technique taught there. TDA spits our choreography and does not teach terminology, proper turnout, etc, etc, ETC!!!!! It's all recycled routines year, after year, after year. There is no originality whatsoever. My daughter went to dance competitions and conventions and she was lost when it came to basic terminology, and basic steps. We spent thousands of dollars with them, and looking back; what a waste! Miss Tiffany does not care at all. We mostly danced at Fremont, and I never, ever once saw her visit the studio. We danced at one competition and when Fremont studio was up, she walked out. Yes, she walked out and didn't watch our girls dance. We danced with her for years, and she wouldn't be able to pick my kid out of a lineup. Ms. Robbie who is the TDA Company director is great. I actually really, really like her and think she is fabulous. She was always really kind, fair, and accommodating for me and my daughter. Looking back, on our experiences there, we are blessed that we met such amazing girls. My daughter calls most of them her bff's and I'm so grateful for that. Even better, they still dance together at another studio. If you are looking for a recreational dance only place for your kids to have fun, go for it. If you are looking for a studio that will teach your kid PROPERLY, I suggest going somewhere else. read more

This place is a straight money grab. My niece does dance classes here and they nickel and dime for every little thing. In order to perform at the recital we had to pay for the costume ( no complaints) and then pay $100 for the dancer and her family to watch the performance. The recital was outdoors in Livermore in June at 3p with no seats set up. They would not let her perform in the recital unless the $100 tickets were bought. Her performance was less than 2 min. Also, the classes are in Fremont but we had to drive ALL THE WAY to Livermore for the performance. Inconsiderate, cheap and I wouldn't recommend to parents looking for a fun dance class. Look elsewhere! I'm sure your city leisure services has great classes for a fraction of the price and headache. read more

My daughter is in the 4-5 Twinkle Stars class with Ms. Julia, and we absolutely love it! Ms. Julia is the perfect teacher, she has the patience of a saint and is so sweet and kind to these kiddos. My daughter gets so excited to go to class every week and dance! read more

I have never had any desire to write a yelp review, but felt it was time to come here and express not just my disappointment with Tiffanys Dance, but the heartbreak and struggle my daughter went through in order to recover from what Tiffany's Dance did to her. Tiffanys has failed their dancers and any child who has a desire to thrive in dance or even pursue a career in performing arts should not go to Tiffany's. It will be a year soon since we decided to leave Tiffany's, and she is still struggling with the bad habits that were never corrected at Tiffany's. But it was the best thing we could have done for our child. She is in such a better place now. From teacher turnaround (because nobody wants to continue working there), to horrible bad habits and no technique, repeat choreo year after year after year, no real communication, it's a mess!They let just anyone join comp teams with no real auditions because all Tiffany's cares about is taking your money. They don't correct the kids which puts them in a position of learning bad habits that have been almost impossible to break. They have all these extra charges and charge your bank account without even enough time to come up with all the hidden dance fees. They have no skilled teachers left. Mr. Cesar is mean to the students and has had my daughter fighting back tears during her classes with him. They blame covid for the issues they are facing but in reality over a 1000 students have all left because the parents realized that their dancers were not thriving and all the great teachers left. Yet tiffany still charges everyone equally but does not provide equal training. They have their favorites and everyone else is just there to fill in. They hold kids back and aren't truthful about the training they provide, or should I say lack thereof. My daughter went through hell trying to relearn dance. It was stressful, her confidence was gone, she didn't understand why her and many others who danced with her were so behind. It was difficult to accept, but she is working hard to correct everything. It's so sad. And so unfair to these kids. The bottom line is that Tiffany's failed them. It wasn't covid. It wasn't the good teachers. It was Tiffany's responsibility to make sure her students were getting the service we paid for and the training they believed they were going to get. But she failed them. Leaving was the best decision we made for our child. read more

I agree with the reviewer before me. My daughter started in August (end) and had her recital this June ... well guess what? The children did not learn their steps. Hmmm what were they learning all those classes? This place is all about what they can take from you. We did a Saturday class, which cost $58 monthly. Then there was the costume for the recital, which we already paid for and received by Janaury (I thought to myself gotta stop feeding my daughter or she won't fit into it LOL). Oh yeah and there are late fees for getting the costume late. And if there is a problem with the costume there is a $25 charge. There was also a DVD sold to show the moves and I think that's when I realized how sexual the routine was. My daughter is not even 4!!!! WOW, I hated to watch her practice, and the skimpy dress. OK, so we got the costume. The photoshoot was before the dress rehearsal, which kinda confuses me, because we had the hair piece put on differently and different lipstick colors ... obviously confused parents. Anyways, we survived the photoshoot which is pretty much how much more money they can suck out of you. We had the dress rehearsal and the teacher didn't even bother correcting the outfits, she would only do it if asked. WEIRD! Then the last 2 classes, our teacher was too busy to be there with the children and they got a new teacher, who had zero control over the children. The recital: I was a backstage mom. OH yeah you have to buy tickets for a minimum of $50something per family. Anyways, I was a backstage mom cause I honestly didn't trust to leave my daughter alone. WHY DID I PUT UP WITH ALL THIS YOU ASK???? Well money was spent already and I felt bad to waste it. I also didn't see most of what I described as clearly until the last 2 months or so. AM I RE_ENROLLING MY DAUGHTER? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am currently looking for another dance place which actually acknowledges that dance at this age is a fun activity, which should stay at that. read more

We started at Tiffany's in August, and was off to an okay start. They have a strict color-coded dress code for practice (all pink; c'mon, the kid's three), so okay, I shelved the outfits we already had (hand-me-downs) and went along with it. About two months ago, the original teacher left the class, and we got the New Girl. Y'know, the one that calls them kicks instead of the proper dance term the first teacher used. Oh, and the desk girl has left, and she was about the only one who seemed to "get" helping fix things, like costumes. Yeah, the costumes. I was on the fence for a recital for a toddler, I mean, she's in a class of two, only her some days and rarely three or more. Very rare. So, bought the costume, and padded the measurements slightly to account for my daughter tending to grow tall, fast. Her sizes were in the cusp, and apparently the costume service chose to round down. The (no longer there) desk girl was helpful, called the costume place, and on speaker I could hear them tell her they had another one "sitting right here." That was WEEKS ago, and still no replacement costume. And come to learn if we want to watch her dance, well, that's another $14.25 per adult, including the $1.75 inconvenience fee. Plus, unless it's just that poorly worded on their ticket sale site, she needs a ticket, too -- seriously? At this point, we'll be pulling the plug the moment she walks off the stage... I'd do it now, but I'm embarrassed at how much the (3-4 minutes?) on stage have already cost, and I don't want to throw that away (y'know, since it's all non-refundable). read more

The attitude of the people here is really bad and if I had have my kids exposed to this nonsense I'd think twice !! The lady venessa is a sass queen agreed but not needed that attitude specially when your a paying customer Sorry Tiffany your making rethink about continuing your class ! Even though I didn't have this to face at Pleasanton but I think you need to get a check on this ! You don't close doors on people's faces and you definitely don't tell them oh we sent a email that your not allowed in here !! I was recently visiting family in Livermore and was blown away by my two nieces performance at their dance recital. Amazing! But perhaps I shouldn't have been surprised as my nieces are always raving about their dance classes every time we talk or Skype. It's all they want to talk about. It was also nice to finally put a face to this Tiffany lady that they talk about incessantly. She couldn't have been nicer. Finding things you love in life is great and I'm happy my nieces have found such a thing in dance and Tiffany's Dance Academy. But what I like even more is that they've also gained so much confidence in themselves. It's a wonderful thing to watch. read more

Be ready to open your wallet! My child danced there a couple of years and we are now looking for another studio. Everything is motivated by money, and very little real instruction is given. The tuition is high, costumes over-priced and every opportunity is taken to extract more of your dollars. (A DVD with the recital dance on it-really? I thought that was what class was for.) After about January, the class was uber-focused on the recital and any real instuction stopped. The teachers, while pleasant, are not invested in the students and barely know their names. Even the recital pieces are regurgitated from past years. They whole staff seems to only be going through the motions. The Performing Company is kind of a joke. It's just a way to get more of your money. The girls are sweet, but I saw very little progression and again the routines seemed like the same steps-just slightly different music and slightly different costumes. While invited, I think that we will pass on that opportunity. I guess there are lots of parents that will respond to the whole cutesy glittered princess on the stage, but I really am looking for substance and in my opinion-we will not find it at Tiffany's Dance Academy. read more

We had a few bumps early on at Tiffany's, but particularly in the past few months there have been many positive changes here that have us very excited again about our daughter being a dancer here. Tiffany and Vanessa and co. deserve real praise for have been very responsive to our and our daughter's needs, for instance in working to boost enrollment in a class time that originally didn't have enough students to be offered. Tiffany even took time to respond personally to the few hiccups we had early on, which I was very impressed with considering how much she's got going on as a dancer and multiple business owner. The staff at the Livermore location are friendly and very hard-working, and we love that Tiffany's does go above and beyond in giving their dancers opportunities to perform on stage. They do a great job keeping the dance events organized and running smooth and on time, which is really commendable given there are scores of excited and nervous kids and parents running around like mad! Most importantly, Tiffany's staff have been making sure that there are as few distractions as possible taking away from what we really want, which is for our daughter to have positive, character-building interactions with the gifted dance instructors at Tiffany's. These are what keep her (and her parents) excited to come back to class here every week. read more

If you are looking for a dance studio just for fun, like taking 1-2 classes per week, and you happened to live nearby, this place might be good. If you are looking for an advanced dance school, this is not the one. We came to Livermore studio just because we signed up Company( competition team) for my daughters. It started at both commitment of more classes as wells as more money. My daughters did improved a little in technique after one year of Company, but compared to the commitment of classes (4-5hrs classes/week/person and my driving time) and financial burden$$$, their improvement seems so little. Be prepared to pay $$$ tuition fee/ costumes fee/ performance fee/ competition and convention fee etc. if you are in Company. However, Miss Cassidy Stoker is a very good while strict ballet teacher. She is the one that my daughters said really teaches something. read more

My daughter took dance here a few months back. She started pretty enthusiastically but soon lost interest and didn't want to go back. However, for this, I can not blame the dance school. I did feel that this is a business operated for pure profit, students and parents second. The secretary was completely useless at the Pleasanton location. She spent more time making sure her day's outfit was right than answering my questions. It seems like the business was so busy that nobody could explain to me how to order a recital outfit for my daughter. It took me many phone calls before I was able to speak to the sole person in the whole operation who knew anything about recital outfits. I would have given them one lonely star if not for Ms. Bonny, my daughter's teacher who I thought was really good as what she does. read more

Oh my god... Is all about MONEY! Here is why: 1 - Everything revolves around the recital 2 - You can't just have classes, your child and you will feel obligated to attend the recital, since that what most of the class is about. 3 - Recital means big bucks for them. 4 - You have to get the outfits from then ($$) 5 - You have to buy tickets for the recital or you can't be part of it. ($$) 6 - You have to but at least $50 in tickets ($$). In my case 2 girls, 2 different shows means double the tickets, (2 girls, 2 parents, 3 relatives = $175!! per show = $350 DOLLARS!! 7 - For "SAFETY" of the children no "flash" photography is allowed nor video!. 8 - Cost of 1 DVD (not very good quality production BTW) ONLY $50!! 9 - No pictures allowed, ONE 4x6 $11 (yes 1 picture), if you want gloss paper $12 (are u kidding me). Pictures are not even real pictures are cuts from "HD" film. 10 - During recital $5 for ONE rose, $10 for 3 small roses. This is in top of tuition, registration (every year) $50 (for what?). Pictures before recital with outfits (more $$$, very expensive). I mean can you give parents a break? I can't believe people keep their children here. This is was the end for me, the recital was a display of greed. $25 for a ticket (wow), $25 for a ticket at Chabot (woooow!), considering Chabot fees are super low. I imagine no more than $500 per day. Is not only me, a lot of the parents where just rolling their eyes, and wondering what the hell are we doing. Is just to much. Are my girls re-enrolling?!.... I love everything about this studio! It is so welcoming and adorable in its design. I saw Tiffany working with the little girls - and she is amazing! I honestly found her techniques very creative, and I loved all the unique music selections she uses. We used to go to Capitol Dance academy, which we dropped... it doesn't even come close to Tiffany's Dance academy. I'd highly recommend this place to any family looking for quality dance lessons. read more

My children have been dancing with Tiffany's since my oldest daughter was four years old. She is now 13! We love this dance studio because they are very selective in who they hire as teachers, which translates to excellent instruction and technique. We also love that this studio chooses age appropriate dance costumes. I've never had to worry about what the costumes would look like. Finally, the thing I love most and will always be grateful for is that they build up the dancers and give them all opportunities. My daughter went through a chunky phase and was never once made to feel bad about her size at the studio or made to feel she shouldn't be dancing. She loves dancing and thanks to the love and focus on building dancers up, she was not discouraged and is blossoming into a beautiful young woman and dancer. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. The previous reviews are dead on. My daughter went here a few years ago, and it sounds like they are worse now than they were back then. Even back then, they were ALL about the business and NOT about the dancers, particularly the little ones. They flat out lied to me about how much they were charging First they said it was an amount per class...then I noticed they were charging the same amount each month, regardless of how many classes met. I brought this to their attention, and they said "well in the end it all evens out." Being anal, I checked, and it's not true. They end up charging each person for more classes than they actually attend. When I again brought this up, they said "Well, you get the most bang for your buck if you take a Monday class..." Are you kidding me?! Everything they charge extra for they say go towards the "Bay Area Dance Company" which is Tiffany's own separate performance company. So let me get this straight...I am paying extra $ to benefit Tiffany and her OTHER dance company, which my daughter isn't even a part of?! How is that fair? Also, there were several dance classes that were doing the same dance as my daughter, because they had different recital days. One day we were at one of the local festivals in Downtown Livermore, and "Tiffany's Dance Academy" happened to be on one of the stages as we were passing by. The girls were doing the same routine as my daughter's class, with the same costume...yet my daughter's class wasn't part of the show. So basically, they pick and choose which class they want to do performances outside of the recital?! Of course, the class that got to do the extra community performance was the class the Tiffany's daughter just HAPPENED to be in. Try explaining to a 4-year-old on the spot why another class was allowed to perform your dance on the stage and your class wasn't allowed to. Again, how is that fair?! For the past two years I have bought my niece classes at Tiffany's as her Christmas gift and I couldn't be happier. Classes are extremely affordable, my niece has learned a great deal and she's always all smiles when talking about what she's learned. She has become the easiest family member to shop for during the holidays. It's safe to say that she will be getting the same gift for the third year in a row. read more

Billed as a Beginners class with "positive environment" however no instruction / correction was given to an actual beginner. Severe teacher, doesn't seem to enjoy what she was doing nor make eye contact with the kids. Instead races through the steps. Blaring music which frightened one other girl out of the room. We thought we were joining a Ballet class. When my just turned 4 year old daughter started to feel embarrassed, pulling at her ballet skirt; eyes started to well up with tears--she was left standing in middle of the room by herself. My heart was breaking. When we left and asked to cancel our membership, the teeny bopper at register snubbed her nose at us and repeated, "well that IS the beginner's class" as if I had 2 heads. I can understand later that classes should become progressively more competitive and serious, but these are 3 and 4 year olds for pete's sake. Perhaps school is prepping girls for Black Swan roles? dislike. read more

I don't know what Tiffany's was like back in '08 when those two bad reviews was written, but it is a GREAT dance studio! We just started our 2nd year at Tiffany's and it seems like it is going to be another great year. My daughter had Miss Bonnie last season for the Twinkle Babies class. Miss Bonnie is the BEST instructor! She knows how to control a class of eight 2-3 year old girls while still letting them have fun. The recital was a little costly over all, but all worth it and everything is not due to be paid at the same time, so it is pretty spread out. Not only did all the girls in our class know their steps, but Miss Bonnie did not even have to go on stage with them, they performed all by themselves and were very confident because of all the great instruction they had received. I am a father who has spent thousands of $ at TDA. we have been going to TDA for about 6 or 7 years. After reading these reviews i have to stick up for Tiffany. Yes it is a business and should be run like one. Most of the negative mothers who wrote these bad reviews didnt give the kids a chance to develop. At first it was painful to watch my daughter perform. But now It is heartwarming to see my daughter so confident. She is improving every year. She loves Dance! She Loves TDA. read more

I love this place. I don't understand how such a well-run business receives low ratings, but to each their own I guess. I signed my daughter up a few years ago and didn't expect her to love it as much as she did. The teachers have all been amazing-- so patient and kind to the children. Yes, they may have dress code requirements, but its definitely more of a professional school to enroll your child in. If you're not ready for rules and requirements, then this is not the school for you. Vanessa, the director of this location, is AWESOME!! So helpful and responds to e-mails immediately! There is constant communication of what is going on, so they definitely keep us on track when there's so much else going on in our lives. I recommend Tiffany's to all of my friends! read more

I just read many reviews and was relieved to see that I was not the only one to feel like the school's main focus is money! I was shocked at their inflated fees for everything. It is such a shame because my little girl has her heart set on taking dance classes, but I simply cannot afford all their fees for recital outfits, added onto the basic cost of classes and then having to purchase (overpriced) leotards and tights from them???? I actually had my own personal business experience with them from a few years back and I am amazed that ( Tiffany and her husband) are still in business? In my dealings with them they were very sneaky,greedy, and dishonest. A few years have passed since that experience, and as luck may have it ...I have a little girl who is begging for dance classes, and unfortunately they seem to be the only ones around close enough for me to take her to. If anyone out there could recommend a better place in the Pleasanton area I would be really appreciative. read more

I should of went with my gut and left in the first month. The teachers and staff are very young, yes they are dancers, but that does not give them the knowledge on how to teach children. It is very expensive, yet not sure why?? The studio is located in a not so hot strip mall, they have one young person in the office and they have three or four young teachers that come and go. I never saw any one from the main "Tiffany's" office overseeing the teachers or evaluating them. So basically you are paying tons of money to have your children taught by teachers in their early 20s. The recital is so expensive. You have to drive all the way to Hayward for the recital when perfectly good venues are close to the studio. Was not for me or my girls! read more

All of these negative reviews really bother me. I have been with TDA for 8 years and I plan to major in dance in college and hopefully dance professionally. My parents are very happy that I've found a place where I get such a good education in dance. Tiffany is one of the kindest people I've met and is one of the reasons I enjoy dancing so much. However, Tiffany isn't the only one that makes this studio so great. Every single one of the staff is so kind and talented and I feel so lucky to be a part of it all. I also would like to say that we often receive the "Most Age Appropriate" award at competitions, so the comments people made about the costumes and dancing being inappropriate kind of confuse me. All the people that write bad reviews know that it is a good place. They are just too stubborn to give in and say that tiffanys is the best studio. Skimpy costumes? Really? Because we have gotten the most age appropriate costume award over plenty of studios. I strongly reccomend tiffanys. It is hands down the best training you are gunna get. read more

We are getting ready to start our third season with Tiffany's Dance Academy. My daughters are four and almost 6. My older one will be in the performing company this year as a Debut dancer (first year competitive). My other daughter has one more year in Twinkle Stars. I love the family feel of this studio. The instructors know my children by sight.....(even ones that don't have them in class) The parents that I have interacted with are very friendly. One of the draw backs is that in their effort to provide the best possible experience for the dancers they bit off a little more than they could chew. They introduced a new program at the beginning of the season called "Showstars" promising more performances throughout the dance season in local venues to give the kids more experience on stage. A great way to prepare for not only recital but for performing company as well. My daughter and I were very excited about this and looked forward to those shows. I am not sure where the ball got dropped but as time passed, each venue/show opportunity didn't happen. Their replacement for this was another show, after the main recital. This created a multitude of problems. Recital is early in June.....this show is to be late in June. It is not in conjunction with any event in town, it is during the summer when people are out of town quite a bit. Which in turn means fewer dancers, which in turn messes with the choreography that the kids have learned. The show is free to anyone who wants to come and is outside at the outdoor stage in front of the Bankhead Theater but their has been no advertising of this event that I have seen at all. So not so sure that it will be as positive of an experience as it could have been had it been a part of something like....Thursday farmers market family day, or the wine festival, or something. Not to mention that it would have been GREAT advertising. All in all I will continue to have my girls dance here because of the family atmosphere and Tiffany makes a real effort to make sure that costumes are age appropriate, and NOT something you would see a streetwalker wear. The dances that my daughters did were age appropriate moves and not sexual in any way. It is a little spendy but then I challenge you to find a studio that isn't a little spendy! The ones I have researched are just as spendy, and none of them had the family atmosphere that I experienced at TDA from the moment I walked in for the first time! The others also don't have the careful attention to age appropriateness of the costumes that I experience at TDA (in my opinion) that I saw in the pictures on the walls of their studios, websites and various other times that I have seen the other studios perform in town. read more
