My favorite spot for their Pupusa, I love the queso and chicharrón ones personally. They also have some good empanadas de carne molida.

Tierra y Sazón has THE best pupusas in town! Everything was so yummy and the homemade Jamaica was the perfect drink to go with just about everything we ordered. The staff is so nice and helpful, the restaurant is super clean and spacious, and they even have pool tables which makes it such a fun vibe. The guy who helped me was so kind -- he even threw in some free authentic Salvadoran food for me to try, and it was SO good. I'll always come back! read more

This place is almost hidden in plain sight. They still have the old restaurants vinyls on the windows at this time with the only indicator of you being at the right place being the main door having the right name. Very much a small family run business. Everyone was nice and the food came out pretty fast considering pupusas are usually a decent wait. I got a couple of revuealtas pupusas and classic bean and cheese. Their curtido is some of the best I've had and same with the pupusas. My best friends wife is Salvadoran so I'm a little bit of a snob with pupusas and will definitely be back for more of these and to try more of their menu. I also got to try some of their chicken and a cup of their atol de elote which is a warm sweet corn drink. That was surprisingly fantastic. Definitely something I'd throw down on a cold day. read more

I walked here from the VA hospital. Nice, clean, quiet on a Thursday morning. I just wanted a lunch snack. Something that wasn't greasy everyday fast food . Not in the mood for McKing Bell. Pleasantly surprised at the hidden away place. Service, not as polite and welcoming as I had hoped. It did seem I disturbed their lunch. Apologize for that. The tacos were great. It has been a week of tacos and this is in the top 3 of places I've been too. Well done read more

Quaint small family owned El Salvadorian restaurant in the Wells District. Was feeling a bite hungry after enjoying happy hour at nearby Z Bar, so wandered over few blocks for a light bit. There are a couple of bistro tables out front, but at 6:30 pm, it was too hot to sit there. There are several tables inside spread over the two large rooms. The second room has pool table in the back that some guys were enjoying with their beers. Order at the small counter, and the owner/cook will bring your food to the table. The menu is posted on the wall with pictures and in Spanish with the prices. The papusas were extremely hot of the griddle with a fabulous crispy edge and gooey melted cheese center. The fresh crunchy cabbage was served separate to you could add as much or little as you like. The tamales had plenty of meat filling. When finished pay at the counter. She accepts credit cards and cash. Limited street parking out front and on the side street. read more

If you're a very patient person and are willing to wait over half an hour for just 2 pupusas and a drink that's 80% ice with a hair on your food then this is the place for you. My girl friend and I had to walk back and forth because we received our food without any forks or knives and had to keep asking for more stuff such as sauce and curtido before we could actually eat. I never leave reviews but this was a frustrating experience. The vibes were good and the food was good but man the rest of it really weighed it down for me. read more

My partner and I wanted to try a new restaurant, so we chose to go here on a whim. We entered and were immediately greeted by friendly faces and KARAOKE! (side note- the singers were all amazing) We ordered our food while the cashier (who I'm assuming was the owner) cracked jokes and made us feel at home. We were even encouraged to try karaoke, even though neither of us knew Spanish! My partner sang "I Kissed a Girl" by Katy Perry and was cheered on by the owner. The food came out quickly and was incredible. I ordered the ceviche tostadas and my partner ordered the pupusas. The ceviche was fresh and flavorful for a great price. Great service, welcoming and fun environment, amazing food read more

Okay I was craving pupusas, so we found this little hole in the wall place and I loved it. The server there was so humble and warm she reminded me of my tia back home where like you know she's gonna want to just stuff you with food so you're well fed. The pupusas were gone, like I loved them so much they brought me back home flavors. I also ordered horchata and gosh I could drink a bucket of this. My friend said her torta was juicy. They also have a pool table which is a good way to kill time and their music was great. Felt like I would be at a quince listening to their playlist. Overall I would definitely return here to try more of their dishes, and hopefully get that same lovely service like I did yesterday! :) read more

Food was fantastic, variety of dishes that all were great. Papusas were insanely delicious!

It is frustrating when a service substitutes unavailable items without notifying the customer or obtaining approval. Customers should be informed when a product is out of stock and given the option to accept a substitution or decline it. Providing items that were neither requested nor approved, without offering a proper refund, reflects poor communication and customer service. A more transparent approach would ensure customers are involved in substitution decisions rather than receiving unwanted products. They have done this more the one time to us on our experience there. its very frustrating not getting the food you ask for and them not asking if you would like something different or them adding extra of something else. read more

Popusas were delicious!! Would definitely return when I return to Reno. My kids enjoyed their food and they are usually picky eaters

I called in a phone order for pickup and was warmly greeted. A 10 minute wait I was told. From all my past experiences it's typically a good 20. No problem due to their visible signage it was easy to find. The first thing I noticed was that they were mopping when I pulled up. I always have a hard when there's cleaning (sweeping/ mopping) going on as food is being prepared. I was told to be careful as it was slippery. I looked around very bright and big. I was the only person in there. Upon grabbing five pupusas- 3 revuelta , 2 carnitas and chicharron with a Salvadoran horchata $14. Eh that's okay. Masks were worn and a big sign stating masks are mandatory. I put them in my car and typically the aroma fills my car to the limit point where I can no longer wait to dig in. This wasn't the case, I couldn't smell anything. Upon the first few bites I wasn't impressed it was lacking flavor. I had high hopes for the revuelta but same thing. Bummer. The Salvadoran horchata was delicious though. With so many other choices I'll likely venture elsewhere next time. Always worth a shot of trying a new pupusa place though. read more

This little restaurant for doesn't look like much from the outside off Wells Ave. but as soon as you walk in you're welcomed with bright paint, nice music and a pool table! I had been craving pupusas so I had to give this place a try and I am SO glad I did! It's definitely my new favorite spot to get El Salvadoran food! My husband and I both got 3 pupusas and shared a side of rice. The pupusas are only $2 which is an amazing deal. Everything was incredible! I honestly don't fully know what was in the pupusas but they were magic. They were tender on the inside but still had a nice crust on the outside. The rice was perfect, very flavorful!! All of the employees were so kind, friendly, and helpful. We felt very much at home and we will definitely go back again soon! read more

The papusas are amazing!! Enough said. Actually, there is a lot more to this hidden gem than just the most delicious pupusas. The other Salvadorian food is also tasty and filling. You will be satiated (perhaps even stuffed) after your meal. I personally appreciated the spicy salsa. Take this as a warning... even the mild salsa has a pretty good kick. I always chuckle when the salsa is brought out to the table in one of those syrup dispensers that you'd typically see at a diner. Very intuitive!! Of course the food is a major reason to eat at Asi Es Mi Tierra, but it is also one of the most comfortable places I have eaten. And when I say "comfortable" I don't mean the seats will help out with your back issues. Ha! The hospitality goes beyond "customer service." I feel like I'm eating with family with the gracious welcome and relaxed atmosphere. read more

Amazing food! Super authentic. Met the wife-husband duo who cook and serve food from their country. Felt like we were invited to their home! Pupusas were delicious and not greasy; very flavorful. Had the chicken plate and the beef plate. The meats were so tender that they melted in our mouths! The sauce they were cooked in were so amazing! Gosh, wished we lived in Reno and we would spend many meals here. Hope to return very soon. Feel lucky to have found this place. read more

I was feeling sad about the old El Salvador restaurant on Forest st being gone for like 4 years now and I got a craving for pupusas. This place has rice that looked similar to what the other restaurant used to make. It looked like my best bet. I can't believe I never noticed this place before. It's been around for a while. I am very happy with my decision to try them out. I got beans, rice, and cheese pupusas. All delicious and my tummy is full and happy but not bloating. This is my new pupusa craving fix. The people working there were also very pleasant. I like them. read more

When M&M (the owner) is in the house, you are in for a treat. What kind of a treat ? A treat like you have been friends forever (which to us, that was our first visit), a treat like you are the most important customer to him. I understand sometimes, a restaurant can have a not so good review about their customer service on some particular day, but during our visit here, customer service is everywhere, even the Chef (M&M's wife) came out to say hello to us and to make sure we are satisfied with our meal. We have been driving by this place for a few times and always say let's give them a try someday ! Well, we finally did on a Saturday morning. It is located on Wells and some calls this "A hole in the wall" place, and it is exactly that, if you don't know it is there, you will pass by it everytime! They were just open and getting everything ready for the day when we arrived, place is very colorful, cheerful, very clean, and spacious. We picked the table next to Wells. Browsing through the menus while we listened intently to M&M about his story. It didn't take long for our breakfast combos to arrive, it is first time for me to try fried plantain and it was good, even Dad loved it too! My Huevos Rancheros was saucy and got characters, I almost cleaned the whole plate which I rarely do. Most of the ingredients here can be used in Mexican cooking, but our meals were served with El Salvadorian love. I already look forward to coming back here to try their lunch or dinner ! read more

I'm happy to say this was my first Salvadoran food experience and I'm in love with pupusas! The waitress informed us that she didn't speak very much English. Also, 98% of the menu was in Spanish. Both signs of a good Mexican restaurant (they serve Mexican and Salvadoran food), in my opinion. I had a pupusa chicharron, which is a form of pork that I'd rather not think about, but still very tasty! My husband had one with loroco; kind of plain tasting, but anything fried is good. They come with a cabbage slaw and tomato sauce. Smother away! Sidenote: 1 pupusa=$1.95! read more

The best pupusa AND curtido in town. The Banana empanadas are so good, you'll wish you had ice cream to pour over them! The burritos are solid good, not amazing. Just to be fair, I'd get one here over MOST places in town - then again, if I'm coming here. I'm getting Pupusas! The Seven Seas Soup is VERY good. If you like sea food soups this is one of the better ones you could get. I've NEVER had anything that wasn't good from here. The prices are very fair, and the service is beyond friendly. The place has some street parking and is never super crowed. It looks like a disco in the late night hours. I wouldn't say most people should go here late at night. I'd stick to the daylight hours. Not that this area IS dangerous but COULD be dangerous. This is my neighborhood so I'm not ripping the area, just letting you know that it's gritty when it gets dark. Regardless when the sun is out, feel free to come down here and enjoy some of the best food on Wells. read more

We left downtown, wanted a nosh before we had to go to the airport and catch a plane yesterday evening. They cooked up 4 pupusas in quick order. They were good: not too much masa on the outside of them. The decor is very simple, at that. For example, we watched a CONCACAF qualifying game on a wide screen TV with a crack in it for a few minutes. But if you want pupusas or something different, quick (if you ask for it) and cheap somewhere between downtown and the airport, Asi Es Mi Tierra is definitely an option. read more
