My husband found this gem liquor store long ago. They are tucked next to the bakery in a ho-hum…read morelocation you might not know was there unless you were specifically looking for them. They are a small store and if you're looking for wine or spirits, they have a pretty standard selection. However, if you're looking for specialty beer, this is your place. They have so many rare or more difficult to find beers and really focus on local and craft brews. We always find something we've never seen before when we come here. Staff are also very friendly and helpful if you're looking for something specific.

Thank you, Brian R. Beer geek heaven sums it up…read moreJohnny O likey Place is kind of small with a 50's vibe and a little off the beaten path for me. In my *cough* *cough* years of existence living in the Twin Cities, I don't think I have ever come across the intersection of English and Frost in Maplewood before. I guess that is what Yelp is about, right? Finding great businesses you never would have on your own. Awesome beer selection here, including a large make your own six pack selection. Went with the following: Brooklyn Brewery Monster Ale (first time I have seen this anywhere, and it will be my first to sample), Lagunitas Sucks Brown Shugga Substitute Ale (also first time seeing this anywhere), Left Hand Sawtooth Ale, Great Divide Denver Pale Ale, Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale, and Big Sky IPA. Grand total? 12 bucks. Pretty reasonable, if you ask me. Guy at the register was a little slow ringing up the product. Took what felt like five minutes. He said he was filling in. No biggie.

You know that check-in offer Lorraine mentions from 5 years ago? Still valid…read more I forgot to use it last time but it was still there this time. Dude wasn't even sure how to ring it in. But honestly, the meats and everything are delicious. The variety that is offered it great and they even have a little liquor store next door if that's something you also have to grab. One of my favorite seasonings for EVERYTHING is Montreal Steak. Well this last time I went in they had Montreal Steak Seasoning brats and they were delicious.

Whenever I go to Costco I always pass by it and get curious about it. Well I had a special dinner to prepare and wanted to make sure I went somewhere that would have the cut of meat I needed. It was very easy to access and parking was no issue as they have a parking lot. I walked in and was greeted and 2 gentleman helped me as I was going to order 4 pounds of brisket and then after telling them what I wanted to do they recommended a chuck roast and that was exactly correct! I definitely mixed up the meat I needed to get but they helped. The prices were fantastic and they had such an assortment of meats to get their selection looked great! I definitely will be coming here again as I love supporting local and quality was fantastic! I'll leave you guys with a video of the chuck roast as it came out so tender and almost falling apart! Great quality meat and great customer service!

I downloaded the Yelp app just to leave this review. I've…read morebeen going here for the better part of a decade, and have always LOVED my experiences with Steve, Kevin, and Paul, but now they've got a new owner. I've met you, fella, and you seem like an intelligent owner, save for the folks you have staffed (the place looks better than ever). Every time I go in, *if* I get a "hello", it's always forced and disingenuous. When I make it to the counter, 95% of the time, those who are working one of the few registers make it plainly clear that they've got no real desire to be there in the first place; they're normally communing with eachother in a less than work appropriate fashion, or holding up the check out process due to the chatter with their outside of work acquaintances. One of the employees even responded "Why??" When asked to come cover another register when things were busy last weekend. I've heard more than my fair share of inappropriate banter, and frankly, am sick and tired of returning to the most convenient liquor store in my area, just to be regarded as a nuisance to whatever it is I'm becoming an inconvenience towards. Not only that, but on more than one occasion, it's been abundantly apparent that some of these "employees" have been more than just absent minded, they've been obviously high on something that a drug test would never allow any hiring process to continue...anywhere. I used to be happy to pay a couple extra dollars to support a local business, but these days, I find myself driving further to places like Cub Liquors or Morelli's on the east side to have a much better (and cheaper) experience. I'm sorry if I came off as an absolute jerk, but this is my home town liquor store. The truth needs to be heard. It truly pains me to leave this review.
