They are a small store and if you're looking for wine or spirits, they have a pretty standard selection. However, if you're looking for specialty beer, this is your place. In my *cough* *cough* years of existence living in the Twin Cities, I don't think I have ever come across the intersection of English and Frost in Maplewood before. I guess that is what Yelp is about, right? Finding great businesses you never would have on your own. Awesome beer selection here, including a large make your own six pack selection. Went with the following: Brooklyn Brewery Monster Ale (first time I have seen this anywhere, and it will be my first to sample), Lagunitas Sucks Brown Shugga Substitute Ale (also first time seeing this anywhere), Left Hand Sawtooth Ale, Great Divide Denver Pale Ale, Kona Fire Rock Pale Ale, and Big Sky IPA. Grand total? 12 bucks. Pretty reasonable, if you ask me. Guy at the register was a little slow ringing up the product. Took what felt like five minutes. He said he was filling in. No biggie.

Right away as we walk through the door this looks like a place that would have a lot of fun, fines and variety. We were nicely greeted by the security guard and started to explore. I was extremely surprised at all of the massive blowout deals that they had on off season drinks. $2.99 and $5.99 craft 4 packs, $4.99 thc 4 packs, etc. I'm not sure if they always have such great deals or we just got lucky. They also had a fun "mystery box" of 24 drinks for $12.99 that we said "why not"! The variety in that was pretty good. You're not going to get top shelf - think modelo, Coors, mikes hard but got a few white claws, other seltzers and Leine's as well. Stills great deal, and fun, for $12.99. Not an overly large/different selection of spirits but if you're looking for beers, ciders and seltzers, this place is def worth a stop. We were too early, but they were also setting up for a grand wine tasting this afternoon. It seems that the larger scale tasting might be fairly common here. Happy we decided to stop in and think we'll definitely be back.

Their service is great, the floor employees are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. But the standout part of the store to me is the tastings. I've been to Agave spirits tastings, Rose, Sparkling wine, Minnesota spirits and many more, and they are phenomenal for free! And everything you taste is generally on sale too. I entered to a pretty full bar but surprisingly quiet. Just a bunch of chill folk having a drink! I made my way to the bar where three chairs were empty; as I tried to get situated the kind gal to my left and the kind gentleman to my right pulled each stool closer to them so I could get in on the middle one. So kind! I ordered a drink and after friendly bartender Evan poured the vodka I asked "you take cards?" Evan said they do not but there's an ATM in the corner. As I was starting to grab my purse while I apologized for him pouring the vodka. The ridiculously kind stranger a couple chairs away said "I got her". I turned to him in shock, "oh my goodness you do not have to do that!" He was insistent! This is unheard of!! As Evan was making my drink I asked the kind man his name? He replied "I'm not chatty" I chuckled "oh I'm not trying to talk to you, I just wanted to be able to say: oh Paul brought me a drink." He declined and a few minutes later he quietly left. Shortly after I arrived I didn't realize the two gals to my left stepped out. When they returned I noticed her purse as I asked: WHAT are you doing? This is St Paul, you don't walk away from your purse like that? She chuckled while replying: nahh, I know these people. If that doesn't tell you all you need to know about Vic's!
