Is there LESS than 1 star?
I brought my boat to Tideline 3 weeks ago, running, but would stall out when accelerating. I had a new, non-marine carb on it, new ignition system (high end), and new spark plugs. I told them then that I needed the boat by this Thursday (they said it wouldn't be a problem) and that I just want it to run, BUT, call me in $1000 increments. I wrote it right on the intake sheet. Fast forward 2 weeks with no word from them. I call and I'm told that TJ has been working on it, a safety check had been done and it looks good, the carb has been replaced, and he's looking into replacing the ignition system. Next call, TJ got the ignition system replaced and is working on it today. Call 3, "I know TJ has been working on it. The sheet said (list that he had done that I already knew) and it's running now." I told them that it was running when I brought it in, that wasn't the issue. The issue was the acceleration problem. He said that he would check with TJ and call me back. No call back. I called yesterday, same story, same "I'll call back", no call back. Today, I call to verify that the boat will be ready to pick up before my week long out-of-state vacation. I was told with apologies that he had been trying to call me since last week on my wife's number. I dropped off the boat and supplied my number. On my wife's phone there have been no voice mails or missed calls from them. Not one. So, moving on, he tells me now that my boat motor block is cracked. The motor that would idle well, tug boat around in the water, not lose compression, didn't leak oil, showed no signs other than flooding out when I accelerate, has a crack in the block. And he wants me to believe that? Let me guess, he's going to expect me to pay for all of the useless work that was done that didn't address the root problem, right? I'm not sure what they're going to say when I go in there, but whatever they say, it had better be damned good, or the next conversation that they have about my boat will be with my attorney for a deposition. read more
