My experience with Sara Tingley of the Puyallup branch was terrible. I found myself constantly ignored, only told when things were due ON the actual day they were due, given inaccurate time windows and then they missed one of the documents I was supposed to sign on the closing day and I had to drive to my work place to print, sign, scan and then email the documents they missed two hours before the end of the business day or we wouldn't have been able to close. I have never been so upset with the lack of accountability, considerateness or transparency in such a high value purchase as buying a house.
I am a first time house buyer. When our offer for the home was first accepted I received an email letting me know that Ticlor would be handling the closing. I was given an account number and the end of the email told me someone from Sara's team would be reaching out. I gave the number on the email a call that day and got a voicemail saying how someone would call back after I left a message. There was never a return call. The day the earnest money was due I got a call from my real estate agent asking if I was able to get ahold of anybody to transfer the earnest money. I told him I hadn't had any luck in reaching anyone and he said he had a similar experience. I got lucky when I tried again and got ahold of Sara who then re-iterated that the payment was due at 5pm. It's around 12:00 pm and I'm at work. She presents me with a few options for payment including me getting a cashier's check and her sending a courier to pick it up. I asked her if I can call her back at 1 to arrange the details as I had to finish up work before lunch. She said "yes" but when I called her back both calls went to voicemail. I also text her and I receive the response "Thank you for your message! I will be in touch shortly". I never ever receive a text or a phone call back and I end up driving to the University Place branch to deliver the check in person as I am unable to arrange a courier.
I receive other emails from Ticor but none from Sara at that point. Then one day before the scheduled closing day at 11:48 am. I receive a call from Sara asking me when I can come into the office to sign for closing. She makes no mention or apology how she never answered any of my phone calls or texts. I tell her that I can sign at 3:30 but then I ask if she can tell me what the final amount I need to bring via cashier check is. She tells me that she'll call me "in a few minutes" to give it to me. She calls me back 90 minutes later. Then I receive a call at 3:45 asking if I still plan to sign, and I say of course and that I'll see her tomorrow at 3:30. It turns out Sara meant for me to go to the office that day. Now I'm even more puzzled because I was also told my signing date was the 29th which I took off because I was given no time estimate as to what time the signing would occur. Why was I not told the Thursday or Friday before so I could have better prepared? Essentially I took the wrong day off based off what I was previously told. We reschedule.
The next day signing is uneventful until I receive a call from Sara at around 2:30 pm. They missed a form during the whole process and she asks if I have a printer in which I can print, sign and email the form that is missed. I don't have a printer. She offers to have it printed at one of the branches and I can sign it there thus making me make two trips. I should have insisted they send a notary to me. In the end I'm out driving to make up for their mistake.
A lot of my suffering revolved around me not being clearly explained the plan in advance or the significance of each option presented. The following moment best explains my experience with Ticor Title. When I called to confirm the document transfer at the end of the day Sara said, "Thanks for helping us out". That statement perfectly encapsulates my experience at Ticor Titles. "Us" not "You". I will never voluntarily do business with this company again. read more
