My daughter plays club soccer and is a competitive fencer. She had a month off from soccer, but I…read moredidn't want her to lose her conditioning, plus I wanted her to pick up some new skills. So, I talked her into trying out boxing - to me, boxing has a lot of similarities with fencing- and that's how we found coach Haley. She gave my daughter private lessons on boxing. Most of the one hour workout was strength and conditioning, which was perfect, because that's exactly what my daughter needed. She's in pretty good shape, but coach Haley put together a great program that really challenged her. She almost threw up the first few times coach Haley worked with her. That's a good thing! When she got back to soccer, at her first game, a parent and her coach asked me what I fed her for breakfast because she was flying around all over the field. So, I guess a month with coach Haley paid off. We're going to keep training with coach Haley because she's an experienced athlete and coach. Her program is well designed and challenging. She got my daughter interested in the boxing workout. The footwork is transferable to fencing. The boxing will improve her upper body strength and hand speed, again transferable to fencing. The conditioning is applicable to everything she does. Update 9/27/18 The extra work my daughter put in with coach Haley has already paid off. She is noticeably faster on the soccer field and she is stronger in her upper body. We're very happy with the results.
