It was a drizzly March afternoon when we arrived, and the place was quiet as there was an hour to go until closing. The cafe itself was cute, with mismatched chairs and tables - so familiar in quirky 'offbeat' metropolitan cafes, but offered something a little different in this small town. We had open sandwiches and coffees, the bread was superb, everything was freshly prepared and it tasted like it. The proprietors, a young couple, were pleasant without being overenthusiastic, a trait that rings false in some Dublin cafes. We were left to eat our food in peace. As we paid they kindly gave us a couple of complimentary pastries to take with us - which were most appreciated when we reached our final destination. Shortly thereafter we encountered Ursa Minor bread in Babushka in Portrush! Great to see that a young local business is thriving all over Northern Ireland!

The cottages make for a perfect vacation hub for families visiting the Antrim coast and this little cafe allows for the perfect start to each day of exploration.
