    Dippin' Dots counter

This review omits the water park and, instead, focuses on the ice cream shop and mini golf. We've been coming here for years. The mini golf is one of the best in LBI. The courses are creative and fun, with twists and turns over wooden bridges and under waterfall caverns. In fact, there are two separate paths you can take, making multiple visits worth it. The course is also well maintained and clean. It can get a little crowded, and suffers from the "people waiting right behind you" problem most other mini golf courses have. The ice cream shop is fantastic! They have a standard array of flavors and toppings, and can do most anything you might want to order from an ice cream shop. What makes this place so unique (and the reason we come back) is that they serve Dippin' Dots! Those little cryogenically frozen ice cream beads are hard to find. They serve not just one or two flavors, but an entire assortment of flavors. Our most recent visit was when they had the Kettle Corn flavor on special, which was a delicious sweet and salty mix. You can also expect the classic Dots flavors, such as Mint Chocolate Chip, Banana Split, and Cookies n Cream. Parking can be a little difficult because of how crowded Bay Village and Fantasy Island can get, but once inside there is ample seating. Never tried the water park, but it looks like it might be fun if that's your thing.

Excellent water park. Great for kids. The size is great as it is manageable with smaller kids. 2 hours was plenty.

The workers on each ride also did a great job. This place turns into a whole party at night - they even had a DJ. The kids really enjoyed themselves and it was great to see so many smiles all around. We didn't try the arcade since everyone was so tired from all the outdoor fun. Definitely give this place a try when the kids are bored, lots of fun!

I was there today and left extremely frustrated and disgusted. I know this place is a money trap- that's not my issue. I loaded $30 each on my daughter's cards and $60 on my own. They went through that money so quickly and this was a big activity for spring vacation so I added another $30 each to their cards. So $60 x 3=$180.00. In all, we played maybe 2 hrs and all the money was spent. We tried to get the 9 Wizard of Oz cards from the machine, only to find out one is super extremely rare and you can play a whole game to get the one missing card if you want but the game seems impossible. My issue is the 3 female staff members who were at the check out desk talking to each other most of the time and seemed annoyed when we came to get the incredibly underwhelming prizes. Turns out my 9 y.o. Had like 19000 points and wanted this tiny nothing toy and a slime that retails for $7.99 on amazon but cost 18500 points there. In the end we were like under 300 short for both and I asked if they could possibly overlook the pts and the two women were so incredibly rude. I get it- you don't owe me anything, I was just asking- but don't be rude. I've had other staff do this when it's not many pts and they can see you've spent a bunch of money. So my daughter put back everything and just got the slime which she had more than enough points for and the lady hands it over all rude like she was doing us a favor and didn't even mention she had like 600 points left. There was one younger male employee who was super cool and helpful. A little kindness and engagement goes a long way. Games are overpriced and the fun atmosphere from the 80s and 90s is long gone. They only care about money. Won't be back there again. Even my 9 y.o. Walked out asking why the women had been so mean to her, even before I asked for anything.

We've been going to Breakwater Beach for years. Although it is not as fancy as say Hurricane Harbor, Breakwater Beach HAS renovated in the past few years and everything is sparkly and new. While their number of attractions is on the smaller side, there is still a good enough selection of things to cool you off on a hot day. Not to mention, they have plenty of lifeguards posted at various spots in the park, and they are quick to tell a misbehaving child if they are, for example, horsing around in the wave pool. (Not that I have ANY experience with this... *side eyes rambunctious 6 year old niece*) However, during COVID, this place is DOING THE DAMN THING! Doing any sort of 'fun' activity during COVID is admittedly a calculated risk. Yet I truly felt like I was well-protected because I have never seen such an aggressive form of sanitation in my life. Breakwater Beach had designated sanitizers for all of the attractions - so you got off your inner tube, and it was immediately sprayed with sanitizer. You walked on a ride, you sanitized your hands. You flew down the 'banana slide,' screamed your face off, and handed your matt to get a thorough cleaning. Social distancing markers were everywhere and workers wore masks. I wish we took such drastic sanitation measures at my job, TBH! But the best part is...we booked a birthday party at Breakwater Beach for my rambunctious 6-year-old niece (the one mentioned above who TOTALLY WAS NOT HORSING AROUND IN THE WAVEPOOL!). We were given a designated a cabana for our partying and an associated who was in charge of the party. Shout out to Katie for being the MVP of Breakwater Beach. Holy moly, this girl did not stop for us all day - bringing water, pizza, goodie bags, ensuring everyone was happy...to be so peppy and so helpful is honestly a feather in her cap. Breakwater Beach, please give Katie a raise immediately. We were the first group to book a party there; perhaps we are crazy, but if your child has a birthday in the next few weeks and you're in the area, please inquire about having it at Breakwater Beach. Because the water park is opened at limited capacity, there was essentially no wait for the attractions, and we were able to freely ride all day, up until 6pm at night. Breakwater Beach was always clean, fun, and friendly, but now, it has really become a great place to bring the kids during COVID. Don't sit on this one! PS - their food is amazing. It's just greasy boardwalk food, but it's delicious greasy boardwalk food.

While on a road trip heading south, we decided to explore a few spots. Originally, we planned to stop in Atlantic City, but since we weren't getting tattoos (our longtime artist is based there), it didn't make much sense to go. Thankfully, we figured that out just before hitting Exit 82 on the Garden State Parkway! It felt a little surreal--and honestly, nostalgic--to walk around and see the places we'd only watched on MTV. Naturally, the first place we headed was The Shore Store (also reviewed separately!). We purchased a round-trip Sky Ride pass for two for under $20. The ride was smooth, peaceful, and gave us a great overhead view of the pubs, games, and amusement rides the Jersey Shore crew once enjoyed. After the ride, we grabbed some snacks, including shrimp and fries. It was a cool, crispy, not greasy, meal that hit the spot. Overall, this stop was a fun, quick detour full of throwback energy and beach-town charm. If you're ever nearby and want a little slice of pop culture and coastal boardwalk vibes, it's worth the visit!

With that said, we had never played OC Adventure Golf prior to last week. Why play this course now? Well, simply because it was the only course on the boardwalk that was open on a Wednesday night after Labor Day. I will mention as a sidebar that we had tried to play here either once or twice in the past and each time their CC terminal was down/broken so that put the kibosh on that. The layout of the course is bizarre. It is essentially laid out in two parts. The first few holes and the last few holes are close to the boardwalk but the middle nine are pushed back by themselves going in/out of a series of quasi-caves via a long walkway which you need to take to reach them. Adding to the interesting layout is that you are next door to the OC Waterpark and several of the their slides/lazy river are all around you while you play the middle nine. Plus just for some added fun the holes are also spread out over two levels. In terms of difficulty this one is in the middle. None of this is cupcake easy like at Tee-Time where multiple holes in one are guaranteed but it's not break your stones hard either. Call it at best "mildly challenging". For true putt-putt street cred there is a free game hole at the end but it's a real SOB as you need to hit up an incline and across a small narrow strip of carpet that tilts ever so slightly right and into a small hole. In other words, good F-ing luck. For $6 per person it was a decent value and an overall fun course that I'm pretty sure we'll play again. (If you're looking for more info about the course, good luck.
