I took my 2019 Sport Glide in for its 15K service, plus two new tires, to Thunder Mountain Service Department. Jessie was my service writer and was professional and friendly. Service appointment was held on time and finished relatively quickly. There was an issue with the new rear tire, but Jessie addressed the problem quickly with a follow-up appointment to replace the tire. It was all done with a smile and no hassle. Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure working with Giovanni on my 2020 Sport glide purchase. When someone treats me right I feel the least I can do is ensure their leadership knows how appreciated they were by the customer. Goo seemed genuine about taking whatever time necessary to ensure I made the right purchase... we went back and forth over a number of options until I finally landed on the Sport Glide. Hip even made a comment saying, I don't care how long we have to be here, I won't leave until you make a selection you are happy with." Never before have I heard someone say that in your industry! Throughout the whole process Gio kept the experience fun and exciting, I could tell that I could spend 10K or 40K and the energy and attitude would be the same. As Gio knows I am pushing hard for my wife to getter first bike and I will absolutely make sure it comes from your location simply because of this experience. On a side note, the tour you give was top notch, yet again industry leading and extremely informative, every other sale rep I came in contact with was extremely helpful and friendly. I was going to buy new riding gear online but Tina and her team took the time to make sure I had the right gear, which lead me to spend another $500 bucks in your apparel store! These guys are as crooked as they come. If you're in the market for a new or used motorcycle, you MUST read this review in its entirety as it is my personal experience. As someone that has nearly a decade of experience doing as a sales and finance manager for Ford Motor Company, I know how to play the games that dealers like to play at the highest level. I am no longer in that industry because of toxic dealers like thunder Mountain Harley. I was interested in a iron 883 and had found one at Ace motorsports for $9851 out the door with only 800 miles on it. I walked in to Harley and they had a used iron 883 with 5000 miles on it and I told them the only way I would buy this bike is if they didn't play any of the games and they made me a better deal than what I already had since it was a comparable bike. as soon as I was shown the numbers, the price out the door with all of their upcharges over the price brought it to $13,250. This is what is called "packing". They packed in a ceramic and antitheft for $799, a dealer and handling fee for $400 and a reconditioning fee for $995. So we also looked at a new bike in the same worksheet. The new bike was a Street Bob and the salesman had told me it was in the "high teens". So that's approximately $17k-$18k in my mind. When they showed me the worksheet, they had marked up the price to $21,399 and then added on a $799 ceramic and antitheft package, $400 dealer and handling, And a freight charge of $1879. So all in all out the door the bike was over $25,000. A dealer will do everything they can to get you focused on payment. Do not fall for this. It is how they hide grotesque profit. If you focus on the out the door number, and all of the itemized fees, the monthly payment will work itself out. Go get preapproved for a motorcycle loan at your bank and then you will have a ballpark on the interest rate. Do not walk into the finance office and ask them to finance everything for you because legally they can mark up your interest-rate that you could actually receive in the open market anywhere between 2.5% and 2% depending on how many months you finance. So if they tell you 6.99%, that means you could likely receive 4.99%. So if you stay focused on the monthly payment, all they have to do is tinker with that interest rate markup and they will be able to manipulate your payment into arrange without ever touching the price or what it's called the "front end profit". When I asked why they started playing games when I told them that I was not going to do this, explicitly, he replied "we have a process for how we work deals." If you ever hear those words, stand up and walk out. The "process" is what a dealer uses in order to maximize their profit, potential and prevent you from receiving the best deal you could find by searching elsewhere with more honesty and integrity. There's usually what we call in the business "three pencils". The first pencil is what "scrapes the customer off the ceiling". The reason why it is called that is because as soon as you see it, the first reaction you have is to jump out of your chair and nearly hit the ceiling. The first price is usually padded with extreme and grotesque amounts of profit. Meant to get the wheeling and dealing going. It's also intended to weed out the people that are either payment focused and not focused on price or can't buy anything. So the expected reaction is the first pencil either locks them down at the highest profit possible or scares you out of your mind and you start negotiating. NEVER accept the first pencil. If you accept the first pencil, you're a "Lay Down". Don't be a laydown. The second pencil is usually their counter offer to your offer. Stick to your guns and go as low as you think you should get, take no prisoners. Make it the lowest payment that you think would be feasible on this within reason. Don't try to be the nice guy and split the difference. This will lead to them going for the final commitment from you and the third pencil, which is usually the lowest the dealer likes to go. If the dealer does not listen to anything you have said prior to working numbers and hits you with the highest profit potential that they possibly can, this is not the person that is going to take care of you if you have a problem after the sale. The goal is for them to profit as much money as possible every time they see you. In summary: 1. Focus on the out-the-door price with a list of itemized fees and charges 2. Never pay the upcharges, regardless of the story you get from the dealer 3. Don't buy from a dealer that wants to work "the process" 4. Never finance with the dealer without getting a preapproval from your bank or credit Union. 5. Always subtract 2% from the interest rate and Negotiate the interest rate if you receive financing from the dealer that isn't an advertised promotion from the manufacturer. read more

Thunder Mountain is as bad if not worse then Avalanche. Tacks on thousands of dollars to the pre owned advertised price for ceramic coating, service, security...to increase their profit. Very high pressure and forces you to haggle by offing you little to nothing on your trade and hiding all the ad on fees only wanting to discuss payment and not bottom dollar. There are a lot better places in Colorado to purchase a bike that will only tack on D&H to the advertised price and will give you a fair trade value without a fight. Save your time, energy and money and go to another dealer. read more

I was on my way to buy a bike from a private party, when I stopped in to give Thunder Mountain a chance to match the price of the one I was looking at. After my experience working for two other Harley dealerships, I figured that I would be laughed out of the building. 15 minutes later, they had accepted my offer and I was on the road in just over an hour. It still doesn't feel real. I honestly cannot believe that they were willing to work with me, but now my dream bike for the past 4 years is sitting in my garage. We had an emergency situation and needed a our bike checked out, we road from Ohio and started noticing a horrible shaking at low speeds, around turns, etc.. we also noticed we now need a new front tire (guessing because of the shaking and wobble) they would not even look at the bike unless we AGREED to buy 2 new tires. Our rear tire is brand new and they did not have the rear tire in stock they said it would be 2 days till it got there, we can not wait 2 days let alone wait for a tire we do not need....so they said they would not even look at the bike to see if anything else could be causing the problem. I think that is HORRIBLE business and I really hope carma rolls back your way. read more

Deceptive Sales Practice - I was told by two sales people that all their bikes "basically" come fully optioned. I requested the build documentation to make sure my two bikes had all options, of course I still have not received it and my 2022 PanAmerica was not fully optioned. Failure to Deliver Service - this stealership charged me $600 for pannier/top case installation with a single key.....guess what, they were delivered with two different keys and they told me now I had to wait until August. Piss poor service dept. Collusion between Sales Management and Finance - I was told on the front end negotiation by the sales manager that "$499 theft protection" is now required like a documentation fee. Later corroborated by the finance guy. I actually trusted these folks, but verified with other Harley dealerships that is a bunch of bunk and I overpaid by $1000 for two bikes. STAY AWAY!!! The red flag should have been that they arent even registered with the BBB! I ordered wheels for $2k that wont be delivered for months and they wont cancel/refund my money!! read more

Bought a brand new 2023 Pan America from Thunder Mountain Harley-Davidson- 3 months later the fuel pump is acting up and they won't even get me in to check it out for a week and a half. Fuel pumps are back ordered- you might want to consider a KTM, BMW, or YAMAHA if you're looking into adventure bikes. Can't even ride the first month of summer after spending tens of thousands on a BRAND NEW machine. They had to bring this bike into their service shop before I even pulled off the lot because the dash wouldn't come on do yourself a favor and find another dealership and machine before you end up waiting all summer to ride your new motorcycle. I have people ask me about this bike every time I ride it- I know what I'll be telling them. read more

I'm a sales professional and was selling cars back in the 80's when throwing the customers keys on the roof of the building was just one of the ways we kept a potential sale from leaving the lot..lol, crazy times. In my retirement I thought it's be fun to sell some Harley's so I applied and was hired. I never disclosed my previous work history in the car business during the interview and let them believe I was a real greenhorn..I just wanted to be treated like everyone else and not a ringer..which I am. I've sold thousands of cars and hundreds of boats in my career, I'm no greenhorn, just a bit grey now. When I meet Harley owners we always hit it off and I knew as a salesman I'd be a genuine asset to the dealership. The first red flag was during the first week when a sales manager had us FNG's in a room and said these words.."I need you all to 'drink the punch' and just do what we tell you to do"..doesn't sound to horrific on the surface but as training went on I understood better what he meant. Dirty tactics, shady tricks, what I'd call 'Old School' sales gimmicks. I quit and it really broke my heart cuz I really liked those Harley Davidson bikes..they're amazing! But the management team here is as crooked as the Colorado river as my daddy used to say, and he was the original horse trading SOB that made this country great, love ya pops! So I'd highly recommend you check your deal and watch out for tricks and manipulation. They're also info hounds and will dog you for your phone number, email, friends names and so on, so just be on your guard is all I'm saying, good luck out there, ride safe! read more

Large dealership midway between DIA and Cheyenne. Great place to rent a ride to explore the Rockies, Wyoming or for a run to Sturgis. Folks there are very friendly and accommodating. The on-line reservation system makes sure you get exactly what you want reserved in advance. Pick up is easy and quick, returns were drama free and the bike I rented was virtually brand new and in perfect working order. Prices are really reasonable. I will definitely use Thunder Mountain in future for rental rides. read more

Tank was scratched to to the metal when I picked it up. Dealer denied responsibility. I'm sorry to say that I did not have a good experience with the service department at this dealership, and I'm wondering about the overall future of HD if 'service' isn't their first name. Was on my way from Aurora to Sturgis with a group of friends when I had a sudden problem with my shifter. Apparently a pretty common break...a stripped shift shaft and shift lever. Probably a 20 min fix. Got there about 845am, they opened at 900am. First word I heard was "if you don't have an appointment, move over hear". Got the guys attention, and pointed out my situation who basically said "get in line". So after they checked in all the bikes w/appointments, the service guy came back to me and said, he'd try to work me in but it wouldn't be until about 3pm! So during the checkin process, I mentioned that I should just buy the parts and install it myself. He said "let me check to make sure I have the parts" (really?) which he actually didn't! (again, really!?). So, I had him call around and found a dealership in Cheyenne that had the parts I needed. Ultimately, I rode up their (slightly hobbled) bought the parts, and fixed the bike in about 30 minutes myself in the Cheyenne dealership parking lot. C'mon... bikers with small breaks need quick fixes when they're on their way to a major rally. Surely we can be prepared and figure out how we can service the people that keep HD and their dealerships alive better than this. read more
