To start this off, my car needed two new back tires. They were getting in the "potentially illegal"…read morezone because their tread was so worn. (Fun fact! It's illegal in some areas to drive without at least 2/32 of your tread left.) Anyway, my local dealer quoted me $500+ to replace both tires including tire cost and labor cost. For two tires. Ouchies. So, I was pretty quick to run nearly-screaming the other way. After hearing dubious stories about some other tire stores as well as doing some checking into online reviews, the 5th Street Tire Co came up having good reviews. I gave them a call as I wanted a same-day appointment, and they gave me their earliest available time. It was an hour later than I could make it. I asked for an earlier time, and they said "Okay. We'll make it work." Yay! Their quoted price was $350 which was definitely a nice price break compared to what my dealer wanted. They said it would take less than an hour. When it came time for my appointment, I showed up a half-hour earlier just in case they could fit me in earlier. It took a bit of time for someone to show up at the front desk, but once they did, they were super helpful and assured me it'd be next in queue. They have a small waiting area that was showing a soap opera. It's definitely not the "highest" quality of seating or anything, but it was more comfortable than other places I've been, and it was quite and comfortable enough to read a book I'd brought. I did take a short stroll outside, but the nearby residential neighborhood struck me as slightly concerning, so I'm not sure I'd recommend taking a walk unless you're familiar with the neighborhood. Despite dropping it off a half-hour earlier, they still had my tires changed, rotated, and ready within an hour - and get this! It ended up only being $250! I pretty much cut my original quoted price in half, and they did a fantastic job. Throughout the entire process, they were extremely friendly and accommodating, and nobody once tried to upsell me anything. Nobody tried to fake me into purchasing new brakes, getting the oil changed (though that would have been warranted since it's due for a new change in 200 miles), or anything. Nothing about it felt "shady", and I never once felt anything but respected as a customer. Very impressed compared to the horror stories I always hear about tire places. Everyone was courteous, extremely happy to work around my schedule, and really friendly. I'm super, duper happy with my service here, and I will go out of my way to buy tires here again in the future.

One of the worst experiences in road travel is having vehicle problems when you are hundreds of miles from home. I left home having just discovered a headlight out and figured I just survive until returning home. But driving through Cedar Falls, I realized that *both* lights were out, and I decided to take a chance on a dealership instead of just hitting a parts store. But Deery's service department took care of me as quickly as I drove up to the bay. I began to worry though, when the wait reached an hour. I found that they had tested the headlight replacement as a diagnostic and found that there was a whole fuse panel dead. And even the high-beam bulbs were not working. The tech spent *another* hour digging around under the hood and eventually found a bare wire that had shorted out - and in a couple more minutes all was well again. Of course in the meantime, my original high-beams had been picked up by the "garbage collector" and they had to leave the replacement bulbs in the vehicle. Mark pointed this out to me where the letters NC - no charge - appeared on the bill. Yes, it was a little more pricey than a simple bulb replacement, but not unreasonable for the assurance that my Camry would be running properly for the rest of the trip. And all the time spent in the waiting room showed me a dealership that cares about its customers. Keep up the good work, folks! And thanks!
