    Breakfast with my love
    Deborah K.

My husband and I visited Than Kieu on our way home from a 4-day stay in London. We were looking for Vietnamese food and thought the reviews sounded pretty good. We were seated immediately after we walked through the door and were given menus. I ordered the curry chicken soup with vermicelli and my husband ordered the saté beef soup. We were impressed by how quickly we were served our meals and how good they looked. The curry chicken soup was delicious with lots of chicken, noodles and potatoes in it. The flavour of the broth was just right. The saté beef soup had plenty of noodles, protein and was topped with some fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. My husband agreed that his broth also tasted great and had the right amount of spice. The washrooms were spotlessly clean and modern and the dining room was also very clean. We would definitely go back!

    Combo pho with Thai peppers

Pleasantly surprised!! Super find. In a strip mall!! I mean what are the odds that I'll find a legit, delicious and amazing pho all the way here in London?? The odds are low! Hamilton is primary Italian and Croatians. My family is there. But nobody really hang out in London so I didn't know what to expect. But love when no expectations turn out to be great. Came here around 10:30 and it was packed! The place looks great too. Not typical hole in the wall pho. Massive! I came around/before Christmas on a Saturday. Everyone was dressed up. The odds!! Ordering was easy. Write down your numbers on a paper. Kinda like dim sum. They were crazy busy but you can get their attention: fight for it a little. Good came out fast and delicious. Again, no expectations. Exceeded it! Got Thai peppers with it. Naturally, I needed more. Got several more. I had their combo large pho and grilled chicken bun salad with the ice coffee. Big portions, I usually don't eat pho as I tend to go for other soups. But I really enjoyed it. Maybe it was the 18 degrees weather! Maybe cause it was snowing. Maybe cause I was catching a flight after. So many maybes but definitely delicious. If I'm in the area again and if they are open, I'll definitely return. Even fight the crowd and parking for it!!

Rice with grilled pork and chicken! The cucumber shaped heart was a cute touch.

Wasn't planning on eating here originally, but had to duck in here for shelter from the sudden and extreme snowstorm that occurred today! I ordered a beef flank pho with beef tendon (small sized, whereas my dad ordered the large), my mom got the small bun bo hue, while my sister got a grilled pork and chicken rice. The small portion for me was just fine and perfectly filling, but my mom found hers to be overly small. Overall, I thought that the vermicelli was perfectly cooked to be al dente, but the beef flank was very roughly cut and very tough/rough as well. The broth was full of MSG flavour, causing me to be extremely thirsty afterwards, and I was also very disappointed by the fact that the advertised tendon ended up being a measly one small piece. My sister thought that her rice was a bit dry, and it was evident that her meat was very fatty - in fact, there were massive chunks of pork and chicken fat. She found the rice dish just okay, but not impressive by any means. I think that the best dish was my mom's bun hue. Unlike the typical dish that we're used to, this particular restaurant served it only with beef shank (none of the different sausage variations and pig blood pudding) and a different type of thinner noodles. That being said, the broth was still very tasty and rich. Was an interesting visit, but the food really pales in comparison to the Vietnamese options back home in the GTA!

Hair baked into spring roll :( meat so charred it left black marks all over the container

TK has always been amazing. We were introduced to it several years ago and frequently had our group of 8-10 people lunch there. These last few times we ordered take out (because of COVID), it has been absolutely terrible. The food has been sub par; always burnt, tasteless dishes and just a downright sad amount of toppings. The cuts of meat are becoming grizzlier and they're practically inedible. I found a hair baked into my spring roll this time. Which is why I'm writing the review. I feel like it is also worth mentioning that the service is getting shittier. We had ordered an hour ahead of time to have our take out for 4:45PM. It was my birthday and I hadn't have had TKs in a long time. We get there at 4:45 to pick up our food and are told that it's not ready yet and to wait outside and they would call us. They said it would only take 10 minutes. No problem right? So we wait in the car out front, very very hungry, and at 5:10 we call the store to see if the food is ready yet. Apparently they still are not done and to wait a bit longer. 5:20 rolls around and a woman who had ordered for 5:30 gets her take out and leaves. We eventually got it an hour after our scheduled take out time. I'm very unimpressed and disappointed. Their excuse is "We're busy". We only ordered 2 small dishes. I really didn't want to wait and begged my spouse to just get some chicken nuggets and go home. But he insisted that we wait. Never coming back.

Not that great unfortunately. Beef was dry and the sauce was very thin and not tomato sauce at all.

We were in London visiting family and had a craving. Looked up for some suitable restaurants nearby and Pho 4 U was the closest. It was well worth the visit! It's a bright and airy restaurant, with a modern theme. Neat Vietnamese food-related images on the walls. It was clean obviously the owners take pride in it. We started with some spring rolls (A01) and fresh shrimp rice wraps (A02)with peanut sauce, followed by two medium bowls of rare beef Pho (P02) and a medium vermicelli with grilled chicken (B04). The spring rolls and rice wraps were perfect. We fought over them and wished we had ordered more. My 7 year old devoured the grilled chicken and extra spring roll with the vermicelli. The Pho broth was fragrant and tasty. The medium bowl was just perfect, added some fresh bean sprouts and a squeeze of lime and we were happy. Definitely will be a regular stop on our visits to London!

The soup came out in a somewhat small metal bowl which in my opinion wouldn't be a large order anywhere else. I tasted the broth and found it to be quite lackluster without much fragrance or beef flavor. Tried the Vietnamese spring roll and although it was nice and crispy on the outside, the filling didn't have much flavour as it was pretty much just vermicelli inside without any pork, shrimp, or mushroom. Tried the dipping sauce and it didn't taste much of anything either. I've never seen a dipping sauce for Vietnamese spring rolls that was orange (what's up with that). Anyway wasn't to my liking and wouldn't likely return. There has to be better options on the London area for good pho.

Shakes are subject to availability, if the fruit they have is no good, they will not make it. The durian shake tasted great, I thought it was much better than the mung bean shake. Service & atmosphere: Standard Vietnamese restaurant service and table layout, not sure how else to describe it. Pricing: Not too expensive, one to two dollar signs.

This place doubles as a Vietnamese grocer and ran by an older couple. A small, simple, plain restaurant with reasonable prices. We were the only other couple there so service was quick. As a starter, we ordered the beef skewer which was very flavourful and delicious. I ordered pho, and my boyfriend, the vermicelli bowl. I was pleasantly surprised by the flavour of the pho. It tasted a little different than the most places. The toppings were a little skimpy but price reflects it. I was impressed by my boyfriend's vermicelli bowl, not because of the spring roll and bbq pork but cause of the other toppings and fish sauce. The flavours really hit close to home. The spring roll was like everywhere else, boring and blah, and the pork was the same. We were very happy with our meals.
