I send my two dogs out with Amy everyday. I trust Amy so much, I would send my human kids if she'd take them! My pups love their daily trips! The come back tried, clean, and happy! I've used other local services in the past. They were unreliable as well as having little consistency in their staff and dog pack. Sometimes they would forget to take one of the dogs. During the muddy seasons, they would drop them off with very muddy paws which would end up all over the house. I never have to worry about details like that with Amy! Amy also sends helpful updates on health or behavior changes and great pictures! She drops off adorable gifts for their birthdays and holidays. read more

I could rave all day about how great Amy has been for our Pit mix, Bean. She's been walking and occasionally boarding him for over a year, since he was a very nervous 4-month old who would chew up anything in his path. Thanks to Amy, he's now a (mostly) well-behaved, well-socialized, healthy city dog. She trains him while he's with her, has given us tips to use at home, turned us on to great pet resources, and even been helpful with our new kitten. In addition to ensuring our pup gets a great hike with his pack every day, Amy was a lifesaver when he got sick while we were traveling. She noticed he had an abscess on his side during his regular walk, helped our friends who were pet-sitting get him to the right vet, and checked in with us and them all along the way to ensure he'd be ok. A highlight of my day is seeing her Insta posts of the "pack" romping together. And she sends me personal messages and texts anytime something particularly cute happens. Bean's massive grin and flopping tongue says it all. read more

Throw Me A Bone - Bean & his squad - Dog Walkers Near Me

Amy is AMAZING!!! We found a dog, his name is Boo. We are trying to find a wonderful and loving home for him and Amy is helping us socialize him by taking him into the city on her dog group walks. Boo loves his time with Amy, you can tell just the way he gets to excited to see her and he just stares at her when his time is over and they say their good-bye's until their next walk. Amy is what every dog-walker/dog-trainer should be. I can't give her enough stars...if you want your dog to be happy and get exhausted by having a day full of running, playing & having other canine friends, this is the girl for you. Amy is the BEST!!! read more

Trusting my beloved Westie Hamish to someone else is a big deal! After 6 years with the same doggie day care person, I had to find someone new when I moved to San Francisco a few months ago. Amy was amazing with Hamish from the very first time she met him. He can be a little protective when someone new comes into the house. Amy sat down on the floor and gave treats to encourage him and won his trust really quickly. It was clear how much she cares for, and has a natural affinity with, dogs. Going out for his daily play dates with Amy and the rest of the pack is the highlight of Hamish's day! And it gives me great peace of mind that he's in such good hands when I'm at work for the day. read more

Amy pretty much helped my husband and I raise our energetic puppy, Luna, on amazing off leash walks during the work week. I have to thank Amy for Luna's amazing recall and for helping us train her. Amy doesn't just walk your dog, she helps shape and mold them into amazing dogs and companions! I appreciate her constant communication with us and how she is always available by text if we had any last minute concerns. She is so attentive and treats Luna as her own. Every time she came to pick up Luna, her tail would wag like crazy which is always so telling, especially since our dog is on the shyer side. I can't recommend her and her services enough. She's the best! read more

If I could give Amy and David 10 stars I would! They are the absolute best! Amy has walked and loved our dog Dexter from the time he was just a little pup. I am very skeptical of other people watching my boy, but with Amy I have full confidence. He lights up when he hears her coming and always looks so happy in the photos Amy takes of him when he is out playing with her, and all of his dog buddies. I regularly upload her photos to The Pack website and claim them as my own. :) When I come home from work Dexter is calm and happy to see me from a fun day of playing. I don't have that guilt of a bored dog at home thanks to Amy. I have also happily boarded Dexter with Amy and David on several occasions, he loves going home with them. Everyday I get some sort of update about his adventures from Amy that makes me smile. Not sure who has more fun, me on my vacations or Dexter on his at Amy and David's house... Simply put; they are the best. I fear the day that I won't live in the same area and I'll have to try and find someone to take care of and love Dexter the way Amy and David do. I don't think it will be possible. read more

What can we say Amy & Dave are the best! They give us cute pics and updates on our little Kono when she goes out on walks. We've also had them board Kono while we went away (Amy even gave her a bath)! You can totally tell that Amy & Dave love our canine critters. My wife and I feel so lucky to have found them. read more

Amy is great! My english bulldog is 11 years old and doesn't get along too well with other dogs. Even knowing this, Amy takes her and is terrific about giving me periodic updates and sending pictures! Although my dog still needs a muzzle on walks, i am confident that one day she'll be able to walk w/ Amy and the pack without it! I appreciate the fact that Amy takes the dogs to a dog park and not just around the block. Kensington (my dog) comes home tired and well exercised. Amy also gives the dogs natural treats like boiled chicken. I was also apprehensive about giving keys to my house to someone I didn't know ... but I really trust Amy and am truly happy that I found such a great chick to walk my 4 legged monster. ;o) Thanks Amy!! read more

It was the first time I would be away from my dogs for almost 3 weeks. I was going on vacation, visiting old friends and family, splash in the ocean, have amazing food... still I was SAD and trying to find a way to avoid 3 weeks of vacation in paradise. Then we found Amy and it was clear that taking care of dogs it is not just her job, it is her passion. Now I didn't have any more excuses. I shed a tear or two saying goodbye, Amy gave me a hug and assured that our kiddos would be in good hands and for the next weeks I got the most amazing photos of them with happiness stamped on their faces, running, fetching...I started getting a little worried: Do they miss me? Will they want to come back to me? Amy and David dropped them off on time. They were clean, well fed, healthy and happy. She even got them a toy that still gets them nuts! I know that they miss Amy, David and their two frenchies but they will see them all again soon! read more

We are so lucky to have Amy walking our 2 dogs 5 days a week. One of our dogs is blind and needs extra attention. The other dog can be defensive around people but Amy is amazing with both of them and I never worry when they are with her. They are always excited to see her. Amy is a great communicator (quick responses, notes, pictures etc.). She also boards dogs at a great house with a backyard. If you want to know your dog is being loved and exercised and well taken care of, hire Amy & David. read more

Since Day #1 Amy has been a dog-owner's dream! She is very sweet, trustworthy, responsible and my 10 month-old French bulldog, Sunny, absolutely LOVES her! She posts the cutest pictures of my pup and his doggie crew and he always looks so happy and healthy when he's with her. She has been flexible with my sometimes wacky schedule, which is really helpful because finding another dog walker with a busy schedule like mine is no easy task. Amy is a TRUE dog lover, which makes her such a great dog walker! When I have asked Amy to keep an eye on my pup (when he's been sick or acting out of character) she has given me useful doggie information/advice and follow up reports, which are very helpful. She is nurturing and I am stoked to have found her and this awesome dog walking company! Two thumbs up and all paws in the air for Amy and Throw Me A Bone! read more

Amy is amazing! She has been caring for our dog each week for two years when we relocated to San Francisco. I cannot say enough about the love and compassion Amy has for animals. We feel at ease knowing our dog is so well cared for while we are at work or on vacation. Our dog is older and has some health issues. That doesn't stop her from having a great time on group walk days or while boarding at Amy's house. Amy goes above and beyond for us and really understands each dog's needs. She has picked up medication when we were out of town, offered to take our dog to the vet, and has helped us with pet sitting at the last minute. We feel very fortunate to have Amy and our dog adores her! Lastly, I really appreciate the great photos Amy takes of the dogs and the regular updates we receive if we are out of town. read more

We ALL love Amy...what more can I say! We rescued/adopted 2 female Portuguese Podengo Pequenos who absolutely love, love, love going on adventures with Amy and their pack of dog friends. I can always tell when Amy arrives if I'm home when she picks them up because our pups rush to the door and start whining in happy anticipation of her arrival. They always come home tired and relaxed and a note from Amy telling us of the days activities. We've also boarded the girls with Amy and David so while we're off on some great adventure we relax knowing that they are enjoying open runs, walks on the beach and hanging with Amy's dogs. What could be better? We've since moved to New York and really miss having Amy in our lives. Needless to say, a very high recommendation for Throw Me A Bone. When we come back to SF, we'll be looking for Amy to take us back into the fold. read more

David and Amy have been an absolute staple in my and my pups existence for almost a year now. I'm actually embarrassed to have not written this sooner! David takes my little girl out daily and Amy is always close by and invested in my pups well-being as well. I never have to think twice or worry about Desi when she's with them and rest assured she's with folks who treat her as their own. David exhausts her daily and spoils her on occasional overnight stays so I always have a happy puppy. These two are forever going above and beyond from supporting Desi even when she's been on bed rest and can't run with the pack to suiting her up in warm hoodies on a cold day. I would highly recommend Throw Me A Bone to anyone with a dog deserving of the best from their walkers/care givers (and which dog isn't deserving of that?!) read more

Amy is the best thing that's happened to my dog, Brody, and I since we moved to San Francisco just over 6 months ago! Brody was adjusting to the Bay Area and was new to off-leash walks, but Amy took the time to get him comfortable enough to be reliably responsive to her recall so that he could play off-leash with the other dogs in the pack. I've also boarded Brody with Amy and her pups and was able to travel knowing that he was getting just as good of care as he would have been if he was home with me. Amy takes the time to make sure each dog would be a positive addition to the pack and is impressively acute. She is always quick to let me know if Brody is having any behavioral changes so that I'm able to address any issues that might require additional attention. Overall, I cannot recommend Amy enough. She's an extremely caring and attentive walker who will make sure that your dog is well-cared for and well-exercised. read more

I was referred to Amy by a friend and I cannot say enough good things about her and the team!! I have a very playfull boxer dog that will go running for days and days!! Well i picked her up after 4 days of being with Amy and she is snoring up a storm!! Amy took some great photos daily and sent me an update everyday with how my baby girl was getting on. She has taken a puppy dog with a nervous disposition and allowed her to flourish with love, care and lots of fun and games. Overall Throw Me A Bone gets a 10 out of 10 and i'll be using them again in time to come! Finally my puppy has a home away from home! Thanks team!! read more

Amy at throw me a bone was referred to us by a trusted neighbor. I had been unemployed and was starting back to work so we needed to find a dog walker for our new rescue adopted, Bixby. Bixby was just over a year old when he started walking with Amy and the Throw me a bone pack. Bixby took to Amy in no time and always gets so excited when she comes to pick him up. The saying a tired dog is a happy dog is something we experience on a nightly basis. I look forward to reading the notebook Amy provided with Bixby's daily events and the surprise txt photos Amy will send. Amy and the throw me a bone team are so dedicated to the dogs, and flexible with us humans and our schedules. We are so thankful to have Bixby in our life and thankful Amy is his walker. read more

I cannot say enough about Amy and Throw Me A Bone! Our Am Staff rescue, Miss Coco, loves going out with the pack - she gets so excited when Amy walks through the door. Miss Coco has made so many great dog friends and her socialization has improved ten fold since starting with Throw Me A Bone in January. Amy is great at keeping in touch - she sends us pictures from the walks and leaves us notes to let us know how Miss Coco's day was. She is super flexible, too, and has helped us out with several last minute requests. I never worry when Miss Coco is with Amy - she is well taken care of, loved to pieces and gets a ton of exercise. We hit the jackpot with Throw Me A Bone! read more

We have been blessed with two phenomenal dog walkers -- Lilly Pritchard, followed by Throw Me A Bone. Lilly promised that she would keep her business until she found someone she could endorse 100% and she kept her word. Amy and David have been amazing and we thank them (and Lilly) every day when we leave the house and know that, no matter what, they will make sure that our little boy gets his walk and tummy rub and treat. I keep a notebook on the table and Amy writes every day, letting me know how everything went and if there's cause for concern. My dog is fairly high maintenance, but Amy gets it. She understands my dog and how I treat him and she understands. My dog LOVES her. I whole-heartedly recommend athrow Me A Bone. These are the people you can trust with your pet. read more

There's a theme developing in these reviews: Amy and David are amazing! When I became a first-time dog owner almost two years ago one of my greatest concerns was my pup Cerbe getting enough attention on days when I'm at work or traveling on business. After another member of our puppy training class recommended Amy she came out to meet my pack. Cerbe and I were both immediately won over--Amy asked the right questions to put my mind at ease, demonstrated she clearly has a good understanding of dog psychology and training fundamentals, and got down on the floor to engage with Cerbe immediately (much to his enjoyment). The last few years have been fantastic. I can honestly say that Amy's arrival is the highlight of Cerbe's day. When he hears the door open downstairs at the right time of the morning, whether I'm home or not, he sprints to see her (whereas otherwise he's a total Daddy's boy). My favorite "feature" of the service is that Cerbe goes out with roughly the same group of other dogs each day and gets to spend most of his time out off leash and engaged in very active play. I think this consistency in the group and focus on exciting play rather than "just a walk" is why he loves his time with Amy so much. Personally, I love the candid photos (Amy is a great pet photographer in her free time) that arrive by SMS regularly, particularly when I'm on a business trip or tied up at the office. Seeing my Cerbe sprint down a trail, chased by his best puppy friends, ears streaming in the wind is a cure to almost all ailments. In short, Amy and David have transformed what was my biggest area of concern about balancing professional responsibilities and dog parenthood into one of the best aspects of our pack's life together. I couldn't recommend Throw Me a Bone more highly! read more

Amy and David are kind and gentle pack leaders that use positive reinforcement. It is obvious that they have a very special bond with each one of the dogs that they walk. Normally my dog takes a while to warm up to people, but she loved Amy from day one. Throw Me A Bone is a very responsible and caring professional dog walking business. read more

Amy & David are amazing! I started using their services when I relocated to SF from NYC about 3 months ago and my dog has never been happier. She has always been a little nervous and skittish but she's been doing so much better with Amy & David. Coming from New York, I never imagined my dog would be able to go off leash, but now she can run around off leash and seems so happy! David & Amy's communication is also incredible. I love receiving picture text messages of my dog looking like she's having a blast with her doggy friends. They also leave a daily note at my apartment and have a FB page for all the dogs. It has been so great to know my dog is so happy and in good hands when I'm busy working late hours. I'd highly, highly recommend using their services! read more

If you are looking for a fantastic dog walker I highly recommend Amy from Throw Me a Bone. She has been walking our Lab/Pit mix for 3.5 years now and has been nothing but amazing. She takes her group to McLaren park where she will let them play and tire them out so you come home to a happy and sleepy pup. Our dog gets so excited to see Amy and the best part is you can see all the fun they are having because she takes beautiful photos of their outings that you can see on Instagram. Amy also boards which is great so I don't have to feel guilty that I am on vacation and our dog is sitting in a kennel. Instead she is living in a house and running around in the redwoods and going to the beach. I completely trust Amy and her husband to take the best care of our dog. She is a great communicator, extremely reliable and is highly skilled with working with dogs of all sizes and personalities. I think the only reason our dog has any manners is because of Amy and how well she works with her. If you need a reliable, fantastic dog walker reach out to Amy, she is the best! read more

Amy rocks!! We boarded our beloved dog with Amy and her husband for 7 days while we were away on vacation. Amy's professionalism, responsiveness, warmth, and obvious love for dogs totally won us over. While we were away, she sent us camera phone shots of our dog each day, so that we could see how he was doing. As per Amy's policy, our dog was never left alone so where ever she went, he went! I was happy that our dog was in a loving home environment, getting 2 long walks on the beach each day. I also really appreciate that Amy provides pick-up and drop-off for her boarding clients, which was a HUGE convenience and timesaver for us. Our dog came home happy and healthy -- we could tell he had a blast. We're going on a couple more trips this summer and we're definitely going to board our dog with Amy again! read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE Amy and Throw me a Bone! Amy has been walking Bella for a little over 8 months now, and she has been the most reliable and thoughtful dog walker/boarded we have ever had. You can tell that she genuinely loves the dogs she walks- she sends me picks of Bella on her walks- and cute notes of how there time together went, etc. She's also helped me with some of Bella's training (she is a certified trainer as well), which has been great to reinforce what we've learned with our trainer. Bottom Line- I've used a number of walkers, and I would never trust anyone with Bella that I didn't feel comfortable with- Amy puts us so at ease, I can't imagine using another service. read more

Amy is terrific--both with our dog, Eggs, and with us. Eggs is an Aussie shepherd mix who's wary of new people and hard to tire out. Amy knew right away how to use the right body language to make him feel comfortable, and she's getting him great exercise. Nearly as important, she communicates with us a lot, leaving notes every day, texting pictures and emailing with longer questions and comments. We're huge fans of people who can communicate with dogs via body language and with people via any means necessary. Amy is the rare person who does both very well! read more

I'm writing this review for my Aunt as she doesn't use online reviews but she has been so impressed by Amy and David at Throw Me A Bone she asked if I would write them a review. She visits often and every time I speak to her she gives me updates about her dog. She has been boarding her dog with Amy and David for over a year and always talks about how happy and invigorated her dog is when she goes to pick her up. She wouldn't leave her dog with just anyone but now that she found Throw Me A Bone she has no problem boarding her dog. She loves how they take the dogs for long walks on the beach and gives them a lot of attention. She very highly recommends Throw Me A Bone! read more

All the rave reviews here are 100% true. Amy is an absolute angel sent from above. She welcomed our super timid Am-Staff Mix who moved from New York to San Francisco into her pack and the positive behavioral changes we saw in her were immediate. Amy both walked and boarded our pup Diner and treated her like her own. I cannot and will not stop saying amazing things about Amy - she is truly the best of the best. read more

Amy walks our dog five days a week and we are thrilled that she does. I've seen the way she works with dogs and she shows them a lot of love as well as making sure that they listen to her. My dog is so excited to see her when she comes in the door. I'm also very appreciative of Amy's communication. She is always very responsive to any requests and is a wonderful and reliable person to work with. We plan to continue working with Amy for years to come. I recommend her highly. read more

Amy has been walking my 12-year-old lab mix for about a year, now, and has boarded her several times. Past dog walkers have had difficulty getting my dog to go with them, but not Amy. She's so gentle with Maisie, and so kind, I sorta wish I was a dog in her care. Amy doesn't complain about having to lift Maisie into the car and deal with her eccentricities. She's also a pro--no doubt about it. On time, totally reliable. I can't imagine a dog who wouldn't thrive in her care. And we know what that means for owners. read more

I have worked with Amy from the get-go. I interviewed a number of dog walkers and dog excursion leaders, but Amy stood out as gentle, fun, and knowledgeable. I got Hoopla, a mini-poodle, on a whim, and had no idea what I was doing. Amy came over for our initial consultation, and it was clear who our choice was. At Throw Me A Bone, I know Hoopla gets off-leash training, dog & human socialization, and behavior checks from a knowledgeable source. I can trust that I will have an exhausted, happier dog because of Amy. She writes notes, sends pictures, and gives me great tips on how to handle any of my puppy's pain-in-the-butt ways. I'm going out of town for a conference, and despite my roommate's ability to watch my puppy, I've chosen to board her with Amy because I know how happy my dog will be for this time. I've recommended her to all my friends. read more

We've had the good fortune of working with Amy for a year now, and we can't imagine anyone else taking care of our 2 year old French bulldog, Moose. He gets a great workout and is in the best shape of his life. He also loves staying with Amy, David and their pups when we are out of town--he comes home pooped and content. Amy is the most professional yet deeply caring person. Moose leaps into her arms when she comes to pick him up. I swear sometimes on weekends he sits by the door waiting for her. Moose had a little trouble adjusting when our new baby arrived last year, but with Amy's positive impact, he's doing great. In short, we feel really lucky we found Throw Me a Bone. It's a great feeling to know our dog is getting the best care and attention--and plenty of social time with other friendly dogs!! read more

Look no further for the best dog walking service in the city! Amy and David are awesome. I started using Throw Me a Bone four months ago and my German Shepherd mix could not be happier! She gets more socialization, exercise and attention now than she ever did with a solo walker. Amy and David are extremely reliable and communicative. They are punctual and my pup always returns clean and ready for a nap. Plus they share amazing pictures of the dogs having a ball! I highly recommend Throw Me a Bone to anyone looking for a professional, trustworthy dog walking service. read more

We were referred to Amy by a close friend and fellow Lab owner who loves their dog and wouldn't trust her with just anyone. Turns out, we'd be lost without Amy and Throw Me A Bone! We travel and needed a reliable, competent, trustworthy person who could understand, love and appreciate Lucca - a "career change" dog we adopted from Guide Dogs for the Blind. She has been wonderful. When we go on vacation, so does Lucca! He is always happy to see her and happy and calm when he comes home. We love the pictures she sends us of him playing with his pals. I wholeheartedly recommend Throw Me A Bone! read more

Amy has been a fantastic dog walker for us - we'd be lost without her. Our german shepherd mix is very skittish and tentative around new people but Amy won him over at their first meeting. Definitely highly recommended! read more

Amy is great! She's been walking our Berner for about six months now and he's super happy and tired out when he comes home. Our dog gets very excited whenever he hears Amy pull into the driveway. Amy's great at keeping us informed about how our dog is doing on his walks and, since she is also a trainer, has helped with his recall and other commands. She's also an amazing photographer and sends us pictures of our crazy pup from his adventures! read more

Amy and David are incredible! We have a french bulldog who's on the older side and they have done so much for her. They've socialized her, gotten her in better shape, given us frenchie tips, and our girl is always happy to see them! The most amazing part about Amy and David though is how they treated our girl after two major surgeries. They came to visit her while she was healing and eased her back in to walking as she was ready. They treated her like their own and we are so grateful. read more

Amy has been walking our dog Monday-Friday for about 8 months now, and we (my fiancé, dog, and I) all couldn't be happier with her great service! She's wonderful with responding to emails/texts/calls right away, and I love it when she texts me photos of my dog having a great time at the park while I'm stuck in the office. Amy also leaves us a note every day to let us know how much fun they had together. When I work from home on occasion, my dog gets so excited when Amy comes to pick her up - and it just makes me feel even more certain that our dog is in such good hands with Amy. read more
