Only lasted one session. The therapist was not the issue. She was professional, listened and communicated well but the insurance/billing process is not transparent. They recommended keeping a card on file, I was charged for services rendered before even taking part in the scheduled second session. Billing was also unable/unwilling to provide the billing/payment statement for my records--it required several callbacks to eventually receive the requested information. Thriveworks website provides only highly rated reviews, other third party sources describe experiences no higher than two stars--Be mindful. read more

As everyone else seems to be saying, TERRIBLY UNCLEAR BILLING!!! I was already displeased with this company due to the call center giving me bad information about who could give me the treatment I was looking for (went to two different people who could not help me), and then there's suddenly charges for 1. sessions I have not SCHEDULED or ATTENDED and 2. a no-show fee I was told on the phone would be waived upon rescheduling. The second thing -- whatever, I guess I was lied to. The first? I was already upset about paying $25 for five minutes of a psychiatrist saying she couldn't help me, and now $100??? Why????? I feel crazy, sorry if this is unclear but I needed treatment by a certain date, and the date has passed. I spent over a month wasting my time playing tag with this company when I could have been pursuing something of value. This company has made my life worse, significantly. Thriveworks should be ashamed at how they treat the mentally ill and humans as a whole. I had an issue with insurance and instead of choosing to contact me that there was an issue they went ahead and charged me $550 claiming patient responsibility with no contact. BUYER BEWARE!! Billing department is a complete scam. I passed my two medical insurance cards at least four times to them to include photo copies and they continued to bill my credit card. There are so many therapists and organizations who aren't focused solely on money. The basic model here oozes a financially motivated focus. I've been continuously charged for months after I specifically requested to be removed from their subscription or whatever they are calling it. Random charges were coming out of my account almost weekly. The therapists are not the greatest or even plain old good for that matter. Thrive works' model will leave you broke and depressed if you don't monitor your bank account. I saw a therapist once and paid almost $250 in "fees". It's really not worth it, there are therapists out here that really want to uphold the responsibility they have accepted as trusted psychologists and therapists in your life... this place isn't that. read more

First, I was told by my Psychiatrist that he would write and email me a Dr's note for my work in order to make some accommodations due to my PTSD and anxiety. Two days went by and I never got an email. I had to go through Thriveworks support just to get his email. After emailing him twice, he never responded. It had been over 5 days with no word. This is patient abondoment. What if I needed to contact him without response and I decided to harm myself? That would 100% fall on him. These people do not care about you and are not allowed to write any type of note/documentation for your work. In fact, that "Psychiatrist" literally said that his "manager does not want us to write Dr notes." Are you serious? You have mangers telling you what to do and what not to do? Telling you that your client is stuck and basically has to figure it out? I am so tired. I just want help. This place is terrible. Find somewhere that actually cares about you as a human. Disappointing experience at Thriveworks, JFK. I met with a therapist for an initial session, we spent the first 5-10 minutes of my intake trying to figure out why there was a portal issue and she could not see that I had consented to treatment online. The provider seemed like a competent therapist, just not the right fit for me, but it was disappointing to learn that her next evening appointment was 4 weeks out. So if I had needed more acute care (weekly or whatever) I would be SOL. I called the next day to cancel my membership ($29/month on top of my copay plus the initial $99) and get my $99 refunded (the policy is that if you are not satisfied you can get reimbursed within 7 days of the appointment). The customer service rep was not able to refund me, even after checking with his manager, and told me to dispute the charge with my bank. I stated that I would prefer not to go through that hassle and he said that was all they could do. Also, the atmosphere... the waiting room had tea, water, coffee. The furniture seemed kind of cheap and was not that comfortable. The space I met in was the opposite of therapeutic. It was evening and dark outside, the bright fluorescent overhead lights were on and the blinds were open (so if I had been crying that would be weird that people could see me). Additionally, I could hear someone talking in another office (despite white noise machines being used throughout), if it was silent I would be able to hear them easily. read more

Maybe an in-person experience is better, but my experience connecting virtually with Thriveworks was not pleasant and felt very cold and de-humanizing. This is not a review for the therapist I was assigned, who did their best to help me, nor is it for the nurse practitioner, who did their job well, but for the scheduling and support staff and the system in general. I tried to get a hold of customer service regarding a prescription I was not able to refill because of an insurance glitch, and I did not hear back after many, MANY attempts to reach them. After multiple calls and emails, I had one dose left of a psychiatric medication....not good. The fact that Thriveworks also charges a monthly fee and continued to charge it even as I was trying to reach them for this crisis is really off-putting. read more

Therapists themselves are great, at least those that I've interacted with. The customer service however is atrocious. Better be sure to reschedule within 48 hours otherwise you are absolutely out that $135 regardless if medical or family emergencies. They do not care. In addition, the reps are rude. I scheduled an appointment for counseling. The provider who came up when I searched counseling was a PMHNP and capable of prescribing meds. I figured she did psych and counseling appointments. I booked the appointment because she had great reviews and being an RN myself, I appreciate other nurses caring for me. The day of the appointment I realize it says my appt is for medication. I called to cancel and explained what happened. The rep cut me off several times, rushed through my call, and went as far as to call me neglectful for making the appointment in the first place. What poor service. Thankfully, Dana, the PMHNP I saw anyway to avoid their BS charge of $135 was understanding and said she would message them and tell them not to bill me. She apologized for their coarse and disrespectful attitude. Still blown away at how rude their customer service is, especially for a mental health service. read more

Therapy is supposed to be something that assists in helping you heal from whatever trauma or negative situation you're going through, and the companies that run these therapy groups are supposed to be groups that look out for the best of their patients. Not at Thriveworks here in Philly. They lied to me to get me in for a therapy session claiming that the therapist that they had for me specialized in the area that I was looking for. Then, when booking a follow-up appointment the therapist tells me "Oh, I understand your schedule is full with work hours, but I see that I have some time at 8 pm on ____ date and can see you then." I go, not being told or made aware that it is a different copay fee, and they lied in billing my insurance to try and get more money out of me. Their mobile app cancel the appointment malfunctioned on me and wouldn't allow me to cancel a separate appointment in time. So they charged me a $90 fee. I called 3 times to dispute that and get assistance from a manager of theirs and each time I was told that a manager would call me back in about 2-3 days it has been 2-3 weeks and no one has contacted me. And today, I see that they decided to use my credit card and bill me fees that I've been disputing. Please, if you need therapy stay away from them. DO NOT use thrive works for mental health services. Not sensitive in the slightest. My therapist had a dead in the eyes way about him. After I stopped services due to a covid lay off they continually charged me. I had told my therapist I didn't have any insurance to continue sessions and his response was, "yikes." Like wtf? And instead of checking on me to make sure I was okay they charged my card every month. I finally called and the customer service rep was unforgiving and snarky. Would NEVER recommend them to ANYONE. Non compassionate workers especially during Quarantine and Covid :/ EDIT: upon your reply I think it's funny y'all would want me to do MORE emotional labor for this service. The therapists are hit or miss. I finally found a really solid therapist and I love her which is the ONLY reason why I am staying with this incredibly inefficient and horrible provider. Their billing department does not pay attention to requests at all, they WILL overcharge you and not provide any billing statements whatsoever. I had to stop payment on cards because they were auto-charging me literally 10x the amount I should have been paying and it took months for a refund. You have to play detective and closely monitor your own accounts because they don't even bill insurance correctly. read more

Very positive, upbeat vibe here. The staff here is welcoming and warm... They aim for you to move forward and get "unstuck" from the past. I needed a more rigorous (in depth, get to the bottom of things, not just skim the surface) Tx plan; this the place for me! Also there is autonomy and independence here, and staff will guide you on your journey, not coerce you (force feed answers) beyond your healing pace. If you are looking for a Tx plan that motivates you; and Tx propels you to get better, this service has it. The area here is a calm, relaxed one. Trying to get an appointment here, unlike what is advertised, is no different than anywhere else, unless you want to pay out of pocket and not use insurance. They also charge you $99 upfront in addition to insurance, for what I do not know. They advertise no wait for appointments and hours on weekends. However, that is not for new patients. Then WHY advertise that? Established patients do not need the advertising! Very, very disappointed. read more

It's taken me many years to come to terms with the idea that perhaps I could benefit from therapy. Having an advanced degree in Psychology used to make me feel immune to the effect of therapy, after all what could a therapist tell me about myself I didn't already know? My idea of therapy?- a stuffy room, a therapist that (regardless of age or gender) wouldn't relate to me, antiquated or far-fetched theories that didn't apply to me. I was so incredibly wrong! Thriveworks is a wonderful place - bright, clean, open. As soon as you step into the Thriveworks suite you are greeted by relaxing music, a mini-fridge full of water bottles and a fully stocked Keurig station where you can make yourself a relaxing cup of coffee or tea while you wait to meet with your therapist. My counselor Pamela Schade is absolutely wonderful and therapy is the complete opposite of what I had dreaded. Pamela is warm, approachable and incredibly insightful. Her office is welcoming and full of brain teaser puzzles you can work on while you talk. Sitting across from Pamela in therapy feels like sitting across from a good friend who listens and understands but also challenges me to see the world through a different lens. Pamela also takes incredibly detailed notes, which allow her to navigate the complex twists and turns of my story with impressive ease. I am very thankful I gave Thriveworks a chance. read more

I can't say enough good things about my counselor. She is empathetic and so easy to talk to. I have had a hard time finding the right person to talk to, but she is has exceeded my expectation.
