TLDR- it's fantastic…read more This is a long review... I have been to many therapists for trauma work but no practice has helped me the way Therapy for Women has. I broke up all the reasons I think Therapy for Women is amazing below. The values: This practice is based on mutual trust. You're therapist will happily share bits of their own life experiences. This always makes me feel less alone in what I am experiencing. Additionally, the open conversations make sessions comfortable/feel less like a doctors appointment. Therapy for Women also makes a point to let you know that you can switch therapists at anytime. Besides therapy won't be effective if you aren't comfortable with who you are talking too. In the office: The atmosphere is calming and quiet. Therapists have white noise machines at their door so your conversations will never be heard by someone passing by. If you are finding it hard to share something most therapists have art supplies, cards, fidget toys or board games that you are able to play during the session. The sessions are flexible and can be tailored to what you need. This is especially great for people like me with ADHD. The online portal: This might not be something many people think is important but the online portal is so simple. The rules, expectations, and prices for the practice are shared openly once you become a client so there is transparency. If you are ever confused about something or wondering about your last bill it is easy to look up past records and chat with your therapist directly. Price: Therapy for Women does not accept insurance (this is my understanding/ I'm not sure if there are specific exceptions). Sessions are relatively expensive since insurance doesn't cover the cost. However, Jen is a therapist I could stick with for years and I feel it is completely worth the extra cost. Over all: I really think this practice is something special and I am SO happy I found it when I did.

I decided to stop therapy but realized that I needed some more. I initially was doing remote and decided to do in person instead. I thought if they had one great therapist that they might have more. I was right. My second therapist was also very effective. If it wasn't for my two therapist, I don't know how I'd be doing. Actually I do, definitely not as good. I highly recommend Thriveworks and much thanks to Anna Settle and Todd Newman. Btw, bad reviews may be based on people in distress. It's easy to say bad things, it's really hard to get to the point of saying good things.

Theu lack the training and skill it takes to assist. They provide no real help. Their providers will cancel your appointments with no notification at the last mintue. The customer service representatives are very insensitve and untrained to manage individuals seeking mental health help. They are rude and disrepectful. They are no supervisiors to talk too. They place you on hold for 20 minutes at a time and when they are on the phone there is always loud noise and people in the background. It has been immensely disappointing dealing with them and they refuse to delete my account and personal information from their system. Thriveworks is not to be trusted with handling individuals seeking help for therapy.

CASA was a fun organization to be a part of mainly due to Dr. F's enthusiasm, passion and new ideas on making students aware of substance abuse. I was a peer educator and Dr. F trained us to do workshops, intervention and reach out to students at TU on the issues of drug and alcohol use. He was one of the most accessible and easy going professors that I knew. I often found myself talking to Dr. F about things I was going through because he was so easy to talk to. Respectively, I could tell he wasn't a stranger to the crazy college lifestyle (partying, relationship woes, family struggles, work balance, etc) I was living and he never made me feel "less than" or like he didn't get it. Dr. F always just got it. I think Dr. F would be a great therapist for anyone wanting to explore the role addiction serves in his or her world. If you're ready to make a change, Dr. Frank is who I would suggest.

I am currently not seeing Elizabeth regularly as I once did and I read in a recent email from her…read morethat she is possibly stepping down from therapy and focus on being director of her practice. But before she steps down, I want to mention how great she was as my therapist. So here's my review. I initially came to Elizabeth when I had made the mistake of falling head over heels for someone who did not feel the same way. As you can imagine, that cause me a lot of heartache. She was very good in the beginning stages and guided me through this heartache. Then I was about to start a grad school program that would be a waste of time and money for me to come. (To make a long story short, I ended up being part of a class action lawsuit against PriceWaterhouse, one of the largest accounting firms, for age discrimination. PriceWaterhouse settled rather than take it to court.) The grad school program would be a major stressor for me. During that time, Elizabeth was always there for me and helped me as I was experiencing a program that should have been a help but wasn't. Eventually, the grad school program ended and the heartache was gone, but I continue to see Elizabeth because I really liked her and found her to be a great support on whatever was going in my daily life. Then, I came down with a severe case of OCD and Elizabeth honestly knew it wasn't her specialty and we would both agree I need to find an OCD expert. Her confessing it wasn't her specialty made her better in my eyes. There are therapists who think they can deal with any problem that they face. Honest therapists know they cannot handle every issue and that's what Elizabeth was. As I mentioned earlier, she is stepping down from her therapy role and is about to become director of a program, A Better Life Therapy. I am sure the people she staff will be excellent as her. But I want her to know before she goes on what a great therapist she is and the therapy universe will be missing a true angel like her.
