From the start, she made me feel comfortable, seen, and understood in a way that isn't easy to find. She has a rare ability to balance empathy with honesty, always being direct in a way that feels supportive and kind. Gail takes the time to truly get to know her patients, and it's clear how much she genuinely cares. She shares thoughtful, practical tools (books, worksheets, podcasts) that help you continue the work outside of sessions. I can't recommend Gail highly enough, especially for anyone ready to take meaningful steps toward growth and healing. Working with her has made such a difference in my life.

I've been going to see Amy Wohl for almost a year, and she's been very helpful and encouraging in…read moreour sessions. First and foremost, Amy can't "fix" you. In fact, only you can fix you. But Amy can help you see that, and she can then give you guidance and the tools to fix, adjust to or change whatever it is you're going through. Amy is honest and sometimes plainspoken, but she's also compassionate. She won't sugar coat things for you, but she won't brow beat you either. From personal experience, I know that some talk therapists can fall into the trap of saying your problems are everyone's fault but your own or that they're all completely your fault, neither of which is truly helpful. One of my favorite things about working with Amy is that she is more of a motivator or coach than anything else. She's very much aware that your physical well-being is directly connected to your mental and emotional well-being, and she's always suggesting physical things--like running, biking, swimming, or even a leisurely walk--that will ultimately help your mental and emotional state. And she's always in favor of making a solid plan. "What do you want to change? What do you want to achieve? What does that look like in your life? Then how do you get to that point?" These are some of the questions Amy will ask of you, and if you're willing to do the work, she'll help guide you through the steps necessary to answer them. Another thing I like about Amy is that she doesn't suggest prescription medication as a knee-jerk reaction for treatment. Prescription medication can be and often is a necessary aspect of therapy for many, many people, and Amy has said that herself, but she also prefers to seek out a non-prescription route for treatment first. I have and will continue to suggest to anyone looking for a good talk therapist to reach out to Amy Wohl and tell her a bit about yourself.

I would like to recommend Chana Mark as an outstanding therapist…read more I was having a terrible time and someone suggested that I see her. I never met anyone so 'in tune' with me. Despicable and predatory business practices that prey on the already vulnerable. I was desperate…read morefor help, new and naive to having independent insurance, and thought my insurance would cover most of the (as I now know) ridiculously overpriced sessions. I was charged out of pocket a "sliding scale" amount of $325 (which was still more than full price as far as any other therapist would go) promptly to my credit card after every single session, and at the same time they filed a claim with my insurance for the full price $500. This is double billing, which if not out right illegal is at best shady. When I called my insurance I was informed of not only this wrong doing, but that as standard practice, a provider, out of network or not, who files claims with an insurance is not supposed to charge anything to patient until it has been processed through insurance. Further more, I was informed per my insurance's regulation they are only allowed to charge me ~$60 a session since they filed claims and thus entered into a contract with my insurance. I have called them twice with a representative from my insurance to explain in no uncertain terms what the situation was and to give them a chance to refund me. This was met with polite stonewalling nonsense that "they were not obligated to my insurance's laws because they were out of network." When I emailed them with extensive proof of my insurance's legal policy for out-of-network providers that shows that they legally can only charge 15% more than my insurance's allowed amount, I have been met with crickets. Since they have refused to refund me, per the advice of multiple representatives, I have filed a fraud suit with my insurance. As for my experience with the actual people, I had an incredibly brief "intake interview" with the Dr. Zackson, who's primary mission seemed to be getting off the phone with me as soon as possible instead of listening to my symptoms, I was pushed to take a male therapist when I'd explicitly expressed I wanted a female one. Outside of this, all the employees I came into contact with were polite, helpful, and seemed compassionate. And though I did not want a male therapist, I found use and made progress in the therapy I received before stopping treatment. But I cannot excuse this blatant exploitation of the vulnerable and the incredible audacity to continue to spout nonsense and withhold my money (which I desperately need as a self-supporting college student) when they are being confronted with the obvious reality of their wrong doing from multiple authoritative sources. Absolutely insidious behavior for a practice that claims to be about helping people.
