My name is Sabrina D. Thrifty Rooter's technicians just left my home after unclogging a blockage that was causing my kitchen sink, dishwasher, washer machine, and laundry room sink to overflow. The technicians were personable and went out of their way to fix all the concerns I had in my home. I was very happy with their technical service. On the other hand, I had a true problem with their office staff, particularly a woman by the name of Karma I believe (ironic I know). She was rude and demining. She made sure to criticize me if I did not pick up her calls immediately and gave no indication that she appreciated my business. You are on her timetable, so you better pick up, or else. I was picking up my kids from school when I missed her call. When I called back, she and cancelled my service time and sent the technician to another home. I was upset. I had just talked to her that very morning and told her I would be home during my visit window of 2pm to 4pm. When my husband called to see what was going on, another office staff member, Kelly I believe, was very helpful, explained the situation, took notes on our availability, and apologized. AWESOME, exactly how customer service should be. Unfortunately, I did have to deal with Karma one more time which was another negative experience. Because of this one person I would NOT recommend Thrifty Rooters. Customers deserve to be treated with respect and appreciation. read more

I have been through a nightmare with their office staff and have been waiting for 2 hours for an owner to call me or at least explain to her what I am asking for. I have a gravity fed septic with a cement tank with one lid. I was calling to have it pumped and inspected for escrow. The office person insisted that the guy pumping would have to get inside the tank. I told her he better bring a two year old or a camera on a pole. Needless to say I found another company to do the job. read more

Sad to say Thrifty Rooter no longer my go to for service. The last service call was the last. The technician was unfamiliar even though I questioned the possibility of the line going the wrong way after about 25 feet or so and he said "Oh no it is going proper direction" after a few minutes he asked if I could go inside just to make sure. The toilet was shattered. Not only that the turbulence hit my sink cabinet to which knocked my blow dryer to hit the hot water sink handle which turned water on and the bathroom was flooded. So the tech went to their shop retrieved a toilet in the box unsealed that was obviously was a previous customer reject and it was installed. Upon installation of this toilet it was VERY obvious that this toilet DID NOT have the pressure the previous toilet had. I expressed to the tech this toilet was NO WAY GOING TO WORK considering the 100 foot of line it had to travel. Made no difference 3 weeks later I had back up. I of course did not call Thrifty Rooter and shall never again. Im sure means nothing to you, but word of mouth does. Have a Grand Day. read more

Thrifty rooter called and Came out same day and fixed the clogged. Which was $600 cheaper than Dr plumber ,who stated needed a hydro jetting truck to come out. (Which was not necessary). Thrifty rooter snaked the pipe and cleared the line and fixed the problem for less than $100. Thank Robert and Marco for your help. read more

They were very nice and very helpful with removing a clog from our toilet drains. That being said they used a shop vac to clean out the nasty water from our toilet and proceeded to dump it into our bathtub without having me take my children's toys out and completely soaked their toys and a toothbrush in disgusting toilet water. It also clogged my bathtub drain. Probably something they should consider not doing in the future. read more

Had a clog in my main line and I called them up, within 10-15 minutes had a person at my door. Gentleman was very helpful and quick with his work. Very friendly. Both times the plumbers were fantastic: professional and did a great job of cleaning up afte themselves. Just ignore the one rude receptionist. I give zero stars for Thrifty Rooter. I have called them out for sewer problems 3 times in less than a year. I called them back today because the sewer backed up again. I told them I already paid them three times this year for service and the problem still continues. We were a week over the 30 day warranty so the Manager "Karen" said we have to pay for a whole new job order. I was in disbelief, I told her why am I paying for a job that should have been taken care of the first time they came out. Her response, well you can call someone else if your not happy with our service. This is coming from the Manager of this company mind you I told her your right I'll take my business to someone who takes care of their customers properly. Long story short, Thrifty Rooter does not guarantee their work nor do they care that the paper work is falsified. My paper work did not match the reports they have on file. Bad business! read more

If I could give them a negative score I would! My grandma paid over $850 for them to come out to dig up her septic tank and put it back under ground. Well they dug it up and emptied as slow as they could... (4 hours) but refused to put it back under unless she paid them $100 an hour. First of all my grandma lives alone and for them to not be honest upfront is beyond not ok. They were trying to take advantage of a helpless senior citizen. Do not use them!!!! read more

Over the years we've called them for various issues including the toilet backing up into the shower and the kitchen sink not draining. The techs are always on time, polite, and explain everything. I love these guys. The drain cleaners are kind and work hard. They get paid a percentage of what the hourly rate is. If they cant clear the drain, or if they have to have someone else clear the drain. They dont get paid. Twice now Ive had them come out to clear the main line. Twice now Ive had two different young plumbers come by to clear it. BOTH, were very nice, and ready and willing to work hard to clear the line. This time " Will" came out and was here on time. He went right to work.WE talked as he tried to clear the line. I told him he would probably need a bladder bag. Thats what cleared the line before. He was not authorized to use on. So he called his supervisor. His Supervisor came out and also tried to clear the line. I again mentioned the bladder bag. After about an hour, the supervisor gave in and sent Will on a journey to get a bladder bag. Another 45 minutes later, Will.showed up with the bag. The supervisor ran the line again. WHALAH!!. The line cleared. I WAS execting a huge bill. NOT.!!. I was only chargec for an hours work. NIce. Being on a tight budget and not expecting a blockage in my line. I thought they were more than fair. Terrible, terrible, terrible customer service. I have never had customer service be so rude and defensive. Called to ask if they map out septic leech lines. Instead, they sent someone to the county to get the septic tank map and charged me $125. Didn't even put flags in the ground to tell me where they were at. I will never use Thrifty Rooter again and would never recommend them. Wish the customer service lady wasn't rude and would have been reasonable. If someone does use them, make sure you ask what they are going to charge because obviously the customer service is going to tell you. read more

This is the worst service I have ever had. Their worker Brandon showed up at my house with a trainee and would not listen to one word I said. My toilet has been leaking slowly since the last time they were here 2 months ago. I asked him to check the wax seal. He would not listen, proceeded to tell me I needed to just "Let him do his job". When did customer service mean not listening to the customer at all? They left a dirty mess in my bathroom, apparently cleaning up after themselves isn't part of their job. The frosting on the cake was the names he called me under his breath on the way out. Stay away from this business. We've used Thrifty Rooter twice now, both times we worked with Zac who was great. Super friendly and knowledgeable. He recommended a camera if the same issue occurred again.. it did. So we called on a Saturday when it happened to schedule for ASAP- they said the next morning-Sunday between 830-9am. It was Sunday morning about 9:45am and still no visit or call, so we called them- they said they don't do camera services over the weekend (why schedule us then? Why not call us so were not waiting around) so they scheduled for this morning (Monday) same time 830-9am... about 9:15am we get a call saying we need to find someone else to do it cause they no longer do camera services. They haven't for awhile as their camera is broken.. why give us the run around if that's the case? No one seems to be on the same page. read more

So I called thrifty rooter to unclog my main sewer line. There was standing water in the shower and the toilet was clogged. The tech came out and ran his snake threw the clean, then proceeded to run it into the neighbors septic tank. He said there was no issue with my main line and that the problem must be between the toilet and the main. But for that he would need a second tech and the toilet must be pulled. I told him then to hold off on additional work, as I wanted to replace the toilet anyway. No charge at that time, as he didn't really do anything for me, but hey the neighbors were ok. So I pull my own toilet, buy a replacement and call them back. This time, as expected I get 2 techs, as they were going to charge me as if they had to pull the toilet anyway, and they would not budge on the issue, ok fine just clean it out I said. So the tech ran his snake, while the 2nd one watched. He went 5 feet in and then pronounced the line clear, without having removed any obstruction. He then proceeds to charge me the full 2 man rate, and even documents on the invoice STOPPAGE UNKNOWN. 3 days later my toilet again becomes slow to drain. It remains this way for 2 full weeks, when now it has completely backed up and is now plugged. AGAIN. After calling the office to see about them checking their work, the woman running their office says they only came out once, not twice as they did in fact do. Then I asked her pointedly are you telling me, you won't stand by your work, she slammed down the phone and hung up on me. This is by far, the least competent and most unprofessional behavior I have seen of ANY company, ever! read more

We experienced 2 showers that would not drain and worried about the cost and getting a knowledgeable representative to fix our drains. I called Thrifty Rooter in Yuba City. They sent Dom to our home, who was great in customer service skills and patience. I don't throw the word "great around with ease", it takes a lot for me. He was thorough!! Dom explained what he needed to do, and how he was going to get our shower drains working. The price was very reasonable. He never gave up until everything was working and we were so appreciative. I live in Arbuckle and it is hard to get people to come here. They gave me their hourly rate on the phone, no call-out fee that other people wanted to charge and even gave me a 10% senior discount. They will get good referrals from me! read more

We called Carriers and got a recording, only open Mon thru Fri., we called Haynes, they do not pump septics on weekends, we called Vic in Gridley, who has pumped our septic for years, he didn't want to come on a weekend either. We called Thrifty, and they are on their way out. Thank you Thrifty Rooter. The cost is going to be a little higher, but that's to be expected when you find someone to come out on a weekend. read more

Thrifty Rooter has been coming out to our house for 6 years. We have issues with tree roots clogging our toilet up. BTW we rent, and if it was up to me the tree would be gone. They're fast, funny, polite, always going the extra mile to make sure they've done their job right. One guy a few years back even came out on his day off to fix a broken pipe that burst in our garage. Every 2-4 months they come out snake the pipe on the roof, pull the toilet up to get the roots out, unclog the sink, and tub. Ed, Jack, Jerry, Mark, and AZ, all are great to get the job done. We've had emergencies late at night and a few early mornings. Instead of getting an answering machine, and leaving a messages. We spoke to someone right away, and within in a few mins they had someone here to fix our problem. Everyone that we've spoken to at the call center are nice and friendly. If the plumber is running late, we get a call explaining what's going on, and how long it'll be. I like the fact, we get those calls instead of waiting around for hours not knowing what's going on, and when they might show up. Mark even fixed my gate that had a lose screw, so my pup wouldn't get out. read more

This has to be the worst company in all of Yuba/Sutter . First we have them come out for a clogged line the tech proceeds to break the line into the septic tank and send he "found" it like that yet no one has ever dug in that location so he snakes the line pulls out a few baby wipes and calls it good. So his solution to the broken pipe was just back fill the hole and call it good. Yep days later plumbing backs up again so I and a plumber buddy dig up the location we're the tech had snaked from only to find out about the broken pipe not being repaired and now we've go rocks and mud in the line. Placed a call to thrifty rooter only to have them say well we'll fix it when it's not so wet ????!! Are you kidding me ?! So In the mean time bathrooms can be used because raw sewage will fill up hole where the broken pipe is. 5 days go by and no one has shown up so we decide to fix it. We decide that the septic should get pumped so we dig up the solid side coffin lid. We call thrifty to come pump the tank and we just figure they'd dig up the liquid side lid to pump both tanks.... NOPE ... the worker advises my mother that they do not dig which was never told to us or else we would of dug up the other lid. The worker only pumped out half of the solid side and called it a day and they the place a mess. Then he marks on the paperwork he inspected everything from the inlet tee to other things that he couldn't of inspected because he never pumped the liquid side. My plumber buddy and I show up that night and prop open the tank lid and notice it's still half full of solids which he told my mother that everything was good to go. We also notice there's no inlet tee which he checked off as being there and cleaned out ...so first blatant lie so then he checks off baffle is good in good shape but no way for him to see because he only opened lid enough to put suction hose in and the liquid side tank was never pumped... 2nd lie.... then he checks off septic system has a filtered outlet which is impossible for him to see because once again liquid side tank wasn't exposed or pumped. We then call the office and spoke to operator who assured us that they would be out next day to finish job and clean up rags from septic tank that he threw all over the place and since they don't dig if we dig up liquid side tank they'd pump that too and do proper inspections that weren't completed the first time only pencil whipped on paper work. So we did up the lid like we were asked to do . Then the tech who did the pumping called and my plumber buddy spoke to him to find out WTF the guy just starts lying through his teeth saying he did inspect the tee but when he was told there is no tee he starts making up excuses ... first excuse was that rags must of knocked the tee off ... ummmm ok then he said well you really don't need a tee then my buddy decides to educate him on the importance of the tee so the tech in turn decides to change the subject then my plumber buddy asks how did he inspect the outlet filter if he never pumped the liquid side tank he says an I quote " well I just marked it just in case you were selling the house to help you out" are you kidding me... he said he would be coming back out to clean up and would pump liquid side and that we need to dig 4 inches past the lid to give him room to move the lid so we did. We get everything ready for the tech to come back and finish the job. Then my mother who's house it is gets a call saying they will not be coming out because there were old rags( baby wipes) in tank and they didn't want to eat the costs of another pumping... my mouth hit the ground when I heard this... they charge my mom full a full pump and only do half ... lie on the paperwork about work that wasn't perform then leave rages from the sewage tank thrown all over the work site. I will be going to the better business bureau and also look into other options to make sure others do not get this type of service it's almost criminal. read more

I had an amazing experience with Thrifty Rooter! They tried to squeeze me in because I called late in the day, but told me it would be close because they had so many jobs to do. When they couldn't make it that day, they called and asked me if it would be ok to come first thing in the morning. It was a very respectful thing to do. I think if I had said no, they would've probably found a way to come that night. But I said it was ok. So they called first thing the next morning, to see if it was a good time, and I was grateful for this because I was packing for a trip and getting ready to run some errands. The reminder was very helpful. Caleb showed up within 10 min of the call and was very friendly, professional, and great at his job. He was nice to my dogs who kept bugging him, and I was shocked at how quickly he was finished and my sink was unclogged. They advertise regular business hours are 8 am - 7 pm & 24 hour emergency services. This was Wednesday afternoon & nobody is available until Friday. I offered to pay an emergency fee since I have 2 bathtubs with standing water & cant flush toilets. When I pointed out their hours they advertise the lady answering was rude telling me I already told you nobody can be out until Friday. read more
