First of all, I have been using Thrifty in the United States for years and never had a problem with the bills. The price charged is the same as the price shown on line when I make the reservation. With Thrifty at Luis Munoz Marin Airport in Puerto Rico it was totally different. I reserved a car and the price shown on line was $405.73, but I was charged $480.00. If you rent a car with Thrifty at Luis Munoz Marin Airport be aware that there are hidden charges that you don't see on line. Here are the hidden charges: TAX 1 (10.5%), TAX 2 (1.00%), ADD CUST FACILITY ($0.35 per day), CUST FACILITY ($1.70 per day). This is the last time I will ever use Thrifty when I go to San Juan, Puerto Rico. In addition, I am a member of the BLUE CHIP PROGRAM, but I had to go through the whole process of answering questions, etc. Also, they don't have a BLUE CHIP line. In the United States, the only thing I have to do is sign the papers that they have ready for me, take the car and go. Here, as I mentioned before, the clerk acted like I hadn't made any reservation as well as like I was not a BLUE CHIP member. Also, it took way too long at the counter. When I asked him why they didn't have everything ready like in the United States, he said that they are not connected to the US. When you return the car at the Airport, they don't give you the final bill. The employee just asks you for the papers, fills out a new little form and tells you "have a nice trip". I was extremely disappointed. I had to look at my credit card account to see the final charge. In addition, they tell you to pay the toll road fee because all toll roads have the automatic system, and it is not true. Also, I always reserve an intermediate car and get a better car in the US. They gave me just a Kia. Again, this is the last time I will use Thrifty in Puerto Rico. It was a total disappointment. read more
