I just started a business and I'm unfortunately not very happy with what I was told. I needed a lens hood for how I want to shoot, but was refused 3 times. I was told buy filters, my schooling taught me otherwise. They were a little rude and quite arrogant. Hopefully they get their act together and I don't have to go to Calgary for equipment anymore. I'm unsure of the professional education level of the employees, and it makes me uncomfortable to buy equipment or get advice from people who are self taught and are giving advice based around personal bias.

The date that they were in town worked, liked their work, they were approachable at first. A day later they wanted to meet at almost midnight my time and when I said that wasn't going to work because I had to get up in the morning. They said fine maybe Friday at 1pm. I said i would check my work schedule and they said that was fine. The next morning, i got a series of snarky text messages including one saying they reserve the right to refuse a shoot. So I had been set on them but they were so moody, i figured that I better keep my options open. So i contacted some other photographers where I out lined the pictures I was looking for. So i forwarded the email so that we were all on the same page about what I was looking for. They sent me a long email ending with but if you like our work, we would be happy to do the shoot that day just get back to us Tuesday about times you would like to meet. So I wrote the date they were available and committed to $400 in renovations to the room I wanted to use, bought new curtains that let the light in, white bedding and and accent chair because they don't have a studio here. Tuesday I messaged them with all the times we could meet and even traded one of my shifts to accommodate Friday at 1pm which they had originally quoted. Half way through the day, I get a text message saying they didn't think it would work out because of something I'd said in the email (which was totally misinterpreted) but they didn't take the time to clarify, just made a knee jerk decision based on something that wasn't even relevant to them. So now I'm out $1000 and they cancelled because of a misunderstanding in their reading comprehension. From were I'm standing they look like to use-to-be good photographers that don't want to work or take their clients needs into consideration and pick apart every communication so that things don't work out instead of working with their client. They are so whimsical that they promote themselves, make a verbal agreement and then take the choice away from the client without meeting them. If clients are desperate enough for a photographer that puts their clients needs second and cancel without warning leaving you stuck with a bill for venu, then you should pick these two. They were…read morevery professional and took the time to bring us to lots of "off the beaten path" areas around both islands -- Vancouver and Tahiti. The processing time was speedy and they even unexpectedly gave us a hard covered photo book. Their wonderful photos they took reside all around our house till this day - excellent quality. They worked within our budget and very reasonable. We we'll definitely use their services again in the future.

That's your advertisement right there, 11 out of 10 product, people, and service. Designing the ring was a ton of fun, make sure that you're not in a rush. My wife works in healthcare so the owner had some recommendations that really made the ring come together and not interfere with her work. Little modifications so gloves don't tear when you put them on, making sure her hair never gets caught on the ring, little things like that. Every time I came to the store front I was met with smiles, you can really tell all the employees love their jobs and want nothing but the best for their customers. At the first design meeting I was up front about my budget, and the owner was very respectful and diligent when designing the ring around my budget. It was never brought up a second time. This made the process very enjoyable and stress free as I new exactly how much everything was going to cost. The owner went out of her way to order custom cut diamonds from New York that where so beautiful she bought them knowing that type of diamond doesn't come around very often. After the fact I can come into the store front when ever is most convenient for me and they will clean my wife's ring and give it a quick once over, if there is anything less than perfect they take care of it right away! If you want to spend your hard earned money on a local, multi generational family business, that provides the highest standard of service, provides the highest standard of product, who genuinely takes care of their customers, then Tomkins is a no brainer. It was easy to navigate and gave me all of the information I needed to see if they could help me. I dropped by and found a nice, well designed store. The two gentlemen working greeted me immediately (sorry, I didn't get their names). In under 5 minutes, they had replaced my battery and informed me what I needed to do to condition the new battery. They were very friendly and knowledgeable. The whole experience was very impressive. Apple would have charged $79, plus shipping and other fees. Plus, they would have taken my phone for who knows how long. iDeal iRepair charged $50 for the part and service. I absolutely recommend this store. Thanks for the great service!
