After a few weeks of traveling out to Lodi, to see this bridge felt so good. It was my signal to know I was almost home. I also used to travel through Rio Vista years ago when I dated a cowboy from Dixon. (Geez! I sound like Bonnie Rait all of the sudden!) I like this bridge because it has that old time feel to it. Especially since the surroundings are like going back in time as well. I was fortunate enough to travel over it the other night while the sun was setting. A clear blue sky behind me with an orange and lemonade sun before me going behind the distant hills of the East Bay. This may be a draw bridge but Ive never been around to see it be drawn. It must be one because there is a little house for the bridge guy to be in. I've always wondered what it would be like to be one of those bridge watcher guys. The next time you are ever wondering the country side like me, don't forget to take a good gander of this bridge. Its pretty nice.

Stop here on RED!

This bridge to our family is known as 'The Dinosaur Bridge'. Ya know when you cross the middle section and (the part that opens up for the boats to pass under) it makes your tires go vvvvvrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrooooommmmmmm, well thats why we call it Dinosaur bridge, the kids love the loud sound the tires make going across the grating and the kids always put their hands in the air for some reason! I've been crossing this bridge my whole life, glad to see it when headed home or even when leaving for a day trip. Blink and you'll miss it though, its a small 2 lane 100ft (or so) bridge.

Strong structure and it always looks clean and taken care of. Smooth cruise across twice a day in this beautiful scenery.

For such a small bridge it sure does seem to need a LOT of work. Road closures or delays are common with this bridge.

Rio Vista City Hall - Boat launch

Rio Vista City Hall

"Pretty Tree, Pretty Monument, Pretty Utility Payment Drop off box"…read more Calling City Hall a historical landmark might be a wee bit of an exaggeration. If there is a lot of history around this building, it escapes me. City Hall is a moderately-sized, old rectangular building. The day that I visited, it was locked, but I watched people drop off their utility payments in a box on the front door. That was perhaps not the highlight of my day. At this location, there are cool, relaxing views. After you finish watching people drop off their utility payments, you can read the whale monument, or have a seat and watch the fisherman. This is also a pleasant place to go for a stroll along the water. At City Hall itself, you can check it out in about 2 minutes. There are dilapidated bathrooms around the left side near the back. You can also watch dogs jump into the water near the boat launching ramp. I only saw dogs jumping into the water. I did not see any utility customers jumping into the water after dropping off their payment-- but if they jumped really fast, I might have missed them. Pleasant area for a quick visit, but don't expect a diamond attraction here.

The views were beautiful, and everything felt well-paced from start to finish. The whole experience lasted about 2.5 hours and included 7 zip lines, which was such a fun adventure. The location can be a bit tricky to find, so I'd recommend giving yourself extra time and arriving at least 30 minutes before your scheduled tour, as they suggest.
