We arrived 30 minutes early for our reservation, and were lucky to be able to get seats at the bar,…read morewhere we were happy to stay so we could eat early. Cork is a place you DEFINITELY need reservations for dinner - it's very busy, and popular restaurants like Orso do fill up very quickly. It was bustling even at 6:30PM, and was great to see a busy and thriving restaurant. The food and service was phenomenal, so good that we chose to dine at their sister restaurants across the rest of our visit to Cork. Highly recommended.

Walking into Orso, we were greated by our wonderful server Gabriella. She has a most friendly and…read moreinviting smile and she was very helpful. Though she was literally the only server for the entire restaurant this evening, she never made us feel rushed and was always patient with every group that came. This is a relatively small space with only about 6 tables inside. There was a large group sitting outside, they probably put together 2 or 3 tables. It's a relaxed place with some beautifully framed artwork on the wall. The menu provides a wonderful selection of Middle Eastern food. We didn't choose any drinks other than the water that was offered. My wife and I shared the Grilled Halloumi salad to start. The salad was delicious and the halloumi was superb. For the entree we both chose the fish of the day, a grilled sea bream with some sort of slaw. The fish was fantastic, prepared perfectly. It had wonderful flavors in addition to the excellent taste and texture of the fish. We ordered a side of sweet pea hummus with pita, which was absolutely delicious. We succumbed to ordering dessert because they too sounded so good. What made them totally special was that birth the Pear Tartin and Mahalabia were flavorful, not too sweet, and we didn't feel stuffed after enjoying them to complete our meal. The fresh mint tea that accompanied dessert was delicious.

It's a surprise every time! Is it chicken? Is it beef? Who knows! It's marinated in our secret…read moreblend of confusion and regret. Soggy Salad: A delightful mix of wilted lettuce and questionable dressings served on a plate that's seen better days. Extra crunch from the occasional bug, for free! Overcooked Pasta al Dente: We believe in cooking pasta until it's just shy of a rubber tire. Topped with a sauce that's been sitting too long in the back of the fridge, it's a real treat for the adventurous eater! Dessert of the Day: Today's special is a slice of cake that has more frosting than cake--perfect for those who like to eat pure sugar and regret. Drinks: Our drink menu features a selection of sodas that are flat and warm, alongside our house blend of coffee, which is brewed from beans that have seen better days (and probably traveled through time). Cleanliness: You'll love our "rustic" vibe, which includes sticky tables, menus that have seen better days, and a floor that's a mystery of its own. We believe in a "natural" environment, which is why we let the crumbs and spills mingle freely! Closing Thoughts: At The Greasy Spoon, we pride ourselves on our ability to lower your expectations and still somehow manage to exceed them--in the wrong way, of course. Come for the food, stay for the unforgettable experience... if you dare!

Healthy organic vegetarian/vegan food in Cork Hidden gem!…read more Food **** Absolutely delicious. We got the special which was a Malaysian vegetable curry with spicy apple chutney. We also ordered the Nut loaf which was an absolute must - one of the best dishes we've had in a while - comes with roasted potatoes and roasted root vegetables. SO GOOD! Atmosphere **** Very cute restaurant located on the second floor of a health food store but has an upscale feel. Parking can be tricky but we got a spot on the street near the restaurant and then you can purchase a parking pass for 2 euro at the food shop on the first floor. Service **** Great service and relaxed. Also bathrooms available. Price $$ Dishes were around 15 euro each.

I couldn't help but to notice the portion differences for the sides. Ours was much less..but anyways, I loved the burger. The coolest thing about veggie burgers is that it is always different. No veggie burger will ever taste the same unless it's not homemade. The choice of toppings and bun was grand too. It seemed like a multi-grain bun. The patty was so rich in flavor. I was not impressed with the Shepherd's pie. It was just a mush of grains. I was expecting something similar to a veggie pot pie. It was good but it was a dish I usually make at home minus the top. The sides were quite natural - quick toss to cook them with minimal seasoning. If you are feeling healthy and not up for extreme flavor, this is a safe choice. Portions are filling and staff are friendly. The restrooms are located upstairs.
