Tired of the gym? I sure am.....I was on my way to Traverso's and I saw the sign that read Three Dog Yoga? I decided to walk in and get some information. This place is relatively new to the shopping center. I purchased a seven week pass to try the three different yoga classes. Power, Flow and Renew. The experience was amazing, the instructor Anna G is very uplifting and really a great instructor. I have been hooked ever since. At first I was thinking how hard can yoga really be? VERY HARD there are some amazing positions to practice. After class I always walkout with a clear mind, relaxed and completely rejuvenated. If you have never tried yoga and are interested I would highly recommend Three Dog Yoga everyone there is friendly and very humble.... namaste. read more

When I moved to Santa Rosa from San Francisco almost 7 years ago, one of the hardest things I had to do was say goodbye to my yoga classes at the gorgeous International Orange Spa on Fillmore and Yoga Tree in the Mission. I spent a long time trying to find a studio in Sonoma County that even came close to the vinyasa practice I was accustomed to, in the CLEAN and hemp sandal hippie free environment that I desired. In 2010, serendipity struck and a trip to Traverso's brought proverbial rain to what had been my yoga Serengeti. I have been a devotee (more recently since I have more time and have made the commitment) ever since. Have I mentioned that this place is clean? Some may underestimate how important it is, but seriously, when you do yoga long enough, you come across places that take the use of a mop and swiffer for granted! I never cringe with fear when I put my mat on the floor because it is ALWAYS hair and sweat free. Classes start on time and are filled with regular yogis, so a word to the wise, if you want a decent spot in a location you desire, show up at least 15 minutes yearly. Anna and the gang are awesome. Not only is this real work physically, but with Anna's leadership, the practice is thoroughly meditative and she somehow knows when you talk you through each pose to push just a little harder and breath through the tension. She is inspiring. Not only only does my body feel great after practice, but my sometimes bad attitude after a long day of work is, shall we say, improved. The insight she provides during the practice has been worth the price of admission many times over. The location is off the beaten path and the classes are not cheap--both are serious plusses in my mind. Weeds out the unwashed masses and insures that only those serious about yoga are in attendance...yeah I said it. Trust me, you will thank your lucky stars for that! Namaste 3 Dog! read more

Thank you Three Dog Yoga! These ladies made me feel very welcome upon my first time coming for a class. It's always a bit intimidating for me to go somewhere new but I felt 100% welcomed and everyone was super nice. I definitely feel comfortable coming here now. The first class I took was the Slow Flow. It was a great way to start my Saturday. It is a very slow and easy class and is perfect for a beginner who feels a bit intimidated by Yoga. I needed something one step above so I took the Flow class last night and loved it! It was a bit challenging but I want that! Anna lead the Flow class. She is just a super sweet soul. She is funny and even remembered me from the first time I came in. It made me feel very comfortable being there. The best part was she ended with Stevie Ray Vaughn for Savasana! That was amazing! Three things I have to remember: 1. Bring a towel for my mat. I was sweatin' and had a hard time in Upward Dog with sweaty hands! I was getting kind of frustrated so lesson learned! 2. Pin my damn bangs back! 3. Take off my make-up before. read more

As a guy, some people seem surprised to hear that I do yoga. At Three Dog I found about 30% of the class is male, so it's a very inclusive bunch.. Well, I'm still new to yoga, but I'm hooked. I can't imagine a better place. From my first visit, I felt welcome to try yoga and enjoy the practice. Lucie just lights up when you tell her you're new and want to sign up! The instructors are great, guiding you through the session and at the same time leaving you feeling grounded and calm with a balance of mind and body. Try their one week pass for new clients. This is the best yoga studio I've ever been to! I drive 20 minutes out of my way four days a week to go here, when there are plenty of yoga studios near my house. I would recommend this studio to anyone--beginner or advanced yogi. They respect exactly where you are in your body and your practice. The owners are adorable and everyone who works there is wonderful & totally down to earth. The studio is always CLEAN and always smells nice (and believe me, I've smelled some funky yoga studios). They classes are the best. No weird extraneous stuff. Just great, solid yoga classes. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! read more

Unfortunately, I didn't get the chance to experience what I'm sure would have been a wonderful yoga class led by Sarah from Three Dog Yoga. My friend scheduled with Anna to have an instructor come lead a class at our rented house in Monte Rio on her wedding day. We waited until 9:10am before calling to see where the instructor was as it was scheduled for 9:00am. I called, spoke with someone at the front desk who informed me that Anna was teaching but would call me back as soon as she finished. I never received a call back so I called again and left a voicemail requesting someone to return my call. Still, no one returned my call. A few days before the scheduled class, my friend contacted the instructor and asked that she bring mats for those of us that were travelling. This seems like a pretty solid confirmation that the class is still happening. The reason I mention this is because when Three Dog Yoga responded to my friend they said that they didn't send the instructor because they were unsure if the class was still on. In their defense, we were staying in an area that didn't get much cell service if they did contact her to confirm once again. However, It is unfortunate that they chose the route to not show up and not call back instead of showing up as planned so we could have a nice relaxing morning while getting ready for the wedding. read more

Three Dog Yoga is my second home. I've never been involved with a community that satisfies my need for a strong healthy body and that also feeds my inner development. The style of yoga practiced here is Baptiste Power Vinyasa - breath based and heated. Not to the degree of Bikram, but warm enough to get a good sweat on! The instructors are unbelievable - gentle, encouraging, fun, and always reminding me to listen to my body's needs. There are two aspects to Three Dog that I haven't experienced at any other studio. One is that there are regular opportunities to participate in philanthropy (Africa Yoga Project, YWCA Women's Safe House, Redwood Empire Food Bank) where the cost of the class is donated to a non-profit. Sometimes we are challenged to attend a certain number of classes per month and to donate items to a non-profit. It's all voluntary with no pressure if you can't afford it. The other amazing aspect is Baron Baptiste's 40 Days to Personal Revolution Program. Anna leads the group through 40 days of yoga, clean eating, self inquiry, and meditation. It's a transformative experience. The program is offered a few times per year and I've really enjoyed the times I went through it. I highly recommend Three Dog Yoga to anyone interested in gaining a greater awareness of their bodies and spirits. read more

I don't yelp very often, just when I really like or really hate something. So here it is, Three Dog Yoga, something I really like!! I tried a number of the local yoga studios before my friend, one day, brought me to a power class at three dog yoga. My friend failed to mention that it was a heated class. 92 degrees! During the practice I hated it, but I felt so GREAT afterwards I went back again.. and again and again! I no longer hate it =). I continue to try other studios for diversity, but none of them compare to three dog. The staff is friendly, chatty and open. The studio itself is clean and cozy, not smelly, sterile or "gym-esque" like a number of places I've been. Even though their power classes are heated, it doesn't stink! I like the studio space itself but really, it's the teachers that keep me going back. They are all so great and different. Anna, the studio owner, is fantastic. I don't know where she gets all her sunny energy, but man, does she BRING IT every class, morning or night! She's really good at encouraging us to try new things. She talks us through the pose alignments and variations throughout the class, letting us know how to tweak it a bit for safety or to just get a deeper opening. OR just to have more fun with it!! The classes are for all levels and the teachers make everyone feel comfortable no matter what their past yoga experience is. They encourage using props if someone is injured (or not injured!) Apparently, even experienced yogis can benefit from using blocks and straps. No shame LOL. I have been to studios where we will be in, in say, half moon, and the teacher will say something along the lines of "oh look at all of you, so good now, you don't even need a block!" and there is me, using a block. Not so comfortable. None of that at three dog! =) My only warning is that once you try it, you will be hooked! read more

First time yoga-er here. Especially hot yoga but ooooooohhhhhh man what a workout. Not only was it easy to follow the instructions (easier than contorting my body lol) but everyone was so nice and knew it was my first time there. You can also rent a mat and there are cubbies for your things. The class itself was challenging but it's clear there are alternatives to the more difficult moves. I'll definitely be returning so I can get my flex on. read more

This is an awesome yoga studio with a welcoming vibe and a true sense of community. The owners, Anna and David, make everyone feel welcome and meet you wherever you are in your yoga practice. I was absolutely new to yoga and they helped me to develop a strong practice over the past year or so. I go every chance I can get for the workout and amazing clarity of mind. Anna and David have made some outstanding and absolutely inspiring contributions to our community in the short time their studio has been open. I was doing some research for hot yoga studio's in the area and three dog yoga was the best out of all of them. The power class taught by Anna was great. Very Baptiste style the class was small and intimate and hotter than what was described on the website. But very enjoyable. If I am ever in the Santa Rosa area I definitely will be coming through here again. read more

I recently started taking Yoga classes here and, though I'm still a beginner, I've had some really amazing classes. Slow Flow with Erica and Sarah have been really good and uniquely different and Flow classes with Anna and Hali have been good as well. Each class has been helpful in getting my blood to circulate better, helping me relax and making me much more limber. I've been going to three dog almost four years now. I started as a beginner and immediately enjoyed the enthusiastic and positive encouragement I received. Anna, the studio owner and head instructor, is amazing and brings a great level of attention to how she teaches everyone from beginner to advanced. The classes are heated, so bring a towel, but no so much that you are overwhelmed and feel like you are going to pass out. I have tried other studios in the area, and while they are good, none quite seem to compare to three dog. I feel much love here and am grateful to be part of the family! read more

What an excellent class to start off my morning! I went for an 8:30am power class with Anna and thoroughly enjoyed every minute. We showed up about 15 minutes early, were greeted warmly, given the overview of the studio, rental mats and towels for our first class. The rental mats were really nice mandukas which always makes the class a much better experience! After check in, Anna also taught our class in the second room which was tastefully decorated and simple. The class was a good mix of flow as well as holding poses to build heat. It was an excellent and well rounded workout with enough challenge for an advanced yogi, but definitely simple enough for a newer to intermediate yogi to keep up and build strength! We will definitely be attending classes whenever we are in Santa Rosa visiting! read more

Very disappointed with my (power) yoga experience even though the studio itself is clean and conveniently located. The instructor talked WAY TOO MUCH and offered very little instruction or correction (I have to agree with Moocher Y.) I have been practicing yoga for over 10 years and was looking for a good studio for serious yogis. Unfortunately, I feel like Three Dog is just another new age studio run by 'yogi converts' (transformed by their yoga experience and think they can teach) who love to hear themselves talk more than practice yoga. read more

Three dog yoga is a great place to explore your practice, whether you are a new or advanced yogi. The main studio is typically dimly light, quiet (unless you're taking Jam) and has no mirrors. I really appreciate the environment because it allows me to focus on my practice instead of staring at my reflection the entire time. The instructors will help correct your poses if needed so the use of mirrors to affirm you are in the right position is unnecessary. I have been to studios previously where the instructors were more focused on their own practice than the students, and I can assure you this is not that kind of place. The owner, Anna, and all the instructors for that matter, are warm, friendly, welcoming, and remember your name. read more

I went here for 5 days straight when I was in town visiting family -- got the unlimited week-long beginner's deal for something like $30. There are about 5 classes per day. Every class lasts one hour. Some are heated, some are low-heat. Everyone's really nice and seems to be knowing what they're doing. Only complaints are - 1. The studio is pretty tiny (during the Friday evening class it was so packed mats were touching). And 2. The classes could really use some variety. It seemed to be the same routine in every class. If you're deciding whether or not this place is for you, I would definitely recommend the one-week unlimited beginner's package. Try it! read more

I had rarely practiced yoga when all of my friends started talking about the new studio that was opening in Fountaingrove. I was a little nervous about starting classes since I thought that everyone would be more experienced than me and that I would be confused and lost in classes. I couldn't have been more wrong! I love this place! As a relative newcomer to the practice of yoga, I have always felt welcomed and encouraged at 3DY, and the studio is as aesthetically appealing as the instruction is exceptional. To me, Vinyasa yoga is the perfect blend of the Eastern spirit of yoga with Western sensibility, combining, as it does, intense physicality with inspiring practical spirituality, with the latter happily expressed without any discernible wooo-wooo new age banality. If you want to intensify your existing yoga practice, or want a welcoming environment to stick your toe in the water, this is the place! read more

I have gone to several drop-in classes at this studio. Anna is such a great teacher- she brings a sense of humor to class which is refreshing when you are sweating through a vinyasa. The music is always appropriate for the movements and the room is just hot enough to get deeper into some of those stretches but not like molten lava hot where you feel like you might pass out ontop of the guy in a speedo next to you (aka Bikram). read more

This is my favorite yoga studio! Every class is awesome, and I eventually got used to the heat and now love it. The instructors are great, very friendly and attentive. They have all different types of classes depending on what you are in the mood to do. The jam class is a little intense for me with the music, but I have actually come to love practicing yoga with music now, at home. They used to have a 'Deep' class that I really liked, but I also like the Flow class for a good workout, and Renew is more relaxing. They really cater to all levels! I don't go there as often as I would like, but I do practice at home as well. read more
