Millie's is one of those restaurants that has something for everyone, and will appease everyone,…read morebut to be honest, I forgot what we ordered and ate as soon as we left. I had to look at my photos in order to remember our meal. That's not to say it was bad. Not at all! Just that the only thing I remember is that the prices are slightly higher than I think they should be. (Although, that seems to be the case at every restaurant on Mackinac Island. They have you trapped, and they know it.) We started with the smoked whitefish dip, which is a popular thing in this part of Michigan. It came piping hot with melted cheese on it, and served with crispy pita chips and crostini. I'm glad I tried it! I love me a good meatloaf sandwich, so when I saw meatloaf sliders in the menu, I had to get them. These sliders are made with pretzel buns, which are not my favorite because I feel like they're never soft enough. A nice white bun would have been so much better. I got a side Caesar salad, and it was fine. We also ordered a chicken tenders basket, the Low Carb Platter (just a cheeseburger without a bun and a side of cottage cheese), and a kids' cheeseburger. They do have a kids menu here -- just ask. Millie's gets very busy! We had to wait almost 30 minutes for a table. But it's centrally located in the middle of downtown Mackinac, so I wouldn't expect anything less.

We checked out Millie's on Main for lunch at the recommendation of a staff member (and year-round…read moreresident) at Hotel Iroquois. A great spot, located right where visitors board for the public carriage tours! We stopped in around 12pm and by the time we left, every table was filled. Our party enjoyed a beautiful kale salmon salad, delicious and slightly spicy whitefish tacos with mango salsa, and a pasty with coleslaw and gravy. If I were to go there again, I would definitely get the pasty, hands down.

When you walk in, you head straight to the counter where there's a large menu board to order from. My wife ordered a slice of cheese pizza and a salad, and I ordered the jerk chicken pizza. It took a little while for the food to come out, but that's to be expected when it's made fresh sono complaints there. A woman called our number, I let her know it was ours, and not long after, our food was brought to the table. The pizza looked and smelled wonderful. The only downside was that it wasn't cut very well, I had to use the edge of the pizza spatula to make better slices, which was a little annoying. But the flavor made up for it. The jerk chicken pizza was very flavorful, and since I got the thin crust, it didn't leave me feeling overly stuffed. Timing was everything, we beat the rush. By the time we were leaving, nearly every table was taken and a line had formed at the counter. The decor was simple and nothing flashy, but it didn't take away from the experience. Overall, glad we stopped in when we did.

I like the theme and vibe of the place - the play on bikes and name of the restaurant is perfect. Decor is bike themed but not overly done. Rustic and laid back. Our waitress was excellent - very friendly and attentive. All staff were wearing masks. Good drink menu in addition to food. A lot of small plate options but the portion sizes of the small plates could feed at least 2-4 people. I went with sweet potato fries and steak tender bites - delicious! The dipping sauces for the fries had three different options - sweet/savory, loved trying each one. The sweet potato fries were not mushy and had a good crunch. The steak was cooked to perfection - I asked for medium and I got medium! Everyone seemed happy with their food. Restrooms were downstairs. Nice dining option in the city - only con there was no outdoor seating. Picking up on social media - looks like this place used to be Huron St. Pub & Grill not sure if it was a re-branding or new owners. Either way, I hope Broken Spoke is here to stay on the island!

The tomato basil soup was too salty and we couldn't finish it, the fish tacos were a little fishy, but the Po' Boy was still really good.

For some reason the staff taking the order took forever with each of the customers. She seemed friendly but not very efficient. She wasn't taking into account the customers waiting to place their orders. When finally placing our order, we asked if they could substitute the lemon Zest in the 2 pizzas we ordered (mushroom and Greek) with truffle honey and she proceeded to charge us $5 for a drizzle of this honey on each of our pizzas so a total of $10 for 2 pizzas for honey! And when we got our order for the Caesar salad it was a prepackaged small bowl with a side of packaged croutons and packet of dressing for $12! The orders when we finally got it were missing the ricotta on the mushroom pizza and missing the dressing for the Caesar. Fortunately for this place, the pizzas were actually tasty especially with the truffle honey drizzle. It was the only thing that elevated this restaurant and this rating.

The chicken tenders come with a creamy mustard sauce (also beige) that is delicious all by itself. The chicken fried chicken is also great, and comes with a bacon-corn gravy smothered on top. The chicken fried chicken is served with mashed potatoes and green beans. It's a comforting dish. They have a small kids menu at Mary's: a cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, grilled cheese and mac & cheese. All of the kids entrees come with fries, except the mac & cheese. One of my children ordered the kids' mac & cheese, and I'm happy to say that the mac & cheese is house-made, and not Kraft mac & cheese. I like when a restaurant makes an effort to make their own mac & cheese for kids! The location is great -- right on the beach, with patio seating. We visited during the fall, on a chilly day, so we sat inside, but we still had a nice view of the beach. After we ate, we were steps away from the sand. The server was really nice and took our order but we didn't see her again until later when we were done with the food. No checking in so we weren't able to ask for things like extra sauce or another set of silverware. In terms of food everything was a little off. The mushroom pizza was too lemon forward. Maybe they should use truffle oil instead of lemon. The Nashville chicken sandwich was dry and ended up being tough/overly fried. For the entrees we had to pay $5 to add fries to our sandwiches, which I think becomes overpriced for what you get. The truffle fries didn't really have any truffle flavor. The only saving grace was the grilled cheese sandwich with caramelized onions. Overall, the "bistro" didn't really live up to the name. Felt more like a dark bar with a country theme and a nice view of the waters.

We didn't have reservations, so picked up a buzzer from the hostess and joined the crowd waiting in the gift shop or lounging around at the entrance. Our wait was about a half hour, and we were seated in a rear dining room that should receive a Gold Medal for Eclectic Design. Our table was covered in laminated Detroit Tiger baseball cards, and the walls were plastered with beer company paraphernalia and Detroit sports memorabilia. Our server Aimy brought our meal -a Cheeseburger Platter ($11.99), and for me a cup of Clam Chowder ($4.49) and Shrimp Steamers ($14.99). My meal was excellent, the chowder was served piping hot and was loaded with chopped clams and potatoes. And man, oh man, were the shrimps great. They were a half pound served shell-on "Caribbean style" with lemon and cocktail sauce. Yes, they were messy to eat but were so worth the mess. Aimy helped me out with a few wet naps.
