It's basically the Platonic form of a gym. Yeah, you've got some cardio equipment, but it's basically a weight room that has free weights and machines for any exercise you could want. On the wall there's a chalk board with the male and female one-rep max records for bench-press, squats, and deadlifts. Guy who works there is friendly and helpful as well. Best of all is that if you're not a member, a day pass is only two dollars--and that includes sales tax. I am seriously excited about going back to the San Marcos Athletic Club day after tomorrow for Leg Day.

The trainers were fine & I even enjoyed them, but the contracts for the training are misleading & it took me longer than I like to admit to realize they were sucking so much money out of my account & then mentioning that I had so many classes to attend. In some areas of the contract, it lists an overall cost & that you will pay in 12 installments (so it seemed clear), but in another area in finer print it mentions biweekly withdrawals...which led what I thought would be $130 training cost per month to increase to $390 some months. This was not inclusive of the additional monthly fee of $40 I was charged. When I wanted to cancel, they said I had to wait 30 days which will charge my card another $260 & rack up another 16 classes that I have to use up in 90 days (or I will lose what I paid for). Clearly, I didn't need to buy more classes since I had purchased so many unwittingly. So, now I just feel icky supporting a place with such a deceptive & dishonest system. The sad thing is that I would have stayed here indefinitely if I felt they were decent in their business practices. But, now I'll have to go to another gym.

When you quit they charge your card when tell them your quitting and then with draw another 30 days payment , now i kjeep getting sales texts to come back. Thank God there is a real gym down the road for Real working out people , not just kids checking out dating partners . Maybe the facility is fine, but treating a tour like a full signup and snapping photos before someone agrees is a huge privacy red flag. I don't want my personal data being sold or ending up on some spam list just because I was curious about a gym. Management should stop scaring people off with unnecessary data collection.

I was at home recovering for a week, trying to make it back work wise for the second week and finally in the 3rd week I started to think about mundane things such as my gym membership. I called up management and asked for a credit for the previous month, to put a freeze on my membership moving forward until i could recover and was told they were looking into it. I received a voicemail letting me know that the month that I was initially injured was impossible to credit, and that the charge for the next month, due in 3 days was "too late to stop or credit". I called today to discuss and had the General Manager Andy Alvarez tell me that he would have his supervisor call me back. I asked for his supervisor's name and was told his first name only initially as when I asked Andy for his name, then finally and reluctantly was told Joe Henderson. I explained that I would likely be cancelling my membership after over 4 years and was told that was fine. No care at all for my experience, my injury nor my 4 year membership. I am genuinely surprised and did not expect for this situation to end up with my cancelling my membership, but I can't in good faith give my money to someone that treats their customers with such blatant lack of care. Besides the gym being extremely limited on many basic machines and other equipment, it is also run by people that will hesitate to give you their full name during a complaint by a customer. That is ridiculous and unacceptable in almost any industry. This experience will be shared by me to anyone that inquires about my recovery, in addition to friends and family on a Facebook post to come. I can't believe the complete lack of care for my situation, but in reading other complaints on here it seems to have happened before. Update-my situation was resolved by Joe Henderson to my satisfaction. I have updated my review but still feel that leaving this post for future reference by other members may be helpful.

She made a big fuss and was talking really aggressive about it to me trying to make me look like an idiot for no reason. All because I canceled my membership with them. Would not recommend to anyone unless you wanna pay almost 60 dollars a month for a small but decent gym. Overall the management before was a lot better.

They aren't just trying to sell memberships, unlike THRC. The classes don't feel repetitive, unlike Orange Theory. It's not overcrowded, unlike SMAC. I was there all day and noticed that despite tons of people going in and out the bathrooms were kept in immaculately clean. This is definitely a place I would recommend, if you need to hold an event. I noticed they have lots of activities and quite an active little place.
