Oh, and a ton of swimming. The kids get a ton of fresh air, sunshine and exercise. They also get a healthy amount of free time for just chilling out and enjoying summer... playing games, crafts, ball games, hanging out with friends.

We signed up our daughter for the Camp Rising Star singing camp. This camp had students learn a…read moregroup song, create their own unique song, and record these songs in a professional studio with a Grammy winning producer. Our daughter was very nervous about singing at the camp, but after the first day, she was excited to create her unique song, and make it through. Prince was the camp director, and such a positive influence for all students. By the third day of camp, all students had recorded their own unique song. Day 4, they had a professional photo shoot to create a cover for their new single. Day 5 they wrote a biography, which they presented with their final song and cover art. These were also posted on Reverbnation.com for others to enjoy like a real professional musicia. All students songs and art came out beautiful. We highly recommend this camp to anyone looking to expand their music career.

What stood out to me right away were the colorful tiles covering the ground throughout the village. They make the whole area feel bright and cheerful as you walk around. The place itself isn't very big, but there's quite a bit to look at. I saw a lot of artwork and paintings displayed in the different studios, and some of them were really beautiful. It's easy to spot because of the colorful tiled walkways and the small colorful shops scattered throughout the village. There's also a cute coffee cart tucked in the back with a nice selection of unique drinks. For parking, I noticed there were some spaces near the front, and you can also find parking along the roads nearby. It may take a little looking around depending on when you visit, but I didn't think it was too difficult to find a spot.

It truly is a special place for students to have the opportunity to learn about financial literacy and how to run a business. I was lucky enough to be a business volunteer rather than a chaperone for one of my children's classes, so it was really fun to work with the kids and listen to them work through their business. I really believe that this is a key component missing from most children's education and I see the lack of financial literacy impacting young people after college. Junior Achievement fills this missing piece in curriculum that isn't taught in schools. I hope you have the opportunity to send your child here or you find time to volunteer with this organization. We were stumped about finding another school for her, and traditional public style wasn't sitting right with us for many reasons. Then I started seeing posts on Facebook about Kidwings, and their summer camps looked so fun, easy to sign up for, so we gave a few weeks a try. Turns out my 4yr old loved them, and we enrolled her in the 25/26 school year without hesitation. She picks wild flowers everywhere she goes, and tells me about the different plants she's learned at school. Yes, we live in beautiful San Diego- there's many outside activities available, and good weather almost all the time, however I still don't think most children these days are getting adequate time in nature, especially with all of the smart phone/tech that's at their fingertips. Outdoor time for my kids is essential to me. Finding this resource for my daughter- to learn while playing outside is the biggest blessing. The school's organization is always dependable, the teachers are caring, there are seasonal celebrations that we enjoy as a family, and we get to be around other like minded individuals. We couldn't ask for more.
