This store is conveniently located inside the Gyles Shopping centre. It's small, but plenty of space for a few people. Besides the usual chocolate selections and some amazing offers, they also sell deliciously tasty ice cream. read more

Bains sweet shop isn't expensive and the owner John is such a lovely man, he is so charismatic, passionate and takes the time to chat and pass on his knowledge of making Tablet. He even went the extra mile and sent me the recipe which is amazing! I plan to make it with my niece and hope it turns out half as good as Bains tablet. The kids love it, I love it and I will be stocking up on treats for xmas or buying gift vouchers for a later date. I highly recommend visiting and don't worry if you can't get to the shop you can always order online and buy some of those old favourites from your childhood as a gift for yourself or for someone else you know who has a sweet tooth. Bains literally has all sweets and treats imaginable!

Lickety Splits definitely has a lot more character than most and if it's wedding favours, gifts, childrens party bags or just some sweets for yourself you don't have to look any further. It's a really nice idea for wedding favours and all you need to do is choose what kind of sweets it is you're after and Lickety Splits will gift wrap everything into little favours, very cute. The decor is gorgeous with wooden flooring, quirky tables and polka dot patterns, it's very bright and airy and all the sweets are organised in glass tubs on fresh white painted shelves. My favourite sweeties have to be the little chocolate cups they're so addictive and moreish. I only found out about this place last week but I think I'll be popping in quite a bit now I know it's there, I could go for some fried eggs just now actually.

The lady in the shop was very knowledgable about her stock. She was able to match people with their local sweets and talk a lot about the changes sweets have gone through over the years (no more cocaine on our sweeties!!). The gallery/gift shop area was a nice little browse too. The shop is very small so our group of 10 was a bit squashed when some other shoppers arrived. The shop is dog friendly and had some water and food outside for any visiting pooches!

Everything from Edinburgh Rock & Bon Bon's to sour pineapples & foam strawberries. I could have spent ages looking around this shop. For someone who can't remember a lot of these sweets it was really nice to see all of them together in one shop. The ice cream counter looked fantastic and had I not forgotten to take money out and hadn't a clue where a cash machine was, I would have came out of here with a very big smile on my face and a very large dent in my wallet.

Unable to resist, we stepped inside and scoped out the walls and walls of candy. It's hard to make a decision when faced with so much! Wish I'd had more time (and it hadn't been so cold!) so I could have tried the icy treats. :) If you like candy, sweet little old shop ladies, or cute shops, this place is worth a stop in.

Ahhh my new love. I love love love Coco chocolate!…read more If you're around the area its well worth stopping by to try the free samples. There is a large variety of chocolate on their shelves, each bar lovingly made and with such creative flavours it'll be hard to choose just one. Highly recommended- lavender chocolate. And their chocolate almonds are pretty fantastic too. I will say it's quite pricey but it's worth it. There are also truffles available as well as stunning gift boxes that make a great gift idea (this was my Valentine's day gift. Loved it!) It's a very small space with a few seats. My reccomendation would be to buy 3 bars for £12, go home, and prepare to have your mind blown by the sheer awesomeness that it Coco chocolate. Or give it away as a gift or share it or something.
Yyyyyyyaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!…read more *runs around house in delight* I was so darn excited when I noticed this little shop had opened, that I nearly dragged a visiting family member into traffic just to peer through the window. One quick little search will prove: I really really like Coco. In fact, I quite recently wrote about the Bruntsfield location and true to form, this little Stockbridge spots lives up to the artisan reputation. So why did this little place get the coveted five stars over Bruntsfield's four? Because it's LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES FROM MY HOUSE! Wheeee!! Pre-warning: it is tiny. I wouldn't plan to stay here for a beverage, though Caz is right and they have a chair or two in the window. However, if you have more than two people in the shop, you'd be near elbow to elbow, so I don't see it being a relaxing coffee stop any time soon. BUT they've got a beautiful wall of chocolate bars with every flavour under the sun, a small glass shelved collection of their infamous hand painted chocolates and informal bags of squares, nut clusters, etc, perfect for grey Mondays or "get me through this week" Wednesday afternoons. Between this and Patisserie Madeleine across the road, I see a new waistline in my future...
A wall of happy!
