Do not go to this awful shop! I went in with my niece who was staying for the weekend in Portobello while on her October break. She wanted to browse the toys with her pocket money. The horrible wife of the owner stood right next to us with her arms folded watching us intently asking what we wanted. I said my niece was just browsing and was that alright. She said yes and she could browse as much as she wanted. After one minute, she said "has she browsed enough now?" I was confused and asked if there was a time limit. She said yes and that they were closing for lunch. I live in Portobello and I know very well they don't close for lunch. My niece quickly chose something, we paid and left. My poor little niece was so upset from the rudest lady she'd ever met. It ruined her whole weekend which had been lovely. No idea what happened there, she obviously just didn't like our faces and they did not close until much later in the afternoon so that was a lie. Baffling, grumpy small business owners who just like random bullying of their customers for no apparent reason. Oh I did go in to complain to the husband a wee while later, since the wife was nowhere to be seen, and I received the most insincere flimsy apology which in no way made up for the upset caused. Won't ever go there again. read more
