Can I give zero stars?
My experience with this place was extremely disappointing and expensive. What initially felt like a clear path turned into what felt like a bait-and-switch over time. You sign up for a year, reach green belt, and are led to believe the end is close--yet years later, after spending around $8,000, you're still labeled a "junior black belt," with additional requirements and costs added along the way. Advancement processes changed and felt unclear, and it often seemed structured to extend monthly payments rather than provide transparent expectations.
The owners are rarely present, and most decisions appear to be left to instructors. One instructor in particular was responsible for advancement discussions, and I found the guidance inconsistent and misleading. That reflects on management, since instructors act as representatives of the business.
I was also disappointed to learn that the black belt offered here does not appear to be recognized by the organizations I researched, which matters to many students. That information was never made clear upfront.
To be fair, when qualified instructors were present, the training itself was decent. Several instructors were skilled--Jason, in particular, was excellent. Unfortunately, good instructors are overshadowed by business practices that, in my experience, lacked transparency.
I ultimately walked away after a significant investment of time and money, and that decision was not made lightly. I would strongly encourage prospective students and parents to ask very specific questions about total cost, advancement timelines, instructor oversight, and external recognition before committing. read more
