We…read moreopted to go for the adult only retreat as our youngest child (the only one left) had no desire to go and if we weren't taking our kid we certainly didn't want to deal with anyone else's. Going into this trip I didn't know much, other than they had horses and that was what I wanted to do - ride horses. We arrived really early in the morning and was picked up at the airport, which was the size of a postage stamp. It was really easy to find our person, who grabbed our bags and loaded them into the trailer while we sat in the van. Met some others that were on the trip on the way to the lodge. Upon arrival they had a tent setup in the front where they greeted us, gave us a bag with a map of the property and list of that week's activities, told us our rooms weren't ready yet but they would find us when they were. Now - I'm going to note that they said they would find us when our room was ready and I didn't think they really would. We continued to check in to see when the room would be ready, but then later I saw them literally hunting someone down to give her keys - so they will indeed find you. When we checked in the room was a standard lodge room, we had a fridge but our friends didn't, in mentioning this in passing to the staff they brought them a fridge. Talk about service! We spent the next four days riding horses mostly, but also enjoying the company of the other guests and hearing stories from the staff. While we were really heavy on the horse rides we also enjoyed taking a tour of the elk preserve and clay sporting. We got a ride up to the yoga spot for a view (weren't too keen on hiking up there) and spent a good amount of time in the bar with fellow guests chatting up the staff. Everyone was amazing and so accommodating- I had said it was a bucket list trip but the staff at the Averill ranch has me seriously considering returning next year. Thank you for the memories.

We were lucky because we were the only guests that evening and upon arrival, it immediately felt like a dream home away from home. Our suite was gorgeous and the fireplace and claw foot tub ensured that our stay was peaceful and relaxing. In speaking with Jami prior to our arrival, I could tell that her entire focus was to ensure that she created the experience we were hoping for. Our four course dinner was absolutely delectable, and Jami catered to the preferences of our palette. We had enjoyed your delicious crab appetizer in the great room by the fireplace, and dinner soon followed. The salad with blue cheese was fresh and light and the New York strip steak was prepared medium rare, just as we had requested. The cut of meat was tender and it was accompanied by a béarnaise sauce a red wine Demi-glaze. OMG!!! And also yum... I'm still thinking about those brown butter mashed potatoes! We couldn't decide on which dessert we wanted, so we ordered one of each. Sitting by the window, with dimly lit lights, a Christmas tree and a fireplace was magical. Since we were the only guests, Jami let us decide what time we wanted breakfast (the omelet and potatoes were perfect) and we were granted a late checkout. Jami and Danny truly went above and beyond and I can't wait for our next trip back in 2022. Thank you SO much!

CCL is hidden away from the Montana tourist crowds, around 20 miles west of Kalispell. It is definitely worth the drive. The lodge is a classic beauty, inside and out. Surrounded by trees with rolling mountains in the distance. Along one side is an airstrip, so if you prefer to fly in that is an option. For the rest of us, it provides a nice, open field of view while relaxing out on the porch watching deer meander by. Our room was very comfortable, spacious, and nicely appointed. Satellite TV, wifi, DVD player, small fridge, good shower pressure, nice linens, and screened door & windows (allowing for sleeping with them open (in summer)). A microwave is also available in the "pub room." Breakfast was spectacular. Chrys presented us gourmet meals each morning. She was delightful and informative. It was a great way to start each day before setting off for our daily touring. If your plans are to visit the Glacier National Park area, you need to be prepared for adding what amounts to an extra half-hour driving each way, but as I previously said, staying at CCL is worth the drive time. The only negative could be that dinner time is somewhat problematic. A trade-off for the seclusion is that there are not many options nearby to eat. It worked out for us due to having late-lunches after our hikes, which then allowed us to get by with snacking for dinner (and enjoying bottles of wine), but if you are traveling with kids or a big group, dinnertime will take some extra planning. Hard Drive. Buy the book. A very good read. Overall, Cabin Creek Landing B&B gets our highest recommendation. A beautiful place and an excellent value. If we are ever back in the area, we'll definitely stay there again!

As of yesterday, we will not return until it is under new ownership. A couple years ago, we were there and had an issue with some dogs barking. We cleared it up with Tom and thought all is well and that we would continue going there, renting and contributing to the local economy. We made a reservation for two cabins this weekend to celebrate three important life events - my father's 80th, my sister's life changes and a family member's upcoming deployment. All 10 of us drove up from Spokane. When we arrived they came out and yelled at one of us for driving too fast. Then they yelled at us for picking an apple (not listed as not OK). Then, my sister - the one going through difficult life changes was paying our animal deposit. Brenda started in about how they almost didn't rent to us and thought about black listing us. My sister remarked on this negativity, causing Tom to say 'we don't need any of your psychobabble!' Keeping a much longer story short, we decided to pack it in and leave. We had to endure 5 hours in a hot car, the expense of travel, and the downer mood this left us all in, during what should have been a joyous weekend. I don't know whether they rented to us then decided to pull all these shenanigans once we got there, or whether it went bad spontaneously. Needless to say, we will not go back to a beloved location until these folks are gone. The place has been for sale for a long time. Perhaps the negative energy they emit drives potential buyers away. My message to you is buyer (renter) beware.

We stayed in my truck camper with the view of one of the two beautiful ponds. Full water and electricity hook-ups. Privacy and very comfortable. The horses were in their own ginormous pasture, tree lined with ample supply of fresh spring water and clean, weed-free grazing. We only supplemented their food with our own hay, since it was later in the summer and the grass was low. And the adjoining trails were challenging and fun. Water, hills, obstacles... all sorts of opportunity to enjoy! We could have just stayed in one of their 5 cabins along side another of their ponds. We were able to get a peek in a few and they were lovely. A basic log cabin, but in great shape. Our wonderfully gracious hosts, Brenda and Tom, were beyond accommodating. We are returning FOR SURE!!!
