The wife broke her retainer from another ortho (long gone) and called to see if she could get a new one from Thompson and to schedule a consultation/first visit for my son. They would not see my wife because they don't do "retainer only" patients because it isn't profitable for them. That lack of customer service made the decision for us that our kids won't be going there for their braces which was the next question my wife was going to ask them. read more

I had braces from Thompson Orthodontics 2x and wear my retainers every night. Retainers wear out and they used to cover retainers for patients however they don't do this anymore. I would look around as in the future this will cost you over $150 annually going forward where other orthodontist don't charge this and care about long term patient satisfaction. Despite what another reviewer said, Dr Thompson gives you a free set of retainers the day you get braces off and then covers any damage for the first year with no cost. After that they are only $50 ea to replace (most Ortho's charge $200+!) Unless the person is being careless, retainers should easily last 5 or more years with zero "wear and tear". He is extremely good with patients and cares a lot about their long term care. (Hence the cheap retainers) I would 1000% recommend going to Thompson Orthodontics! read more

Very disappointing. I spent a fortune for 2 daughters to get braces. Long story short I am now paying for braces again with a different orthodontist. Dr. Thompson gives every person the same treatment which is only done by changing wire size every few weeks. This may straighten your teeth but doesn't adjust your bite. As a result permanent retainers pop off, teeth start to move and there are gaps where your bite should be touching. Beware of this. Orthodontics isn't just about straight teeth. It's about adjusting the JAW and BITE. This can only be done with the assistance of several different mechanics such as TADS, widing apparatus and spurs as my daughter had with her new orthodontist. I had no idea how bad of a job Dr. Thompson did until l found a perfectionist that was giving me my money's worth! My daughters smiles are gorgeous NOW from their NEW orthodontist! read more

Medical service was acceptable. However, when there was a glitch in credit card processing, they went all lawyer-like, quoting the agreement, charging late fees and threatening more (Chase bank decided that they wanted to add a chip to their credit card, and even though the card number remained the same, the expiration date changed so that caused the charge to be rejected). Bear in mind that I was actively working to try to figure out what was going on with the credit card, calling the bank, and letting them know that I was working on it, but that did not seem to stop their drive to try to collect extra fees and treat me not like a valued customer but like a bank account. I strongly prefer to do business with companies that do not help on errors that are not even the customers fault in order to make literally less than five extra dollars. So in the future, I would choose not to do business with them, regardless of the adequacy of the services they provide. read more

I wanted to get some spaces closed in my teeth in both my upper and lower jaw. Dr. Thompson kept pushing invisalign and saying that I was a good candidate for invisalign. I asked what the cost difference was between invisalign and braces. He stated they both cost the same. I asked him what the pros and cons were with invisalign. He said the only con was that people will some times lose their invisalign or forget to put them in. He did not mention that the invisalign may not work and he would have to put on braces if invisalign did not work. In my case, the invisalign only lined up my upper and lower midline. Even though the midline was lined up, after wearing the invisalign for 8 months, my lower teeth were slanting to make the midline line up. Before I found out that I would have to wear braces for an additional 8 months, this was what I experienced. An experienced dental assistant took a 3D digital image of my teeth the first time. This was comfortable and not painful. The second time a 3D scan was taken, an intern took the pictures. She could not get the pictures she needed and become frustrated. She was shoving the scanner in my mouth and demanding that I open my mouth more. I knew it was how she was slanting the scanner because I had been through this before. She caused some busing in my mouth. The only time they had available to pick up my aligners was during the time I work. I took off a half day and went to pick up the aligners. The intern did not submit the order correctly and no one at the office checked to see if the aligners were in before I came to pick up the aligners. They offered me a $25 dollar gift card. I was upset because I make much more than $25 dollars in 4 hours. After 8 months my teeth were not straight. I then had to wear braces for 8 months. Two weeks before my braces were to come off, my back bracket came off. I went in to get it fixed. Dr. Thomson placed the gule/cement on my back tooth and began using the blue light to cure the glue/cement. He then began talking to a neighbor in his office. He turned his head and the blue light tube slipped. The bracket was a millimeter higher than it had been before. I did not know what would happen because of this. I figured it would be okay. The braces readjusted my whole upper left bite, bowing out 5 teeth. My bite is now off. I told Dr. Thompson about the movement of my teeth. His solution was to take a tool to sand off some of my enamel to see if this helped my bite to feel normal. He did not move the bracket down and said that we were going to take off the braces any way. Also a tooth that had been used for rubber bands had shifted because it was constantly being pulled on by the band. That was never fixed nor did Dr. Thompson feel that it was necessary. My braces were taken off and he did not have time to take off all of the glue/cement. My dentist had to scrape my teeth for 45 minutes to get all of the glue/cement off. My retainer started to tear even though I did everything they asked to keep it in good condition. I called to tell them this and the receptionist said I would have to pay $100 dollars. I could not talk to the Dr. about it because he doesn't work on Fridays. She also told me that if I wanted any of my teeth adjusted that he would have to break the mold and that would be $150. I decided to wait for my appointment because I didn't have the money to pay for a new retainer that should be free. I went in for my 6 week appointment and the dental assistant said that because it was within a year I would get a free retainer made. I used my torn retainer for 3 weeks because the receptionist said I would have to pay no matter what. Because of this, my teeth shifted out of place even more. There were SEVERAL other miss communications and dental deformities that had occurred during my 16 month experience. I told the dental assistant to make my retainer and that I would be going to another orthodontist. My decision is to go to another orthodontist. I do not care how much I have to pay to get my bite fixed. But, it will not be by an incompetent staff this time. I recommend not using Dr. Thompson because his staff is not trained very well and those who answer the phone do not share the same information as the dental assistants. The Dr. does not listen to all of your concerns. Writing this review does not make me feel better nor will I receive any compensation. I write this only to warn others of the service you could possibly receive from this Dr. and office. GO TO AN ORTHODONTIST THAT HAS MORE EXPERIENCE. read more
