I was very nervous because I was removing all 4, had never had an IV, and had never experienced any type of sedation/anesthesia. The whole staff went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. They were adept in their skills while providing the highest level of kindness and compassion. Dr. Mills did a wonderful job, and I truly believe that I was in the best care possible. Those instructions were phoned to him after I checked in, while sitting near the front desk in mortification, waiting to have my teeth cleaned. Mt family have been patients of the Whitefields since 1979. My daughter is the 3rd generation to be seen by this practice. This long-standing relationship with this practice will most likely come to an end after our past visit a couple of days ago. I was told the prices increased exorbitantly because the practice has expanded. I was offered a payment plan I've never needed in the last 47 years to be able to afford my dentist. I remember Dr. Whitefield kindly bringing my sister in on weekends to work on her teeth when she was down on her luck because that was a day he devoted to helping those without insurance for a low to no cost visit. Now? My daughter was charged twice the cost because she does not have insurance. This is the same little girl who would follow Dr. Mark around in the office as he would show her the various equipment and take the time to be a family dentist. Now that same girl is in college and being charged twice as much as an insured patient because "the practice has grown to more than one doctor and we charge insurance companies less than what we charge self-pay because we have to keep costs low for the insurance companies to pay. But we do offer monthly payment plans now" My parents have already left the practice and found a new dentist who seems to care. My sister, who had been a loyal patient of Dr. Whitefield's (and his father before,) had to look for a different dentist as well. I have resisted leaving because my daughter has special needs and saw Dr. Mark and his hygienist, Meredith, since she was 3 and doesn't want to leave the only dental practice she's known. But after being treated so embarrassingly by the office staff (whose excuse was that the practice has expanded and they have to be tougher on patients and payments), and no longer having Dr. Mark as a dentist, and the chairs and equipment looking run down while the waiting area overflows with too many bodies... I think it's time to go. This was a good practice. I saw them every six months for the last 47 years as a patient through school, college, employment, death, unemployment, and the rigors of life... and that apparently doesn't matter anymore. Only the fact that I'd better pay twice the cost for my uninsured daughter that I paid for myself and I'd better pay it before I leave matters to this practice. it's a shame.

I…read morewent to go see Dr. Temlock at Nashville Periodontal Group in his Nashville, TN office (they have a Brentwood, TN location too) after I went to another local periodontist that my general dentist referred me to. The experience with the other Periodontist felt rushed, uninspiring, and it felt like they just wanted my money and required a deposit to schedule my surgery after 15 minutes with the staff and maybe 5 minutes with the doctor. So, I wanted a second opinion, and I am so happy I did! First, I want to talk about Dr. Temlock. He spent an entire hour with me at my initial consultation, and he really took the time to explain everything to me in terms that I could understand. I've never seen a doctor or dentist spend that much time with me! His chair-side manner was a 10/10, and I felt totally educated about my periodontal issue. He was there to answer all my questions, and he helped guide me through the anticipated surgery so I could make the right decision for MYSELF! He was so kind, patient, and genuine. This was almost the exact opposite of what occurred at the first periodontist's office. Second, his staff was super nice, and they helped me out every step of the way regarding the logistics. They need to be mentioned here too because they were so awesome too! I was very anxious about my surgery, but Dr. Temlock's knowledge, skills, confidence, and experience really put me at ease. I chose to be sedated for my procedure (and this was the best money I ever spent throughout the whole situation!), and I do not remember anything! I needed a really bad/cracked tooth removed, a sinus lift, and bone graft so I could get a dental implant. Sounds scary, right!?! Not with Dr. Temlock and Nashville Periodontal Group's staff! Everything went just as he explained it at the consult. He even called me the next day to ask how I was doing and answer my questions. I've couldn't believe the doctor actually called me instead of the nurse! Dr. Temlock really does care about his patients, and he even gave me his phone number in case I had any more questions over the weekend. Lastly, I returned to the office for my follow-up appointment about 3 weeks after the surgery, and Dr. Temlock saw me, took time to personally evaluate the surgical area, and answered all my questions again. I thought I was only going to see the assistant/nurse from Nashville Periodontal Group that day, but Dr. Temlock was the one who entered the room. I couldn't believe it! Dr. Temlock reassured me that I was healing great and right on schedule, and Dr. Temlock explained that everything was on course which helped calm down my anxiety too. Overall, I cannot thank Dr. Temlock and the staff at Nashville Periodontal Group enough! Everyone is so professional and understanding. From the first time I met Dr. Temlock through the last goodbye, I cannot thank him enough. Now that everything major is complete, I am going to get my teeth cleaned with Dr. Temlock's hygienists and alternate between my dentist's office and Nashville Periodontal Group. The whole team at Nashville Periodontal Group are going to make sure they keep a close eye on all my teeth and gums into the future, so I know I am in good hands as Dr. Temlock and all the staff at Nashville Periodontal Group will continue to monitor the rest of my teeth and gums to hopefully minimize and prevent any serious issues in the future. After my experience with Dr. Temlock and Nashville Periodontal Group, I now know that my voice counts and my concerns will be addressed with professionalism, respect, empathy, and truly individualized to my specific needs. I am a service member and prior to the beginning of…read moretreatment I inquired to the dentist billing office person to inform me of the coverage for treatment. They informed that they have received an authorization number from Concordia Dental and as such covered for treatment. After each treatment appointment I again inquired as to any incidental charges for treatment and continued to get the same reply. After the final treatment was performed, they then informed that I was not covered by Concordia because coverage had ended and I was responsible for all charges. At that point I requested a copy of the authorization they had received and on it it clearly stated that treatment needed to be performed prior to expiration date. My initial appointment to start treatment was after the expiration date and they knew this. This dentist clearly deceived me in making me believe I had coverage and continued treatment knowing that at the end I would be responsible for payment. This type of unethical, deceptive practice has just put me in a unnecessary financial hardship. I would recommend Concordia Dental or for that matter any dental insurance company review their ethical behavior as a network provider and remove them from the list.
