Thomasina's ... a place to savour the slower pace of life that can only be had in the bygone days! But for someone who is in a rush, you can also grab a meat pie or some fresh baked pastries and you are on your way! I wanted to sit down and relax after a long drive from Vancouver, so we decided to sit in patio where Daisy ( our French Bulldog ) can also join in. A very friendly gentleman served us and brought our goodies: Americano , Black Tea & Sausage Roll. I really like how their sausage roll has a bit of spice and the filling is very moist and juicy, savoury and succulent, the pastry is still flaky after being warmed. My black tea was served in an English antique cup and saucer, a touch of class is always welcomed!! Love this historic building, in today's market, we are overwhelmed by all the International / National chains, it is a breath of fresh air to visit some place that is unique and offer good service and atmosphere at the same time, and bring us back in time when life is of a much slower pace!!

We needed to grab food so made a quick pit stop in Princeton. Not much selection to choose from so we picked Thomasina's, a small bakery/old school cafe. We dropped in on a Friday (around 11:45am). The patio was already packed with old folks when we arrived. The inside has tons of seating; of the variety that your grandparents had (old, rickety and hard as a rock). Water is self serve in the corner. There's a bunch of baked goods at the counter along with ice cream/gelato. For real food, a small menu consisted of soups/salads, hot dishes and sandwiches. - Sticky bun ($4.00) - good, not too sweet. - Sausage roll ($8.00) - you do get a whole sausage but this is overpriced. Sausage had a subtle kick to it. Pastry and texture was much better than the pie. - Beef pie ($8.00) - we opted for the soup ($2.00) which was a chicken broth with vegetables. The soup is dinky, nothing special about it. Skip it. The beef pie was underwhelming; not flaky, crust had no bite and the filling lacked seasoning. - Turkey brie cranberry sandwich ($12.00 large) - we went with the side salad which was standard, boring fare. The sandwich wasn't bad; at least they use real turkey but you only get half a baguette. Sadly, I barely tasted any cranberry sauce. For the price and taste, not worth it. Stick with their pastries and skip eating in.

3.5. To be fair, this is probably the best cafe/food spot in Princeton. However if you have a decent palate and appreciate good food, you will be disappointed if you think this place is worth 4/5 stars (which is not an accurate portray despite google/yelp reviews). It's odd to see on every table with a little sign saying "please rate us on google: yelp, google reviews, etc. We want to make things right" I get this business wants to encourage people to write good reviews. However I have to be honest in mu ratings as well. Don't expect baked goods to be on par with the amazing bakeries that Vancouver has. If you have low expectations, you can't go wrong (except for their prices). The owner must be the Thai lady who greeted us, as they have a mish mash of food options: Thai food, soups, sandwiches, and baked goods. We were stopping by so we could grab a small bite to eat. Ended up getting some cheese sausage rolI and asked for it to be heated up which she did (but the sausage was still cold). I was surprised it was $8 as there was no price beside it. It is not worth $8 at all. It was a rip off even though it tasted good. I get annoyed when places think it's ok to charge ppl an exuberant amount when the product is just okay. My friend got their home made granola cookie which was $2. I would never pay that amount cos it was pretty small and it didn't even look appealing. I tried it and to me it was worth $1 but I could see it priced at $1.50. Anyways I think for the locals this is probably a 5 star place because they don't know any better. But for outsiders who don't live in Princeton...I would suggest that you continue driving on to the next town for your quick bite to eat. The staff were nice and if you need a quick restroom stop and feel obliged to buy something...buy yourself a muffin or tea and get outta there! It's also kind of telling when you see a mish mash of randomness in a store: candles, teas, random dishes for sale mixed in between Thai food, baked goods, soups and sandwiches. If you want a successful business, stick with one or two good things and focus on that.

Cute little place in Princeton. Owner seems nice and friendly. Little cafe and bakery. Smells amazing when you walk in, but the food I ate was lackluster. Had the sizzling prawn and garden salad. Prawns were not deveined, which is a pet peeve. Salad was clunky and unimaginative. Lettuce pieces were huge. Way overdressed with a oil and balsamic dressing. Bought an $8 sausage roll to go. Dough is tolerable, chrese and chorizo is nice. All in all not horrible, but probably a pass for me.

Cute bakery in Princeton housed in a building that was formerly a silent movie theater built in 1920! Cookies were sold out but chocolate croissants and cafe latte were pretty good though. This was our only stop in Princeton and glad we came down the street and ended up here.

Split the turkey cranberry sandwich and a cup of soup each. Mushroom broth soup is so good. Peach pie was also great!

Food: 3/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Value: 3/5 We made a pit stop here along the way to Kelowna. We were a bit confused whether we were to seat ourselves or pay at the cashier first and then seat. Either would have worked but next time we'll know that sitting first is an option. We shared the turkey and cranberry baguette sandwich and a cup of soup each. The soups that day were a cream of kale and potato soup and a broth-based mushroom soup. The mushroom soup was definitely the winner here - excellent flavour and the hearty mushrooms were delicious. Unfortunately, the sandwich and kale and potato soup fell flat and lacked seasoning. We also had their peach pie which was really tasty - not overly sweet, the crust was nice and the peaches were so fresh. They have a great outdoor covered patio overlooking the main street. A nice café with great, friendly small-town service.

Simple menu, but lots to choose from!

Driving through Princeton looking for a light lunch. Came across this little place where we were greeted by a nice lady who i assume runs the place. Tables are old-church-like with rustic wood floors and trinkets on mantles. Ordered a rustic old mushroom soup with some spanish tapas including assorted sausages, cheese, olives, homemade baked bread, olive oil and balsamic. My gf ordered a meat and cheese panini and salad. Soup: awesome, Bread with balsamic: awesome, everting else: ok. This is definitely a locals place where everyone knew everyone but us. I think they had to practice serving a non-local in a traditional way. Actually, our server didn't actually work there. She was an out of town guest of theirs helping out. But then she was tired of helping and left outside to do something else. Its not really a 4 star except that it had some-kind of likability about the whole experience. Its a cute small business that deserves support to stay around for this small town of Princeton. Give it a try!

Hope Mountain Cafe - The hope mountain breakfast

They serve a large variety of coffees and teas, etc. and many people show up just for the drinks. They also serve a decent breakfast, though the options are limited, as well as soup, salad, and sandwiches (though we were there for breakfast) Still, for a coffee shop breakfast where you order at the counter, $40 isn't cheap, which is what ours ran to. My Hope Mountain breakfast came with scrambled eggs which were good with a garnish, the sausage (apparently deep fried), the potatoes (cubes, also apparently deep fried) were OK but not great, marbled rye toast of the kind of bread you'd get in a grocery store - nothing special. You can choose bacon or sausage, kind of toast, and scrambled, or fried as you like -- so perfectly adequate, not a special breakfast out. My partner got bubble tea and the mega breakfast sandwich - essentially a bagel with omelette-like egg, tomato, cheese, and avocado. Both the tea and the sandwich were fine. But I do want to be clear -- this is a coffee house, not a sit-down restaurant. It is busy, and you kind of fend for yourself. The fact that they make breakfast or sandwiches in the back doesn't turn this into a restaurant with table service.

Latte was large and beautiful, but I didn't like the flavor of the coffee very much. The service…read morewas quick and delivered to counter facing window and park. Nice place to relax, clean with various places to sit. However, there was no public restroom, which was 1/2 the reason I went.
