Great price and quality service. Will be picking up more zoysia sod to lay down, soon.

I rarely leave reviews like this, but I left this business genuinely disgusted by the way I was treated. I came in needing a relatively small amount of very heavy chopped limestone. There were no other customers that I could see, yet I wandered up and down the stone yard trying to figure out how to get help until a forklift driver finally came over. He gave me an approximate price that turned out to be wrong by half, moved the pallet to the scale, had me back my Tahoe up to it, and explained what the scale should read once I had loaded enough stone. He then stood there and watched me struggle to lift and load these extremely heavy pieces by myself. I am a 56-year-old woman who showed up in sandals to purchase landscaping material--not someone remotely equipped to wrestle heavy limestone into an SUV. I certainly don't expect special treatment because I'm a woman, nor do I expect someone to do work for me that I'm perfectly capable of doing myself. This was not that. It was visibly difficult for me to lift these stones, and there was an able-bodied man there just watching. Then I went inside to pay and discovered two more men lounging around chatting. The entire front of the building is windows, and I was loading the stone directly in front of the building, so it's difficult to believe no one inside could see what was happening. Manpower clearly wasn't the problem. Maybe my purchase was too small to warrant much attention. That's certainly how it felt. But a customer spending a little money should still be treated like a customer. Frankly, this bothered me beyond ordinary bad customer service. Texas has a well-earned reputation for men who still behave like gentlemen. I have a hard time imagining most Texas men watching a woman--or really anyone clearly struggling with something that heavy--without instinctively saying, "Here, let me give you a hand." There were three men available here, and apparently that didn't occur to any of them. I eventually got my stone loaded, paid for it, and left. I won't be back. If you're coming here for landscape materials and might need any assistance loading them, I'd strongly recommend going somewhere that treats every customer as though their business matters. read more

Paid for 4 pallets (discounted) and got three usable. 4th was a complete pile of compost. Way older than the 2 days I was told. To hot to touch and extremely decomposed. Tried to get refunded, but manager was set on ripping me off. "You bought discounted grass" yeah, discount grass not compost. Called the main number and spoke with Andy, said I'd get a call back..nada, zip after three days. Not buying from them again. read more

Beware of this company they charge my grandmother $7000 and did not stand behind their product. I had to have somebody else come behind and redo their work that I paid them $7000 for and the people that came out said they have to come behind a lot of their jobs and fix it. If you don't want to be scammed, use somebody else read more

This company has a great product and great customer service. The tiff tuff sod is truly drought resistant as they advertise and has saved our yard from dying in our current drought conditions. read more

Went to get a load of lawn dressing. Had bought the same amount last week but for some reason this week the same amount looked like half of what I got before. When I brought it up, I was basically dismissed. I callled when I got home to ask about it again and was told by the guy on the phone "I got what I got", that's it. I will never purchase anything from this business again. read more

Very polite on the phone, but dodgy in that they don't give estimates over the phone and charge 100 dollars to give an estimate, which is appalling greed.. Definitely will not be using them. read more

Since I was buying grass for my business, and with plenty of awful supplier experiences under my belt, I was very careful about which supplier I selected. This place was referred to me and THEY ARE FANTASTIC. They were so professional, helpful (like went above and beyond to make sure I was situated and setup for success since I was planting in 100 degree weather) and were extremely fair on pricing. By far the fairest price I had been quoted after calling around to 5 other suppliers. And to top it off, the grass was so resilient and healthy. I'm talking lush green within 2 weeks..and that's with it being planted in late June. Highly recommend :) read more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY DON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT! Last week I ordered 5 pallets of Tiptuff. The grass was exactly what you'd expect it to be. This past Friday I ordered 5 more pallets. What I received was already brown and dormant and nothing like the previous week. The 5th pallet had even grown together and was infested with fireants that were carrying larvae. My neighbor, who had also spent thousands with them, suggested I call them and that they would make it right. I did call today and spoke to the guy who is quality-control. He couldn't care one bit and even suggested it was my fault they were the way they were. In the end of him arguing with me, I told him that i would be taking my business elsewhere. BTW -- I'll be needing about 15 more pallets of Tiptuff and about 12 pallets of Geo, or about $6000! read more

The sod I purchased was fresh and if you were to see it after two weeks. I did prepare with starter fertilizer, added top soil after using a pitch fork in the area, so, yes I plan to be a customer for life. Best grass you can purchase for a fair price. Remember to test your soil before planting sod or you might kill your own grass. read more

Fast and friendly delivery and ordering , the sod was in real bad shape and paid double the going rate had to buy another pallet to replace it paid 75 for the good stuff from street vendor read more

I went in to the I35 location to get some pallets of St. Augustine for my daughter's grave site. There was no charge for the eight pallets they gave me. I was told they never charge when it is for a cemetery plot. I took the grass out and put it down immediately and am watering it everyday. I'm hoping God's water today and this week will really help it. In a world where there is so much negativity and bad attitudes, it is nice to find people who care and do nice things for others. Thank you, Thomas Turfgrass. read more

Bad business. This is the second time I have had problems with this company! The first time I purchased grass and they were short on another order and gave all of my grass away. The manager was extremely rude and disrespectful over the phone about the whole issue. Then they told me mine would come in at a later date. Which after I called the home office it ended up showing up two days later. I tried giving them a second chance! I purchased grass on Saturday from them 3/2/19. The first layer of grass was excellent, which was like 6 pieces. Then the WHOLE PALLET of grass was crap! It was literally falling apart in my hands. We tried to find at least one good piece but unfortunately we couldn't. I called the office and told them that the grass was bad! And the response I received from ANDY was " ok and". Really great business practices. read more

Avoid this place, they either don't know what they're doing or they don't mind selling dead grass to people. Pallet of St. Augustine they pulled from was hot on the inside and smelled fermented. Needless to say it was all dead grass and of course they have a policy of no returns. read more

Got a few pallets of sod from them this summer. Because of weed and johnson grass issues, we killed and tilled up my entire front yard. After making sure all was dead, we laid sod. After more than a month of daily hand waterings, instead of a nice lawn of St Augustine, I have an OK lawn as well as a host of all new weed issues brought in with this poor quality sod. Not to mention quite a bit of bermuda grass that we saw on the sod as we took it off the pallet. Hoping it gets choked out, but it is thriving and spreading so far. We now have a nutsedge infestation that we need to treat. Had never seen nutsedge before we got this sod. According to one agricultural website, "They (nutsedge) are among the most problematic weeds of agriculture." Traded one set of headaches for another. Great! I found it interesting that it took their "grass" guy a couple of days to identify nutsedge for me. Wonder how long he has been their go to guy for grass/weed issues? Seems they need better quality control and weed treatment of their grasses BEFORE harvesting for sale. I got some story about seeds blowing... I can get that, but this is more than just a few seeds. I had entire pieces that turned out to be all grass-like weeds and ended up pulling them up. This is a company cheaping out by not treating their grass and then advising customers on the back end how to treat the issues they inherit with their sod purchase. They need to invest in their sod to make sure folks get what they pay for instead letting their customers deal with it. I won't be back... and we have more sodding to do!! read more

I paid for 3 pallets of sod to be delivered to my house that Thomas Turf Grass was receiving on a Thursday and were to be delivered Friday. The next day. They were delivered correctly but all 3 were different sizes. There was no evidence of shipping dunnage on the top of all 3 of them. In fact all 3 had had top layers removed to different levels. Obviously they had removed sod to what ever required level they needed to sell my sod off the top to others. I paid full price and did not receive 3 full pallets. read more

I honestly can't understand any negative review of Thomas Turfgrass. We visited the farm in McDade to look at all the varieties available. A tech came out that afternoon to provide an estimate and confirm that the varieties we chose would work in our area. We agreed on the bid and there were workers out on our property in 3 days. They were super fast, efficient, did great work and cleaned up any mess (they even offered to take the stuff they raked up with them to dispose of). The grass looked AMAZING! We followed the care directions to the letter but because of weather conditions, developed a bit of a problem. We called the office for help in diagnosing, and when they had trouble diagnosing from pictures, someone actually came out to look. Turns out we watered too much and got brownspot, which they helped us fix right away. Personal service, they knew us by name, they were super kind and helpful -- They were fantastic. I wonder if some of the bad reviews have to do more with the contractor people chose than Thomas Turfgrass. Anyway, I know we aren't their biggest clients, but I absolutely feel like their most grateful clients. We have 100% recommended them to our entire neighborhood, family, and friends. read more

I purchased 26 pallets of Palisades Zoysia from Thomas Turfgrass in Schertz, Tx. and had it installed late summer, 2021. All 26 pallets were infested with Armyworms when delivered. Within three weeks, when it was diagnosed by a local landscaper, all the grass appeared dead. Thomas claims that in Spring, it will come back up from the roots. I hope they are correct, but understandably have my doubts. I have been watering according to schedule, but it looks like I paid $12,000 for two inches of compost. read more

When I ordered the sod, I instructed them where to put the pallets, even painted it so it couldn't be missed. When they delivered it, they left it on the curb.. not where I requested it. I called and asked them to come back, which they said they would and move it to the requested location. Nobody ever came back nor called. Poor customer service. I'll never use again. I now have to do twice the work for the job. read more

I read the other comments and I agree with the hot and smelly comment. that happened to me too. however, I called and complained that this was unacceptable due to purchasing 4 pallets and one was not the same caliber. I told them I wanted a discount and without question accommodated my request. I truly would and will buy more grass from them. they hold their promises and I admire their ethics. read more

Called the New Braunfels location to see if they had any Palmetto grass available and the guy that answered said he may have one pallet. I asked how the process worked if I needed to order it ahead of time and if they would be getting any more Palmetto in. He just apathetically said, "No." Like, no never again or no not today or no but would you like to order some? His whole attitude was I could care less about your business. If this is my first encounter I will go somewhere else. read more

I had a lot of questions concerning planting grass in the winter time, Daniel was very responsive and knew what he was talking about. They quickly accommodated my o order. The grass was clean cut and easy to handle. Did I also mention Daniel is very good looking? read more

Called this company on Tuesday June 12, 2019 and spoke with a gentleman. He informed me that he had 2 men out so he would call me the following Monday to schedule an appointment to come to our property and give us an estimate on the amount of grass we needed and what the cost would be to install. During our phone conversation he tried pulling up our address on google map. Received a call back on Monday June 17th and was told we would have to pay $100.00 to get an estimate of the cost. Not sure what kind of company this is but I definetly will not being doing business with you. LOOK AT THE REVIEWS BEFORE CALLING THIS COMPANY!!!!! read more
