"5 Stars says it all... Angel & Blue Pig a must."…read more We got to Lymlington in time for an evening meal and searching the high street for a suitable place and we found 'The Angel & Blue Big'. We had a quick look inside and was warmly greeted with energy by Manager. We hadn't booked and despite this he found us a very nice cosy corner. The decor is fresh, clean and depending where you want to site can be cosy and relaxing. Waitresses were very attentive, positive, and engaging. Food: we had the specials, soup of the day followed by one order for a delicious Honey Roast Ham Hock and one Roast Chicken. Both dishes were superb, and I would recommend anyone to try the Ham Hock while it's on the specials, really was lovely. Drink: we stuck with Ale and had some local Ringwood Blonde, they did have a good choice to select from. Good to see pubs/restaurants stocking local brews. 5 stars says it all for this venue, warm, welcoming, friendly and fantastic cuisine, couldn't recommend it enough. I couldn't see how a previous reviewer say this venue is more pub than restaurant... It's so not. Its a restaurant with a bar. Also someone said about it being over priced, well compared to their local Harvester is might be but to us, it perfect valve for this food and service. See my Tuesday review for over priced restaurant... The Angel & Blue Pig was half price of my previous review but had better service, atmosphere and food.

I've been to this pub a couple of times now and I really want to love it...but for some reason I…read moredon't. Aesthetically, it's really lovely. Big open spaces, well decorated, a big log fire by the door. It also has the perfect location, right on the quay side in the pretty harbor of Lymington. The food, however, is pretty average. The main menu is standard pub grub. They did have a few specials which stood out - I went for the muscles and the boyf went for ox cheek. Both were good but not outstanding. The service was a bit lacking. There was only one visible waitress/bar tender who was clearly rushed of her feet so there was a bit of a wait to be served. She then proceeded to tell us how unhelpful her colleagues were being!! I don't think this was really appropriate and certainly didn't add anything to our experience. The drinks prices were quite steep too - over a fiver each for the smallest glasses of wine I have ever seen. I have to say the the Sauvignon Blanc was good though. Overall, no major complaints, just not enough good stuff to make me rush back!

The menu is well done, mainly traditional British dishes with clever little twists. There is a patio areato the rear sitiing about 40 people, however there is no smoking in this outside area. The service is generally good, although when it is busy you can be waiting quite a while. Overall, a pleasant pub in a nice location on the quay. Sunday lunch for 2 with wine, and desert £50 approx.

The decoration is very traditional and you'll find all sorts of antiques on the walls. The beer selection is great and I enjoyed some of the local bitters that were on tap. The food was very tasty and was your traditional pub grub. The fact that I went here twice during my four days in Brockenhurst proves that I really like this place. Would definitely return.

It's a surprisingly large pub, although I'm not entirely sure it's laid out in the best possible way. My boyfriend and I were seated on a table that felt a little like it was in a corridor, with wait staff and customers squeezing past us on a regular basis. The food menu is big and focuses on fresh, local produce. They also have a number of daily changing specials on top of the standard menu. I went for the beef wellington, and the boyf went for the whole gurnard, one of the specials. The gurnard was apparently delicious - the boyf leaving nothing but the bones (he even ate the eyes!!). The wellington was pretty good, and certainly large. A big chunk of fillet steak, pate and mushroom encased in light flaky pastry. Admittedly, it was easier to eat when the wait staff remembered to bring me a steak knife, unfortunately, I was three quarters of the way through by this point! Both dishes came with separate veg, a great selection but looking a little microwaved. We could only manage to share a pud - we went for the creme brûlée which was good but not exceptional. The wait staff were mainly youngsters but they were friendly and efficient. The pub also has a nice garden, can imagine it would make a great place for a pub lunch when the summer eventually arrives.
