I had the whitebait which was tasty, but served with eight triangles of bread, followed by the sirloin which was OK. Should have gone for the goats cheese and beetroot salad followed by whole fish or pie. Mmmmm pies. Ringwood ales and the normal cooking and strong lagers. The outside garden had a marquee roof over it and there was a Mount Gay Rum bar and live music out there. Clientèle - could have been in Devon. con: people smoking inside the marquee pro: great atmosphere, friendly staff and honest pub grub.

There is a decent pub menu with decent prices and, my favorite, a beautiful walled garden. The garden is real suntrap in the summer and well maintained and comes with a big golden labrador. The food is typical pub fayre and is well cooked and presented. The bar has a good selection of beer, larger and wine. The staff are helpful and polite. Lovely place for lazy lunch in the sun. Lunch for two with drinks £25. There is also a covered tv area for sporting events.

ATTACKED BY MEMBER OF STAFF After a verbal argument with an…read more18yr old immature barmaid, i was sitting down at the table and was attacked from behind receiving numerous injuries to my head and face, resulting in going to court being found that the employee was wrong and I was acting in self defence after I defended myself, the landlord is yet to accept this as why would he want to as it would do his business harm. Obviously his small minded opinion is beyond a court of law, Beware!!! Your entering a goldfish bowl area here... DO NOT COMPLAIN.... To many young immature self conceited teens work here. Her sister then entered the property i was staying at and tried to stab me whilst I was asleep, I was lucky to wake up and suffered injury as I caught the knife as it was thrust down towards my neck, she is awaiting sentencing. We had a quick look inside and was warmly greeted with energy by Manager. We hadn't booked and despite this he found us a very nice cosy corner. The decor is fresh, clean and depending where you want to site can be cosy and relaxing. Waitresses were very attentive, positive, and engaging. Food: we had the specials, soup of the day followed by one order for a delicious Honey Roast Ham Hock and one Roast Chicken. Both dishes were superb, and I would recommend anyone to try the Ham Hock while it's on the specials, really was lovely. Drink: we stuck with Ale and had some local Ringwood Blonde, they did have a good choice to select from. Good to see pubs/restaurants stocking local brews. 5 stars says it all for this venue, warm, welcoming, friendly and fantastic cuisine, couldn't recommend it enough. I couldn't see how a previous reviewer say this venue is more pub than restaurant... It's so not. Its a restaurant with a bar. Also someone said about it being over priced, well compared to their local Harvester is might be but to us, it perfect valve for this food and service. See my Tuesday review for over priced restaurant... The Angel & Blue Pig was half price of my previous review but had better service, atmosphere and food.

There are relaxing spaces for adults on the front patio and a large family and dog friendly garden with play area to the rear. All dogs will be given a very warm welcome, we have treats, toys, water, blankets, dog beer and even their own dinner bowl on a Sunday. The food menu is varied and includes traditional pub dishes, Sunday carvey and exciting specials all using local produce. Kids and Senior menus are available along with a selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. A charity quiz night is held every Monday and our poker tournament is every Thursday. Sunday nights are popular with great live music including rock, blues, folk and the open mic night. Please see our website for details. It was fairly busy at the time so I guess it's a popular haunt, it certainly has the feel of a proper local. We didn't stop for lunch, just a refreshing pint and some crisps, but the menu looked like typical pub grub with a few specials on the board. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming, downsides included a telly showing Cash in the Attic or some such tosh, and grotty loos, but overall it's a good stop off for a beer and a wee!

It can get quiet busy, it tends to be an alternative scene in there, but it's very friendly and is mostly a good atmosphere. Most people remember it as the place with all the Absolut Vodka bottles with all the chocolate in them! They have a huge selection of (sickly) chocolatey vodka shots behind the bar. If you ask people where they've been they never remember the name just the vodka! They also have a jukebox in there, but its usually kept well topped up!
