We were told by the security guard for the Mary Rose Muesuem that this is the best Fish and Chips in the world. This recommendation did not live up to it's flare. We walked in and sat ourselves. The atmosphere is quaint with white and Robin egg blue walls, brass sconces and dark wooden tables. The menus are at the table and you order at the bar. The cashier missed a meal when checking in and then was abrupt and unapologetic about it. We got our food and it was average. The chips were not the perfect crispy outside and soft inside as our security guard said. It was dry inside. The fish was okay. I was dissappointed in the condiments, instead of malt vinegar and tartar we had ranch dressing and white vinegar. This was a far cry from "The best fish and chips in the world." It was average at best.

Horrible service. If you are pressed for time or even only have 3 hours. Don't order food

Went here on a recommendation from a British Royal Navy officer. He described it as a more…read morehistorical venue than really a pub. I rode a bike from the north side of Portsmouth on a mission to find the pub and have a tall pint. Compared to the US, I was surprised at how easy it was to ride a bike to the pub. Once getting there I immediately understood what the British Officer was describing to me. He told me that as Admiral Nelson's fleet was leaving Portsmouth, townspeople were waving to them from the pub. Now that is history. In addition, you can see a picture where a British Royal Navy ship inadvertently ran aground and hit the pub. So I had a pint of local ale and it hit the spot. I also ordered some chips that were wrapped in paper. They were hot, salty, and tasty. They soaked that beer right up and I was ready for the bike ride back. The view is fantastic. Several ferry boats came by and the sun was setting. I was soaking up the history of it all. the bathrooms were clean, wait staff friendly, and I would recommend visiting here at least once if visiting Portsmouth.

Aloha, when in Portsmouth in England this is by far the best pub. Amazing fish and chips, so…read morefresh, crispy and light. You have an amazing view of the water with iconic buildings in your view plane as well as watching fisherman fish off the pier in front of you. So much busy fun sights to watch. I think I could have sat their all afternoon people watching, LOL. We sat upstairs with a nice sea breeze coming in from the window, and we could hear the English accents around us and the bustle from below, such a perfect lunch, enjoy!
