I have worked as a corrections officer, while living here. I went to collect unemployment, and was told that I need to collect from massachusetts! Massachusetts unemployment is absolutely ridiculous and that's using nice words! Their excuse why my claim is late, is because they don't have enough people to work. Here it is December 15 t h, and still no unemployment check. They owe me 5 weeks at $226.00 a week! I called the governor's office of massachusetts! They told me, they would get a hold of the unemployment office, and I would get a call from the unemployment within 3 to 5 days. That didn't happen! Basically everything is in limbo until they decide to do their job. Massachusetts unemployment you should be shame of yourself for making people go without paying their rent because of your negligence. I feel really bad for the people that have children, and depend on this money to feed their children! What's really upsetting, is the fact they don't care that people are in need of the money they've already put into the system! They get their pay every week, so they're not worried about the claimants! They don't even have a supervisor that will talk to you and explain, what's taking so long. They don't give you a time frame that you could expect your unemployment! I thought it was only supposed to take up to 22 days! I was approved on November 2nd still no luck! It says that I have earnings of $6000.00, and can collect up to 23 weeks! Why is it so hard to have an adjuster look at this and approve it! I think they do this, to make people, honestly to decide to give up, so they don't have to pay out unemployment! I feel it's important that we let people know what's going on out there with unemployment! My friends have had the same issues for years with unemployment in Massachusetts!! Something needs to change with this government!!

Dealing with the Boston SSN office has been the nightmare that never ends. I got married in August…read moreand knew I had upcoming travel in October with my new name on my plane ticket. I was told that the process of getting a new card would be faster if I went in person, which I did (and spent hours waiting). I sent in my application on August 27th, the one day I had in between the wedding and the honeymoon, blissfully unaware of the saga that was to come. Fast forward to September 25th and I call back because I have not received my card. They tell me that if my NEW name isn't on my mailbox, the USPS won't deliver my SSN card. This a vitally important piece of information that would have been helpful to know when I applied. Alas, they tell me that they can reapply on my behalf because it's been less than 30 days (29 to be exact and thank god I counted myself because originally, they told me it was past the 30 day time frame). So, I reapplied and then waited. And waited. My travel date came and went and luckily, Amex was kind enough to change my name on my plane ticket free of charge (leave it to the for-profit companies to get anything productive accomplished). I got home and kept waiting. On 10/24 (today), I called back to ask where my card was. The woman said that it should have been delivered on October 8th. I tell her that it was not and that my name was clearly listed on the mailbox as I'd been instructed to do. She said she had no answers for me. It could have been twice delivered to the wrong address (interesting since originally I was told it couldn't possibly be delivered to a mailbox without my NEW name on it), it could have been twice returned back to the SSN office, it could be lost in outer-space, the possibilities as to where these cards could be were endless in her opinion. With that, I asked her if I could simply rescind my entire application and keep my old name. "Nope, it's already been changed on the back end, so you have to come back in and start the process over in order to move forward in getting a card." You cannot make this stuff up. So they TWICE messed up in getting me my card even though I perfectly followed the process and did everything I was told to do. Yet, this now falls on me to resolve and I will now need to take more time off work to go back to the office and re-apply for another card in person. AND they still cannot confirm why the original two cards never made it and have zero plan for how to mitigate this situation. The best she could do was pass me on to her supervisor, a line that was picked up by an answering machine stating that said woman would be on vacation until October 1st. It is October 24th. Perhaps she is missing in outerspace along with my cards. This, ladies and gents is the US government at its finest. My advice to engaged women: keep your maiden name if you value your time, your life, your sanity...

They seemed to be utter professionals--cool and calm yet highly methodical as they went hunting for the one alleged terrorist brother who went on the lam after the shootout that killed his brother. I must confess two of my uncles were Massachusetts State Troopers, which is another great group of tough cops. But the Boston Police were awesome as they used a robot, flashbangs, and a thermal camera to apprehend second Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev . The Police Chief recounted in a press conference shortly afterward just how they got the bleeding guy hiding in a Watertown backyard boat. Additionally, the Police made great use of their Twitter feed by communicating with the public about exactly what was going on. The city of Boston should be very proud of their 5 STAR YELP Boston Police Dept.

I would have been fine with the rule explanation but for the fact that while she did this, with her back to the bus, two men boarded, carrying a HUGE, BOXED, FLAT SCREEN TV, one man on each end. I tried repeatedly to draw her attention to this and she refused to turn around! She just smiled, shook her head and said, "I don't see anything!" Arrogance, self importance, and rule enforcement when and as she wanted to. Hope she gets fired with an attitude like that. Updated income information to get a correction on my Medicare premiums based on their new letter on…read morepremium costs. Met with representative at the Quincy office.They corrected it incorrectly. I anticipated this potential error in our face to face meeting and they told me to call Medicare if that happened. Medicare was called and they referred me back to social security recommending I talk with a supervisor and make a 3 way call with SS and Medicare.. When I called SS again about the error in their recent letter on premium costs, they informed me a new letter is "coming and in the system that I have not received yet" that will give me a new premium amount that is lower. 4 hours in the office and 1 hour on the phone and I am told "its in the mail". They open files, generate 4 page letters every time, are given copies of 1040 that they then do not have when they "look back", so they contradict their own letters with new letters based on old information. Keep track carefully, keep your "letters" on changes and watch carefully when there are published increases in Medicare costs and Social Security increases, because the whole system gets confusing and errors are made.

There's a gate welcoming you into the area and quite a few other other Chinese inspired decorations in the area. I loved a lot of the murals and street art that lines the streets. There also seems to be a few places to sit and hang out if you'd like. There are quite a few stores and the Chinatown signature produce lining the streets. I love seeing people shop and pick their perfect veggies. If you get the chance, walk through Chinatown. It's a vibe.

Since it's just a local version of the larger system, you can look for ANY of the books from any of the branches and they'll send them strait to this location for you to pick up. You can also ask about how to reference and find books because the librarians are really friendly. I wonder how many people really use this service in East Boston? It's open daily and while it may take some time for the books you want to arrive, there's always something you can pick up in the meantime.
