Thomas Marine provides a comprehensive solution to the most challenging design projects imaginable. Brian Thomas(owner) sponsored our Mechanical Engineering senior design project at San Diego State University by letting us use his facility on the weekends to weld, fabricate and machine (with the help of Dynamic Marine Machining) a viable prototype thermoacoustic resonator tube. Built, assembled and tested at Thomas Marine.
The whole team was a pleasure to work with on this year long project. Brian and Jody(shop foreman) both gave valuable advise during the design and fabrication process to cut down on material and labor. Lisa the office manager was a sweet heart who gave you a warm welcome. Donald is a guru polisher and up and coming apprentice welder/fabricator whom contributed some good ideas throughout the process. Even Marcos actually helped me build a tripod stand for our final presentation, under a time crunch. The whole team was selfless, philanthropic and complementary, we had a design going in and they didn't try to change our engineering and force us to do things their way, but merely guided us to streamline the fabrication/welding process. Their main goal was to see the customer smiling in the end, that is why I recommend Thomas Marine!
They have an old school approach to design and fabrication and that's what I like about them. They don't use computers nor expensive cutting edge machinery to build custom parts, they get more accomplished with less fluff than any metal shop in San Diego. They use quality material and robust fabrication equipment (they employ the "if its not broken don't fix it" mentality, because they simply "don't build them like they used to", at least from a wear and tear/structural durability standpoint), the old equipment gives a certain trademark to the Thomas Marine end product (typically polished to a mirror finish and strong). Everything they build is guaranteed for life, and they can stand by their work, because they have over 35 years of experience and do not settle for mediocre, that's what makes Thomas Marine so unique, they deliver only the best of the best.
Family owned companies like this one are a dying breed and we need to support our local business no matter if you need a part for your boat, yacht, custom home, art project or even school project. Just ask and they will abide, typically less expensive than you might think and hands down always exceed your performance expectations.
